I think Hunter went to Vince and reminded him about the "You must be this tall to main event WrestleMania" sign.

So... I'm betting this reign won't last that long.
Also, remember a a year or two ago when we were debating whether Rey could be top champ? I honestly can't believe it's happening. Either they build him up as legit, or this will last all of one month before Batista comes back, turns heel on him, destroys him, and feuds for like three months before moving on to Orton and eventually Angle.
Disturbed316
04-02-2006, 10:09 PM
Ok, seriously, what the fuck?
I'm all for Rey winning, but that match was too fucking short. I thought his victory would have been better after a grueling match, not won in some filler match.
They shortchanged the WWE Title match last year, and this year they have done it with the World Heavyweight title.
They now need to move away from using Eddie as the reason for his win. Sure, say he was looking down on him etc on some celebration segment on Smackdown, but after that they need to start showing Rey can back this push up.
They're not doing the pillow fight?

I still don't understand why Triple Threat was third to last, unless they anticipated fans running to throw up after the match or something. *shrug* And yeah, it was definitely too short.
Also, I forgot to mention it earlier, but Mickie's win ended the longest Women's Champion reign in decades, I think (this is assuming you don't count the years it didn't exist but was still credited to like, Fabulous Moolah or something).

WWE did a good job. AWESOME PPV. The main event was awesome and the ending was perfect, it really builds up the STFU.
Rey winning the title is a start to a new era and he deserved it.
Henry did lose to Undertaker, but Taker showed that he still has some in him so it will be interesting where they go with Taker from now on.
Corkscrewed
04-02-2006, 11:47 PM
That was exactly the response I expected from Vermaat. Yup, main event was awesome! Nothing like ending the show with 20,000 people silent to cap off a great PPV!
Actually, it was a pretty good PPV over, but the ending was probably the worst way you could have booked it. At least throw some excitement or double turn or SOMETHING in there either during or after the match. Simple tap out? Cena was NOT the underdog. This wasn't some David slaying Goliath. So in this case, a tap out does nothing.
Rey winning is definitely interesting. Lets see where they go with it before we judge, but I still say they'll end up treating it as a fluke win.
And of course Henry was gonna lose. You expected him to win?
But you said that ANY ONE of those will BREAK IT! ON NOES THE WWE IS GONNA CLOSE!

What in the hell are you all talking about?? This Wrestlemania was one of the best I've seen in years, if not ever. I was so entranced by almost every single match. And I really didn't even mind the ending. I actually thought it was kinda cool and I'm not a Cena fan in the least. How can you say that Cena wasn't the underdog?? They built him up to be an underdog for weeks upon weeks. Everyone took shots at his wrestling skills, he himself even said that he was not nearly as good as Trips. Hell, the first 10 minutes of the match was squash. I actually like that Cena beat Trips legitimately with all of the fans against him. The fans almost played the bad guys in the match, hella wierd.

WTF??????? I finally made it onto the boards, but I cannot believe HHH tapped to Cena. Back in January, I figured Cena would retain against HHH, but after Cena lost the belt and won it right back, HHH was gonna win. But what the.........? And HHH jobbing in the WM main event now 3 years in a row?? Something fishy is going on. One of my friends was so pissed, that he pedigreed his younger brother, lol.
But the rest of the show was pretty good. Aside from Boogeyman, Booker/Sharmell, and the pillow fight. The backstage segment with Booker T and the freaks was LOL. Womens match was excellent, even though the botched Stratusfaction at the end. Triple Threat was great, but too short. MITB was good, RVD! Hardcore match was good. Vince/Shawn was a fun match as well. HBK is still the man.
Besides some low spots, I still think the ppv did pretty good. Not the best WM of all time, but its in the top 10.

-Cena winning was a shock, which was good, but don't think having your "face" champion that get booed hardcore in the Main Event of Mania was such a great idea, am intrested to see where they go from here... HHH rematch?... HBK? :n:
-Everyone was saying this was gonna be a horrible Mania and although it wasnt the best, was FAR from the worst. :y:
I'm sure once I think more about it, will come back with more thoughts on it

Interesting show... not as good as it could have been. Mickey's boobs could have popped out--she was adjusting herself every 3 seconds. In the long run, though, JBL winning the US title will be the greatest achievement of this Wrestlemania. His promos are going to be pure gold.
Some of these titles NEED to be dropped on RAW and Smackdown this week... they need to find a way to either get the tag titles off Kane and Show or unify them via the draft, and Rey needs to drop his ASAP. The belt won't even fit around his waist--he can jump rope with it for chrissakes.
Here's to hoping for a decent RAW.

