Ok, my first ever show last night, here's my rundown:
Ring of Honor Results: 3/31/06
Location: Chicago, IL
-Samoa Joe & Adam Pearce defeated two ROH students:
Basically a total squash, they made out the students to be CZW workers and they just destoryed them, Cornette did a promo before and after the match basically shitting all over CZW
-Ricky Reyes defeated Delirious, Flash Flanagan, & Shane Hagadorn:
This was the first proper match, Delirious was really over and did some good comedy, nothing really to note from this match, wasn't bad wasn't great, Reyes cut a promo on Delirious at the end saying that he didn't belong in ROH
-Jimmy Rave & Alex Shelley defeated Claudio Castagnoli & Jimmy Yang
This was a really run, great looking match, first time of seeing all these guys and they didn't dissapoint, Prince Nana just makes me LMFO all the time, he's gold. Castagnoli is well over just by saying 'Hey!' all the time, I dunno.
Highlight would be when Yang landed on my lap after getting thrown over the barrier :D
-Ace Steel defeated Chad Collyer in a First Blood Match
Match seemed a bit flat, I guess it's cos everyone knew Steel wasn't going to job in his home town, just seemed flat, wasn't the best brawl i've ever seen
-Matt Sydal & AJ Styles defeated Austin Aries & Jack Evans
Awesome, totally awesome. Not alot else i can say, everything just clicked as you'd expect with workers of that caliber
-Do Fixer defeated Blood Generation in a Dragon's Gate showcase match
Now i'm the first to admit i'm not a massive Japanese wrestling fan, and it took me a while to get into this match, it ended up lasting over 30 minutes and I swear to god that you HAVE to watch this match.
I promise you will not be dissapointed, this is one of the best matches i've seen in a long long LOOOOONG time, the final 20 minutes is just insane, there were about 20 near falls with everyone hitting every kind of move you can think of, ***** match without question.
-MisChif defeated Lacey, Cheerleader Melissa, Daizee Haze, Rain, & Allison Danger
This one surprised me, it was decent. That's all
-Homicide defeated Mitch Franklin. Homicide brawled with Cabana, but the Fight Without Honor did not take place.
5 Minute brawl really. Just setting up for the final match tonight I guess
-Samoa Joe defeated Jimmy Jacobs & Christopher Daniels
Great match, agian, as you'd expect
-Bryan Danielson retained the ROH World Title against Roderick Strong.
Now I know this is meant to be strong style and all, but this just wasn't my thing, the match lasted over 55 minutes. And a good 40 minutes of that were rest holds/submission holds, and I personally do not find that entertaining. I was also trying to work out if Dragon was trying to be a heel or a face, cos he was trying the heel heat, but then was slapping hands at the end. I dunno.
Don't get me wrong, what they did looked good, but it's not something I find entertaining.
The show started at 8 and didn't finish until 12.45 so i def got my monies worth.
Oh Chris Hero and Necro Butcher were there as well, Hero did a promo early on and got escorted out by security and then Hero and Butcher showed up after the Homocide/Cabana thing, Joe came out and got rid of them which lead to the match with Daniels.
So for $25 I'm happy and i'm sure I'm not going to be that entertained tommorrow night, for a show i'm paying alot more money for.
