View Full Version : You know what's bugged me about the Hell in a Cell Match?

They have never had two technical masterminds go at it in the Cell. Sure, Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels was a great match, but it never really got off in the Cell, and it was overdramatised (still good, though). All the HIACs have either had The Undertaker or Triple H in them. I'm not going to go through every single HIAC, but none has ever really had Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit in it.

Anyway, I was just wondering if any else wanted to see a MOTY candidate take place in a Hell in a Cell Match? Do you feel the HIAC would support the technical style?

Yes and No.

No because the fans, many of us TPWWers included, want to Cell to continued to be used in the same brutal manner as always. It's whole purpose is a stage on which long and passionate feuds come to a destructive and bloody end. Even after the most barbaric matches some of us are even disappointed that there wasn't enough blood, not nearly enough weapons used and no-one stretcher away after being thrown from the top.

But I always say never say never, say. never.

Who knows what two innovative technicians are capable of in the cage. They would bring a new angle to the Cell and, although not as barbaric in the traditional sense, pull off a stormer. For example, who knew ladder matches could be any more entertaining before the Hardys and E&C took the reigns?

Ladder Matches are a good example of how many styles can fit one match. You have the spotfest style and the psychology-based style. The only way the WWE discovered the success of multiple Ladder Match styles was by putting different wrestlers into Ladder Matches.

I think if they did pop Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit in a Hell in a Cell Match, it could be a classic. I think the WWE missed their chance last year when they didn't have Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio compete in a Hell in a Cell Match.

We've also only had one multi-man HIAC. Kurt Angle defeated The Rock, The Undertaker, Triple H, Stone Cold Steve Austin & Rikishi. I really enjoyed that match. They have the Elimination Chamber for these feuds, but maybe a multi-man feud could be taken into the Cell once and a while?

Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio vs. The Undertaker? It would certainly be different, which is one thing the WWE's main events have been lacking.

Technical wrestlers do't need that kind of windowdressing to put on a masterpiece.

They've already got a glass ceiling to worry about, now you want them to have an iron mesh ceiling too? God damn, they'll never go anywhere.

That's a good point. I think they could use it to add drama. I guess the only way to know would be to experiment and expand the Cell to other areas.

I've always wanted to see a Ladder Match in the Cell. Have the title/titles hanging from the top, and have guys take bumps into the Cell, etc.

Benoit vs Finlay in the HIAC. Both are good at that brutal style and that technical style. It would be glorious.

That would be awesome.

I made a comment about the WWE possibly doing a Finlay/Lashley HIAC. Sure it seems like the feud doesn't measure up to the match, but that is how the WWE can effectively create new stars, in my opinion. The problem with the top stars the WWE is presenting us (Carlito, Chris Masters, Bobby Lashley, etc.) is that they feel too new, and not on the same level as the main eventers. By having them participate in main event matches, you can slowly convince people otherwise.

I believe putting Carlito & Chris Masters into the Elimination Chamber was a good step forward for the WWE.