I think it was a good show. It was clearly booked by a crazy person in terms of what went where, but the matches themselves were all satisfying. I like that the focus was on the matches, and not on backstage stuff. It's WrestleMania. I'd rather watch a six-man ladder match than Pete Rose in a chicken costume.
Although, having said that, the skit with Booker T and the "freaks" was hilarious. As soon as I saw Eugene with the basketball, I just started laughing my ass off. My friend (who's only been a friend since the Attitude era) looked at me like I was nuts. Nice nod to the old-school fans. Something they...well...NEVER do.
The last hour of the PPV was poorly planned, though. You should always end WrestleMania by sending the crowd home happy, so Rey Mysterio overcoming the odds to win the World Title should have been last. So why was it before the pillow fight (which was actually better than I expected)? And why on earth did they end the show with perhaps the least-over babyface champion in a decade getting a submission win with his secondary finisher over Conan The Barbarian?
When the match was over, everybody started to get up to leave our table, but I said "Wait a minute. No way they're ending it like this. They're building to something." And then the montage rolled. Big disappointment on that front.
But the show itself was very good.
MITB didn't disappoint (although I would have liked more offense from Finlay). I loved the triple powerbomb spot on Lashley. Makes him look like a beast. RVD's splash was a little weak, but it was all he could do with Finlay so close to the ladder. The right guy absolutely won that one. And  at Shelton's two big spots (the running somersault plancha and springboarding onto the ladder). I don't care if they never defend the IC belt at Mania again, just keep putting this guy in this match.
The hardcore match was excellent. I expected it to be a lot of fun, but those two went waaaaaay over the top. As soon as I saw the lighter fluid, I knew the table spot was coming and, when Lita took the bottle, I knew the spear was coming. Although I expected a shoulderblock-type spear, not a tope through the table! And Edge did a phenomenal job selling being in shock at the end of the match.
If they hadn't botched that one spot at the very end of the Women's Title match, that would have almost been the perfect diva match. Trish and Mickie complement each others' styles so well and Trish's knee injury gave the match...GASP...psychology.
I was a little disappointed that we didn't get a Carlito face turn with Masters turning on him after the opener, but they're teasing a breakup again. I can't believe I'm saying this, but that would be a good feud for Masters.
I didn't care much for the ending of the Benoit/JBL match. I don't mind necessarily that JBL won, but it just seemed really sudden. Those two could have gone a lot longer. Ah, well. Still an enjoyable match.
I don't care for Undertaker or Mark Henry, but the casket match was pretty good. I still can't believe that UT can still jump that far. I really expected that to end badly when he took off.
But, yeah, overall I really enjoyed it. If they'd rearranged the last three matches (and, preferably, put the pillow fight before HBK/Vince and Edge/Foley), the show would have been just about as good as it could be.

