Shocked no one has said the Iron Man match...since that is considered by a lot of poeple around here to be the best match ever. :shifty:

Do I use :shifty: too much? :shifty:

Shawn and Bret. Brock and Angle would have been it, great match but the botched spot kind of took away from the best ever aspect.

gotta go with LT/Bam Bam... kidding. Seriously.

Wrestling Wise- Probably Iron Man Bret v Shawn.

Hype wise - Rock/Austin at 17.

Historical wise - Hogan v Andre

Hogan/Andre.

Serious guys, everything else falls to a VERY distant second. This is not even close. Could Austin, HBK, Rock, HHH, Hart, & Benoit combined ever draw over 92,000 people in one place at one time?

WWF has never had a show that successful since. I doubt they ever will.

There were only 78,000 people

That's very debatable, Skip. To lazy to debate though, so you win by forfeit.

The One
03-20-2006, 02:05 AM
Do you mean just shy of 78,000...if your still buying that 92,000 were there then I would encourage you to look in the dictionary because the word gullible isn't in there.

Destor

Below 78,000

But still debatable either way, up or down.

Bret/Shawn.

The One

And based on the fact that Hogan and Andre sold 78,000...then we could compare that Rock/Austin from Mania X-Seven sold 67,900+ in under an hour. Given more seats and possibly an extra half hour, I would image that Rock/Austin could indeed out sell Hogan/Andre.

And I think there was another Mania (possibly X-8) that outsold X-Seven, but I have no clue what the tickets sold were or the time they were on the market, so I passed over it.

I don't see why you would base your opinion on the best WrestleMania main event on the gate numbers. What do they have to do with each other?

WrestleMania X-7 is by far an overall better wrestling show than WrestleMania III. The drawing of fans doesn't dictate which show was superior; it's the quality. The same goes for the main events.

HBK vs. Benoit vs. HHH. It was the crowning moment for every long-time wrestling fan, and the crowning moment for Benoit.

I don't see why you would base your opinion on the best WrestleMania main event on the gate numbers. What do they have to do with each other? There are two types of fans. Those who focus on money, and those who focus on what they like. One of those is called marks. Which one is it?

The One

I focus on both the ratings/money as well as what I like. What does that make me?

The One

Oh and throw in that I have a larger then needed knowledge of results and title histories. Does that make me like a Smart-Smark-Mark?

Oh and throw in that I have a larger then needed knowledge of results and title histories. Does that make me like a Smart-Smark-Mark?It'd make you a smark if you weren't formerly in the buisines. But seeing as you were you're just a smart. You should know that.

The One
03-20-2006, 03:43 AM
Ah, but I am a Smart, with mark qualities. Actually suprisingly, some of the biggest marks...are smarts.

Destor

Yeah, once you are a smart though yet the liberty to have a double standard. :shifty:

Oh and technically, if we're going with terms here, a wrestler or former wrestler is a worker...

So

The One = Smarky-Marky-Smart The Worker.

Summerslam in Wembley Stadium was the biggest drawing crowd in the WWF's history.

Dave/UK Wins!

Oh and how many more times people, Bret/HBK wasn't THAT good, if you took out the 20 minutes of sleeper holds and they just had a 40 minute match it would of been ALOT better

Just realized how weak the WM main events have been for the most part. Probably because 8 of them were headlined by Hogan.

I'm torn between Austin/Rock @ WM X7 and Angle/Lesnar @ WM 19

If Brock would've hit the shooting star on Angle, people would still be talking about it. Maybe I'm biased because I was there, though. That's probably second on my list just under HHH/Benoit/HBK and just in front of Rock/Austin from X-7

Start of the Attitude Era, which led to Vince McMahon's, "No chance in hell", which he still uses.
