View Full Version : Do you think the MITB Winner may switch brands?

I could see it happening as both Raw and Smackdown superstars are going for the same contract, which could say they'll be able to compete for any World Title.
I think RVD has a better chance of winning it and jumping to SD to win the belt, while if he were on Raw, HHH would never job to him.
Also, Finlay could jump to Raw or something like that.
Do any of you see this happening?

Considering you can for the Rumble, I think it's possible. Last year's was supposed to only be for the one title, and even that was forgotten when the brands swapped titles.

What they'll prolly do is wait till it's time to use it, then see if one show needs a boost or not (say SD has another rash of injuries), then have the wrestler jump if it helps the show.

More likely, they'll use it as a quick fix when their champion's not doing as expected. Edge jumping to SD (And technically they could have said he was able to) probably would have been a better move with the shit luck they were having on SD.

Off subject a little bit, but why do people feel the need to put polls up for a discussion question? A poll for a yes or no question is a little retarded.

Because it's a good way to tally up the number of people who think one way or the other, whether they feel like offering feedback?

It would make things a little more interesting. If Rob Van Dam wins, I see him staying on RAW, probably winning the belt from Triple H. If Shelton Benjamin wins, I actually see him going to SmackDown!, and beating Kurt Angle for the belt. He would then hold the World Heavyweight Championship on SmackDown! and the WWE Intercontinental Championship on RAW. He'd forfeit his RAW belt and feud with Kurt Angle .
Ric Flair winning would be interesting. I don't think Flair should win, but if he does, he could probably go anywhere. Flair on SmackDown! would be awesome, and I can imagine the WWE being more eager to put the World Heavyweight Title on him than the WWE Title. Flair's already held the WWE Title, twice, he doesn't need it again. Having Flair hold the World Heavyweight Championship basically has him hold three generations of World Championship.
Finlay winning would probably result in him trying to challenge for a title, but losing. He'd probably challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship, but claiming he wants a fair fight, would go into the match with a fresh opponent. If John Cena retains at WrestleMania, and Finlay wins the MITB, I see Finlay winning the WWE Championship the night after WrestleMania. I doubt he'd have a long reign, though.
Matt Hardy winning seems unlikely, but if he did win it, I'd say they'd send him back over to RAW where he'd win the belt, from either Triple H or Edge (probably justify bringing him back, wouldn't be a long reign). If Bobby Lashley wins, I see him challenging either John Cena or Triple H that night, maybe even as soon as he wins the match. The WWE seems to making out his only weakness is inexperience, and being too eager to prove himself. Lashley getting a title shot and wanting to use it at WrestleMania, but not having the patience to wait a year seesm typical of Lashley. I would even go as far to say Lashley would probably win with help from either John Cena or Triple H (depending if the title match has taken place, and if Cena is still Champ).
So in short, here is what I see happening with each man if they won the MITB Ladder Match:
Rob Van Dam: Wins WWE Championship
Shelton Benjamin: Jumps Ship, Wins World Heavyweight Championship
Ric Flair: Jumps Ship, Wins World Heavyweight Championship
Finlay: Loses to World Heavyweight Champion
Matt Hardy: Jumps Ship, Wins WWE Championship
Bobby Lashley: Jumps Ship, Wins WWE Championship

I highly doubt it. I'm pretty sure they said the winner get's a title shot for the title on his brand.
If not, it's pretty dumb because each o the guys involved are on the brand that best suits them. RVD is probably the only guy I could see jumping ship and not get buried.

RVD going back to SmackDown at this point would be one of the most pointless things ever. His style is much more of that on RAW.

I like RVD, his style, ring pressence and his high spots are so good. I would mark out for him winning the Title anyday.

I dunno, SmackDown! is pretty thin right now. I think any of the RAW guys could pull off a switch if they wanted to.
If Cena turns heel, RAW is going to need another face, too. Lashley or Hardy could provide that.
I do agree Finlay would be lost in the shuffle, though.

On Smackdown Cole said how the winner of MITB get's a shot at either the WWE or the World Title. Maybe that's a quick reminder to let us know brand switching is allowed?
Someone on here said a few weeks ago (and I reckon this would be awesome) is that RVD will win it. And challenge Rey Mysterio for the World Title at ECW ONS.

Maybe Michael Cole was wrong?
Remember all the times that JR said the only way to win a cage match was to climb up over the top? I know Cole's less prone to be wrong than the pox of Raw, but...