There seems to be a lot of issues with tonights Wrestlemania, I for one enjoyed watching it.
Mick Foley & Edge gave it their all in the Hardcore Match and I think Edge showed just how far he will go, I see big things in his future.
Trish and Mickie had a good match, Mickie showed that she is a great wrestler and can tell a story in the ring, If Trish crippled down and sold her weakened knee, she could have hid the Stratusfaction mistake, either way Mickie Deserved to be crowned Champion.
Vince and Shawn, well Shawn put on a nice display, Vince mearly took the hits, a great spot at the end, I think Vince will talk about HBKs "DX-Pose" and how Shawn said before the match that he will be going out there as somebody else entirely as a form of Shawn converting back to his "don't give a crap" rebel days, what Vince wanted all along.
It was nice to see Rey win, He deserved to win sometime, I still feel Eddie is his reason for the title shot, I would rather see Rey win without having to use Eddie's Legacy as a stepping stone to get fan support, My Personal Opinion is that Angle made the Title look strong, Now that Rey has it, he needs to do the same, but I don't think he has what it takes to pull it off as well as Angle did.
Another thing I liked was how J.R. and Lawler didn't try to convince the viewers to cheer Cena or Boo Triple H, they called the match how they should always do, straight down the middle giving each wrestler their props, personal bias makes things interesting, but there's a limit.
Many people didn't like the "Advanced" Enterances of HHH and Cena, I thought they were a nice touch, built up anticipation and got people in the mood for the match, made it feel like a huge boxing match, which is another good thing, the In-Ring Introductions by Lillian Garcia were good and made the match look Professional. Cena vs Triple H was one of the best matches I've ever seen, it wasn't just the fight, it was the fans, the commentators, the actions of both men created one hell of an atmosphere.
The Money in the Bank ladder match was alright, a nice handful of spots and bumps, I felt really bad for Flair until I saw the sequence motion of both Referees raising their arms at the same time, then I felt played, their use that sign (which was ment to be used incase of serious injuries) was pathetic, I wont dwell on that because it doesn't matter, what matters is RVD is getting a shot at the championship, ever since that one match against ... I think it was either Triple H or the Undertaker... anyway, ever since that match when he won, celebrated with the championship, then the match got restarted and he lost, I felt bad for him, he has a good fanbase and the whole crowd gets behind him, just watch him do his RVD taunt and see how many people taunt along with him while chanting his initials.
In closing I thought the PPV was good, Hardcore, WWE championship, Womens Championship matches were GREAT, only 2 or 3 matches were sub par, but the rest were alright.

When's the last time a "Fuck you" chant made it onto WWE TV? I mean, sure, it was commonplace for ECW, but...
Cena on Raw = HHH holding him down.
Making my rare "once a month" post in the wrestling forum.
I'm sure it's been said already, but I don't have time to read the whole thread. Pretty surprised HHH didn't win. I would think the most logical way to end Mania is with a champion that the fans wanted to see, and clearly it wasn't Cena. They should have had the WHC match be the main event, cause at least the crowd popped huge for Rey winning the title, I know I would have.
They should just turn Cena heel, but keep him the way he is now so the fans will still boo him. I mean they should consider him a heel, and consider HHH or with whomever he's feuding a face. Maybe I'm behind cause I haven't been following WWE for a while, but I know from the past that when a face gets booed like Cena is, he's gonna stop drawing. So just turn him or put the belt on someone who won't recieve X-Pac heat.
On a side note: RVD winning the MITB  :y:

Thoughts:
1. I started to enjoy the McMahon/Micheals match more AFTER Cena/Triple H ended.
2. Why do I get this feeling that Cena's entrance is the only way we'll EVER get to see CM Punk in the WWE proper?
3. A heel won a title match which is good. The wrong heel won a title match, which is bad.
4. I still think it was Trish's fault for the botched Stratusfaction. But, all in all, that was a fantastic Women's Title match. Mickey James is the best female wrestler in the 'E since at least Molly Holly.
5. Edge's defining moment was tonight, and he delivered. Joey Styles summed it up best: OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!
6. Carlito has all the wrestling ability in his team with Masters. He has all the mic ability in his team with Masters. He has all the heat in his team with Masters. WHY IS HE THE ONE CONSTANTLY JOBBING!?!
7. How do you have a Pillow Fight Match without a Pillow shot?
8. Why the hell didn't they show Shelton's springboard onto the ladder?
9. The Cactus Jack Clothesline with Lita on his back was killer.
10. Crotch Chops were funny.
11. Seriously, Mickie James was on fire.
12. Funny to see Orton get owned on the mic. By 'Tista nonetheless.
13. Can we start calling RVD "Mr. Wrestlemania" now?
14. The fan throwing his hands in the air with a "You Got to be Shitting Me" look on his face after the result of Trips/Cena said it all...

