8, good build up to almost all the matches which is rare and the memorable commercials. A couple pretty good matches too.

7.

The MITB match and shawn vs Kurt was good. The Eddie vs Rey was dissapointing because it good have been better.

This ppv was really let down because of the two poor main events

9. I actually liked this Mania. The Shawn/Angle Match is Angle's 2nd greatest match in my opinion only behind his match vs Beniot at Royal Rumble a few years ago. Yes the Title Changes were pretty obvious, but hey, its Mania. Gotta have the babyface go over the majority of the time. And that Taker/Orton match was great to watch as well, probably Takers best match at that time.

A good but not great mania. 2 really good matches: Angle/HBK and Taker/Orton. The rest was absolute shit

Misterio vs Guerrero was a good concept, with the professional rivalry between the then-Tag Team champions. However, the match disappointed, unfortunately. It was okay, and the ending was good, but I expected more.

Money In The Bank was great. Shelton was the star of the match. I'm sick of Edge constantly winning ladder matches in which he was possibly the least spectacular combatant. All the TLC matches were the same, E&C took the duke, despite the Hardys and Dudleys putting in the harder-hitting performances. Edge just always seems to steal the wins, and it is pretty annoying to see him take the credit for a great match when he didn't stand out in said match. He used the MITB win to his advantage however, and has been on form since December. Great match.

I was surprised at how good Taker vs Orton was. Everytime you count the Undertaker out, he always comes back to surprise you with a great match. Doubt we'll see any miracles this year against Henry, however. Bob Orton coming out was a nice novelty moment back then, seeing as he was barely involved in the WWE at the time. There was never a better time, or a better opponent, for the Undertaker to suffer his first Mania loss. It should have been.

Women's title match was a filler, and based on the publicity of Christy's Playboy spread, much like this year's pillow fight.

Angle vs Michaels. WOW. I knew it was going to be good, but it was spectacular, and proved that old-school psychological wrestling can still get over with a crowd. They have wrestled three times since, but none of their matches have managed to surpass this classic. Also, for those trivia buffs who may not have been watching around this time, this marked the first time Michaels wore the now-standard chaps instead of the classic tights, so it had a strange, novelty freshness to the match too.

Sumo match was the pits.

Cena vs JBL also sucked, but at least there was a good crowd pop when Cena won, so there was a good atmosphere at least. I never bought into the rap gimmick, but a lot of people seemed to back then. Where did it all go wrong, John?

HHH vs Batista should have been more of a squash to really put Batista over and end the night on a real crowd-pleasing note, but Hunter's ego took over. What does he think, that his career would be over if he ever did a convincing job? Puh-leeeze. Daddy's Little Boy WILL beat Flair's title record, barring injury or death, so just give us something to hold on to in between runs, like giving your successor a good head-start? To be fair, not many people have had the rub the way Batista has, so kudos in some respects, but it's almost as if Trips HAS to get his little shot in and expose his opponent's weaknesses, even when he's putting them over. That way, if the show flopped, he could place the blame on 'The Animal'. Luckily for big Dave, the show was a monster success.

The Hogan/Piper's Pit segments were only there for the feel-good factor but they worked, and added two classic 'Mania moments to the card, although I do have a gripe with Austin needlessly stunning Piper and ruining the moment. Why must they always put Austin over EVERYONE when he can't get in the ring and turn these angles into money-making matches? All it does is crush the momentum of guys like Carlito, because they just had their ass handed to them by a non-wrestler.

Overall, great show, great matches in MITB, Angle/HBK and Taker/Orton, and that all-important "big show feel" to it. I liked the Hollywood theme and the skits and spoofs leading up to the show were entertaining too. Good effort.
