More of a general question really. I was out DVD shopping today, and got the Spiderman 1 & 2 boxset. On my way around though, I noticed two DVDS - Spiderman the animated series(complete Series 1) and a box set of the 60's Spiderman cartoon. So I figured the 1st one was the 90's catoon we probably all watched. So I brought it back home to find its some new CGI crap that apparently is on Nickelodeon now!
So basicly, does anyone know if the 1990's cartoon version is out on DVD anywhere? I know they have odd DVDs of it (e.g The Venom Saga, Spiderman vs Doc Ock, etc.) But is there a DVD/ boxset of the actual series?

there isn't one but I sure hope the 90s cartoon comes out on DVD someday. That was some good shit. I've never seen a show build up their characters liked that before ie Venom

CGI Spiderman might have been the one on MTV, and I think that better then Spiderman Animated series in the 90's
The 90's Spiderman series doesn't stand that test of time. It's really not that good if you go back and watch it.

Are you kidding me? I only just watched the original Venom Saga the other day because I found my old video. And I loved it. I went through some of the CGI stuff, and its not bad. It's just not what I grew up watching and therefore wasn't really what I was after.
Also to that point, the 90's series spaned a few years, had a range of characters and stories, and capturedmy imagination. I used to love how they always did those cliffhangers that went on for like 6 episodes.
As to the test of time comment.... I was looking up the CGI series on the net, and found that it was cancelled after that 1st series.

There was the 60s cartoon, the 70s one (avec Iceman and Firestar), the 90s one, some weird "remixed" one and one that was CGI and on MTV.

some weird "remixed" one
Was that the one where he's in a different galaxy or something? And he's trapped but just wants to get home with his family?
I saw that a few times, and its things like that which completly butcher a classic series like spiderman IMO

Yeah but they kept reusing half of the animation over and over again. The voice acting isn't really that great. Spiderman in it is tremendous bitch and loses every single fight.
I loved the show growing up and still watch it for nostalgia, but it's really not that good.

Thanks alot, but I checked out ebay in the meantime, and found the complete set(copies) for $20(£11.25 apparently). I'm guessing the other ones are copies as well, as so many sites on the net are claiming it was never released.

I think I've seen every episode of the 90's Spider-Man like 10 times each.
Anyhow Spider-Man Unlimited wasn't TOO bad. Sure, it wasn't great! But it did give us that small treat of seeing the Venom and Carnage Symbiotes bond together... even if it was for about 10 minutes.
And I liked the CGI one. I have the season 1 dvd and wish they would do more of it.

Ooohh... that X-Men DVD thing looks cool. (I won't get it though).
But does anyone know what that "Bonus: The Pryde of the X-Men" is? I don't recall that one? (I'm assuming "Graduation Day" is the one where Xavier is attacked and only the Shi Ar technology will keep him alive, and at the end we see the X-Men and Magneto watching him go )

No it was't the CGI one, they were in Spider-Man Unlimited. Neither Venom or Carnage appeared in the CGI one.

I just got in the Xmen animated series DVDs. They are copies but the ones I recieved are in very good condition. I payed a little more than most prolly want to(around $40) but to me, thats not much. It was definitely worth it. :y:
I also found the complete Spider-Man animated series(the 90's one) on ebay for $15. I haven't recieved those yet but when I do, I will post on the quality. I am assuming they are in good conditon also because of the reputation of the seller.
Ok, I'm gonna go geek out and watch the Beyond Good and Evil saga. Not like I'm getting laid anytime soon or anything anyway.

I  Jetix. Not sure if it's the same here as it is there, but the U.S. Jetix has the old Spider-Man and X-Men series, plus The Tick (possibly my favorite cartoon ever). All they need to add is Masters Of The Universe and Thundercats, and it would be just about perfect.