I really REALLY liked the PPV. I ddin't care in the least that there was no stunt booking or pointles guest appearances.
The Trish/Mickie match was definitely a show stealer. Great match fromstart to finish..even the blown spot could be explained by Trish's "injury" And the crowd obviously appreciated the job Mickie has been doing playing the heel. I think some fans forget that Victoria played a pretty good psycho..lets hope they don't drop the ball with Mickie.
Foley/Edge was incredible. Predictable result, but a great, great match.
MITB was a lot of fun and I could see the WWE using it as a springboard to send Flair to SD during the draft to set up a program with Finlay. Also, Shelton Benjamin is BY FAR the best athlete on the roster.
The segment with Booker was GOLDEN.
Carlito is going to get over quick as a face.
I actually thought the show was fairly predictable until the title matches:
I was pretty apathetic about Rey winning the title. The match was a little lackluster and shorter than I expected. And I think the live crowd definitely didn't pop the way the WWE expected. I honestly believe Orton/Angle would've torn the house down...but Rey as champ does give them a nice sproingboard for other matches. Not my choice, but definitely surprising.
Trips/Cena: Trips carried the match, but no matter. Wildly entertaining and the crowd was RED HOT. The competing chants were electric; this was the most fired up I've seen a crowd since SCSA/Rock II in Houston. I was shocked by the ending, but if it leads to a nice little heel run by Cena, playing off the way the crowd vilified him, then its all good. John cena as a heel was incredible.
If we get 6 more months of the 'scrappy underdog' BS however, I'll probably be tuning out. The wussified Cena is just not as entertaining.

I liked the show, it was well worth the $20 I paid to watch....except for the ending, but we'll get to that later.
-Kane/Show Vs. Carlito/Masters-Well, I didn't want Kane and Show to win because they've so utterley decimated Carlito/Masters in the buildup to the match, but I didn't want Carlito/Masters to win because I think they're better off as singles wrestler. So, whatever, it got me some points in Tipsters.
-MITB-RVD winning was the right choice. I too was a little worried they'd give it to Flair after the knee injury spot. Would've liked to see a little more time given to this one.
-Chris Benoit/JBL-So I guess JBL's whole "I'm the greatest technical wrestler in the world" thing'll be his new gimmick now. I thought Benoit should've retained, primarily because there was so little build to this one.
-Edge/Foley-Match of the Night for me. Foley and Edge both came off looking like a million bucks. Edge winning was of course the right choice, and the flaming table spot was ludicrous.
Booker/Sharmell Vs. The Boogeyman-Why they keep giving the Boogeyman wins is beyond me, especially at the expense of a guy like Booker. The fact that this made the card but MNM and the cruiserweights didn't causes me to die a little.
Trish/Mickie James-Above average match, aside from the botched finish. Glad to see Mickie win. The psychology of Mickie's "mind games" was great (and it was a nice visual as well. ).
Taker/Henry-We all knew how this was gonna go. It was kept short, thank God, and it was nice to see Taker pull out his dive again.
Vince/Shawn-Close behind Foley/Edge for MOTN honors. Who'da thunk it, eh? The storytelling was tremendous, and the use of weapons was damn good (That chair shot Vince took made me cringe). And what can I say about the huge elbow spot? Awesome.
Orton/Rey/Kurt-GIVE "EM MORE TIME!!!! I can't believe Rey won. I thought Orton for sure. No idea way the crowd disliked Rey. Why didn't they close with this?
Torrie/Candice-The day after they induct Verne Gagne into the Hall of Fame, they give us a pillowfight in which a dog's ass was rubbed into a women's face. That's all I have to say.
HHH/Cena-When all else fails, quote Gohan.
WHAT THE FUCK?
I cannot believe they would have Cena retain without a heel turn (if they don't turn him tomorrow, I will put my TV through a window). The match itself was memorable, moreso for the atmosphere than the actual in ring stuff, tho. The entrances were perhaps the funniest things I've ever seen in wrestling. When I saw Cena with that gun, I thought "My God, he's finally had it with the boos".
I would have marked out like a little bitch if RVD had cashed in his contract afterwards.
Matches, from best to worst:
1. Foley/Edge
2. Michaels/McMahon
3. MITB
4. Trish/Mickie
5. HHH/Cena
6. Orton/Angle/Mysterio
7. Kane/Show vs. Carlito/Masters
8. Benoit/JBL
9. Taker/Henry
10. Candice/Torrie
11. Booker/Boogeyman
Best moments of the night:
1) End of Edge/Foley (ECW version of "OH MY GODDDD", finally.)
2) The crowd during HHH/Cena
3) Booker's backstage freakshow
4) Elbow off the ladder
5) Cena and Trips' entrances, for sheer comedic value.
Worst moments
1)Cena retaining
2) Booker losing
3) Snitsky licking Mae Young's foot (can't remember how much it said Snitsky was paid in that WWE salary thread, but it ain't enough.)
4) Pillowfight
5) No Bret :( (though I wasn't expecting it)

I quite liked HHH's entrance with all the "King of Kings" gear, the new video and new music. I thought he was debuting a new aspect of his character at WrestleMania.... but then it just merged into his old entrance theme and TitanTron, so I'm guessing that this was a one-off thing, just like Cena's crappy entrance.

Cena/HHH was one of the best matches ever, wrestlers were great, fans were great, introductions were great. Anyone who can't see through their hatred of either men to see that, is pathetic.
While I wouldn't say it was one of the greatest matches ever, it WAS a good match. I am a bit pissed at the fans during the match. Yeah, Cena needs to drop the title, but seriously, half of the Cena hate is bandwagon. The guy is DOING his job. Get everyone else's cocks out of your mouths and actually give the guy props where it's due.
Cena could have VERY WELL pulled a Goldberg/Lesnar WM20 by just basically saying 'Fuck it' and taken it loosely. But he DIDN'T. Anyone saying Cena didn't seem like the underdog is a tool. The whole way through I bet about everyone was expecting the lose by Cena. I did, and I lose five bucks because of it.
Cena put on a good show. He kept his gimmick, and while visably pissed (can't blame him) he kept kayfabe. Through all this booing, he's played it up. He hasn't gotten overly pissed, got mad at the fans- he's staying with his character and he's giving his all. Should he be champion? No. Should he be shoved down our throats? No. Should a chant saying 'Fuck You Cena' by heard and people get off on it? No. Jesus people, give the guy slack, it's not HIS fault he needs to turn. Jesus
Okay, I'm done with my poor rant that will just be laughed at and made fun of, but oh well. Anyway, I REALLY liked the show. A lot of wins caught me off guard (Show/Kane, RVD, JBL... Rey and Cena) and the whole PPV kept me watching to see what was happening.
I dunno how many times I marked out during the show. I marked out in every match BUT the Playboy match, which was just utter crap. I laughed at the various botches done by Trish, Mickie, and Rey during the match. I made a LOT of Orton jokes whenever anyone would crouch down. I marked the SHIT out for Michaels' spot, and for Hunter's entrance.
Also, does anyone know the name of the song played during Hunter's entrance? I know it's Motörhead, but is it a new song or what?

C'mon..I agree that John is doing a good job of playing off the boo's..but there's no way he could've pulled a Brock/Bill. Those two were both leaving the company immediately following WM. They had nothing to lose. Cena is making a very nice living doing what he's doing plus he's got a future to think of, so there's no fucking way he just mails in the main event at Wrestlemania.

Naw, he didn't HAVE to stay in character, do the little gimmick moves. He could have done it half-assed. Look at Hunter. Remember the Kliq incident in MSG? Did that REALLY hurt his career that much?
It's just amusing to me that Cena has an incredible work-rate, even though he gets booed out of the house. He puts on good matches, he knows how to work his character, and he's entertaining. Yet everyone hates him because of what the writers and bookers are doing. It's just getting to the point that it's making me dislike wrestling. I rarely ever see people giving props to Cena, and when someone does- they get flamed. Seems a little ignorant to me, I dunno.
However, I think Hunter did a REALLY good job putting Cena over. I think Hunter tapping to Cena was better than a pin. How many people have made Triple H tap? Benoit and Angle? I don't think Jericho has. Getting Hunter to tap is different than getting Edge to tap. Once again, I dunno, that's just how I see it.

Yeah, because one guy having the talent, ability, and mind to get through and overcome "punishment" means that no one that the WWE wants to punish will ever have their career hurt. Why, John Cena could piss on Vince McMahon right now, and Vince wouldn't be able to do anything.
Sorry, kid. If Cena fucked up (worse than he already does - I'm not a Cena fan at ALL, mind you, and I'll admit that, but bear with me), he would've jeopardized his career in the process.

I really hate that Mysterio won. I don't care for the little guy crap, esp. since it's been all about Eddie and not Rey. To me, Orton deserves it more or they could have just kept it on Angle.
I mean, that's all we need is another champion who only does 3 moves and they look weak. So don't get me wrong, because Rey is a great athlete... but come on now, it's ridiculous how he's been lately. But then again, all my fav wrestlers now are all heels so whatever.

I think overall, it was a solid PPV. The dissappointing ending just made the PPV seem a little worse than it probably was. However, IMO, it definitely lacked the "epic" feel. Nowhere near the worst, but definitely not among the best either.
I really think they dropped the ball on Cena here. It's almost as if they gave him the win just to spite the fans, and as satisfying as that might be, that's never how you book a show, let alone the ending to your biggest PPV of the year.
On the other hand, we'll see how RAW shapes up tomorrow. Triple H is officially off my shit list, however, with this third Wrestlemania job in a row. I mean, unless he's going so far to prove he does bury people as to bury himself, I think it's safe to say his politicking has definitely fallen back to acceptable limits.

This PPV was actually better than I thought it would be.
The womens match should have ended differently. Instead of a Chick Kick from Mickie, she should have done a tornado DDT and then a shooting star press or a big move like a moonsault off the top ropes for the win. Seriously, it would have been awesome.

I absolutely loved this Wrestlemania. Granted, there were no 5* classics, but it delivered as a Wrestlemania. It had that special feel to it, and frankly everyone delivered what you would expect (and more) than originally set out.
Missed the Tag Match (gotta get snacks at some point) but one of the few major wtf points was the not changing of the titles onto Masters and Carlito....but hey, its not exactly the end of the world.
Enjoyed the MITB match, not as much as last years, but it was good. Shelton Benjamin is a god. I don't need to say this to everyone here, you already know.....a fucking springboard onto a vertical ladder??? That is insane. Some neat spots, with nothing overly crazy, its the best way to redifine ladder matches, and at the end of the day the right outcome (roll on One Night Stand  )
Was genuinely moved by the HOF stuff, wasn't expecting Bret to be there, and in essence it was a good thing, as it may have taken away from the moment.
Enjoyed the JBL/Benoit match. Loved the entrance, Love the character, Love Jillian Hall's legs.....what? Decent enough wrestling match, could have been good given more time, but what the hey.
Edge and Foley....what can I say?? Edge is a fucking star, and Foley got his Wrestlemania moment, this match was everything it should've been and more. This is how these sorts of matches should be done, not like the crap you see in CZW. This had the right facials, the right spots at the right time, a story. This was great. Lita did her part brilliantly, and the pair of those guys have got bottle, I don't think many would believe Edge would be diving into fire at Wrestlemania, but he did, major props to him and the Mickster, my second favourite match of the night.
The walk of freaks had me ROFL, Booker and Sharmell are brilliant, Ted DiBiase had me laughing, the old chemistry between Booker and Goldust and Snitsky.... you just can't hate the man.
That said the match was atrocious, and probably the low point of the PPV. But hey, lets do the WWE thing, scrub over the negatives and move to the positives.
Trish and Mickie....loved it. One of the best womens matches I've seen in the WWE since the Trish/Victoria fued a while back, and I think like many people, I'm in love with Mickie James. On a serious note, I think the crowd in Chicago were telling the WWE something important in this match and I hope they take notice. I honestly believe that the reason they were cheering Mickie and booing Trish (outside of Mickie being a hot psycho lesbian, which is good in my books) was simply a case of saying, this is the amount of effort you should put into your storylines and the development of your characters. Ok, maybe not in so many words, but I think you get my point. This had a great build, and with the exception of the botched finish (which could be explained by "Trish's leg gave out after the punishment it had taken") delivered on the hype. I think Mickie has the potential to be the next huge star of the womans division, and what can I say....she's hot.
Taker/Henry....meh, wasn't as awful as it could've been and a nice old school Taker dive, so it was passable.
Vince/Shawn, technically was never gonna be great, but like every Vince match, it had a great compelling story, Shawn pulled one out of the bag and it turned into a great story, rather than a great match, and was certainly what you'd expect from this sort of match at a Wrestlemania. The seeds perhaps of a new Shawn character, not neccessarily as a heel, not neccessarily a new DX, but certainly a new edge.
I enjoyed the triple threat match, albeit too short. I wanted to mark out for Rey winning the title, but I just couldn't. Granted, the guy has earnt it.... but I just don't buy him as a champion. With the ratings already in the shitter, it'll be interesting to see if the fans do.
Gloss over the Pillow Fight into....
THE MATCH OF THE NIGHT. I didn't think I'd be saying this, but I absolutely LOVED the main event. Firstly bhfngbjiwdhfui CM PUNK  bhjhiuewhfo but what the hell was going on with those entrances. I mean.... I think they gave the match what it needed, a huge feeling, but....they were just plain strange. After that though. What a great match. Triple H was on fire tonight, brilliant job. This match started to have the same feel (and in some respects the same format) as Hogan/Rock from Mania 18, but it surpassed that. It did the exact thing it should've of in my eyes. It drew people into the match. At first I was content just sitting and watching the inevitable, but I actually started to edge forward and become exceedingly interested in the match. It was one of those few times when I was watching with awe/disbelief, because I had no idea what was coming next. The finish was unexpected. The match built slowly into a crescendo and was just....fantastic. Props to both guys for an absorbing match, with a crowd that was just brilliant, I did notice that it was the men who were chanting Cena can't wrestle and Cena sucks, and the women and kids chanting for Cena, the dynamic worked, Triple H did everything perfectly. I just thought it was a great, great, old school style brawl with a great story. Plus the ending leaves so much for them to work with in terms of Cena's character. He's proved himself, he won with a wrestling move, he beat the best etc..... the crowd reaction tonight is gonna be the key with where to go next and I do get the feeling the double turn somewhere down the line is inevitable.
Fantastic Mania, not in the top 3 I would say, but it had the Mania feel, and I enjoyed it regardless...... to coin an oft use phrase on Observer Feedback.... THUMBS WAY UP!

I loved WrestleMania. I marked out for Kurt Angle, CM Punk & Kane. Even Carlito. He was wearing orange, too. Orange is my favourite colour, so my Carlito marking out was probably enhanced.
The show was good, but I think the main event kind of cheesed it up a bit. I marked out for CM Punk, though. God, he pwned that role. If there is a more charismatic man, I have not found him. How many people get to say they made their debut in the main event of WrestleMania, even if it was in a "non-credited" role?
I think they missed a potential WrestleMania moment by not having RVD cash in his title shot when Cena retained. It would have sent the fans home happy. RVD going 4-0 at WrestleMania would have set up a potential Undertaker vs. Edge vs. RVD match at WrestleMania next year with only one man walking out with the streak. That would have been awesome.
Hopefully the WWE captures the lightning in a bottle (I do think that this year's WrestleMania would have brought in some new fans), and actually does something on RAW that makes it worth watching. The same with SmackDown!. The same with both shows the following week. Let's hope that the WWE pushes towards something new and not something predictable. By predictable I mean John Cena vs. Triple H II.

lol I dont have to go apeshit cause what he is saying is SO ridiculous that it can't even be looked at seriously. Rey is the best new face they have and I am glad that he won the title. His reign is going to be amazing and I hope he holds it until next Mania.

If he can't even get a crowd behind him at Mania, against Hunter, he won't be holding it next year.

When's the last time a "Fuck you" chant made it onto WWE TV? I mean, sure, it was commonplace for ECW, but...
you'll hear it tonight. thanks to such a shitty ending last night, my fellow wrestling fans here are going to pissed off tonight.
a friend of mine taped the show for me last night (since i sold my tickets for cash and 2 tickets for the white sox game  and I'm going to Raw tonight) and I just got done watching it.... i just love how the crowd here doesn't take any shit. the night sucked outside of HBK/Vince & Edge/Jack. the crowd made everything else look better.
god how i love my hometown.

I'm all for Cena retaining.
It made the finish less than predictable... now here's to hoping that Cena turns heel to match the heat he was getting yesterday, and goes back to the angry way he used to be (think of when Kurt Angle imitated him and brought out the mini-Kurt)....Cena hasn't done that ONCE since he went on the face run...

PPV, Raw, or House Show. Doesn't matter. It's in Chicago. The fans will show the ame spirit tonight as they did last night. It's in the same arena as well.

Well I disagree. It's very rare to hear a strong smark crowd on Raw. I don't think the location has that much of an effect for a weekly television show.

thing with Conan Triple H is I thought that was going to be the start of his new King of Kings's entrance, so I started laughing. It was a WTF moment
But then Cena did his own entrance so then I figured it was strictly a Wrestlemania thing

Have you seen the last few MSG RAWs and SmackDown!s?
It's said that Vince relies on that crowd for some of his major decisions.
Which may be one of the factors (besides price) that they haven't come around for about a year. Vince doesn't want to be proven wrong about Cena, and the MSG crowd would rip him two and a half new assholes.
The point is that just because it's a RAW, SmackDown!, SNME, House Show, etc, doesn't mean it's not going to be a very smarky crowd.

I enjoyed the PPV and was entertained. Thought Edge vs Foley was the match of the night, and proved that Edge can up his game when he needs to. Womens match was excellent as well. Glad RVD won MITB and not Flair.
The thing that annoyed me the most was the triple threat match. Not only was it on 3rd last, it was only on for about 5 - 10 minutes. It was a shame it ended so quick as it was building up to be a good match.
Cena vs HHH was good, but I wish Cena could learn how to do other moves apart from a suplex and a clothesline.

I'm glad I ordered this Mania.I just had a feeling it would be worth it, and I was right.I think the crowd really made the show though, they were into it more than any other crowd i've seen in a while. Now onto what I think about the matches..
Big Show/Kane V Carlito/Masters
I was expecting like many others, for the titles to go to Carlito/Masters, but that wasn't a big deal. It's good that the titles remain where they're for now, as it keeps us guessing. It was a decent opening match.
Good MITB match, expected it to be longer.Anyone know if Flairs injury was real?If it was, then that just makes me want to go to WWE and say 'i told you so'.Shelton is made for this kind of match.Hopefully he'll win it next year.RVD was always meant to win this time. Can't wait for RVD to win the title.
I was moved by the HOF stuff when Vicki/Chavo came out, made me wish I was there so i could chant Eddie's name.I kinda feel like Eddie should've been there and be facing Angle for the title.
JBL/Benoit
I'm annoyed that JBL won the title, Benoit needs a long title reign and the WWE had a good chance to give him one here but i knew it wouldn't happen.1 month title reigns really don't interest me, especially after he went through a lot to get it.Oh and i hate Jillian, her 'come oooonnnn' chants are so fucking fake its not funny. She makes me want to turn the volume down. You don't have to react to every damn move. This is what some women don't understand about wretsling and being at ringside.
Edge/Foley
Was a great match, watching it now on the repeat on Box office.Loved the bit its showing now when Foley revealed the barbwire he had guarding his chest after Edge did the spear. And Foley got his mania moment.Edge really took a sick bump to.
LOL@the freaks with Booker T/sharmell bit.I think were seeing why the boogeyman has this worms gimmick though, because its meant to cover up the fact that he's a shit wrestler. Was still an entertaining match.
Trish/Mickie James
Great match despite the botched finish, but the quality of the match made you not care about that. The crowd really made this match, and hopefully WWE will book feuds with this much attention to detail in future.
Taker/Henry could've been a piss-break match but the last ride/tombstone on Henry made it worth watching.
Vince/Shawn
Loved the bit where the Mcmahon family were praying to God and Vince goes 'Hey God, I don't like you and you don't like me':D..the match was everything i expected it to be to.Had a great finish to it with Shawn jumping of the high ladder.
Triple threat match should've been longer, i don't think i can buy Rey as champ until he beats Angle in a classic match. It was great though.Loved the fast paced action.Angle should've retained and this match should've been on last, but then it was stupid of me to think WWE would follow there own logic of the show that wins the rumble gets to main event at WM
HHH/Cena
This was a match the crowd made and they really showed up the WWE's poor ability to book a face.If this doesn't make Vince take notice then nothing will. Was a bit of a weak/rushed finish i feel.HHH should've won though.Oh and I liked the entrances. They gave the match a special mania feel.
Overall this was a good Mania, it had that feel to it.I think it was the crowd that did that. Can't wait till Mania gets held in Chicago again.

The point is that just because it's a RAW, SmackDown!, SNME, House Show, etc, doesn't mean it's not going to be a very smarky crowd. There is a supershow coming up in July I think at the Garden. The NY crowd is always .... dare I say it ... MAKE IT OR BREAK IT for a lot of characters in limbo. Lita goes to the ring and gets torn apart. Lesnar gets booed out of New York. If they go there right now, Cena would get the same treatment.
And if the rumors are true about RVD cashing in the MITB at One Night Stand...I hope to god Cena isn't champ then.

Well imo it felt like a wrestlemania.I'm amazed that to some people(gohan) it didn't.
Besides the MITB match, was there any interaction between brands at all? I thought they normally did that kind of stuff, even just for humour without leading into any angles down the line.
