Nice.
After reading up on Kiwanuka, apparenty he's a pass-rusher, so maybe he'll be a LB...despite his size.
Nice job picking Moss...if they can nab Marshall or Youboty next they've got a sick draft going

Jets get Clemens. Still missing a RB, unless they want to stick with Houston.

I'm not TOO upset with Fassano going to Dallas. I really hoped the Cards would pick him up in later rounds though.
They still need a TE.

Denver better take Bloom though
Also, how long is each pick in the 3rd round?

Drew to the Jags. Not sure they needed him though.

Fuckin Patriots got Jackson, i cant believe he dropped that low. Cowboys still need some db's , I like both picks thus far though.

I completely missed it, but somehow the Vikings traded for the Steelers second round pick and drafted Alabama State's quarterback. Still don't know what was traded for it, or why they didn't take Croyle...I thought we got rid of Tice?

Don't sleep on David Thomas, didn't he have like 10 grabs in the Rose Bowl? Patriots draft was pretty bomb, bit surprised they got no defensive players but I still like it anyways. Assuming they will pick some type of a defensive player tomrrow. At the sametime a lot of people where thinking CB but I don't think so, they got a corner and safety in last years draft and the 2 draft before that they got Scott from Florida who has been injuried the last 2 seasons. So they actually got some players in the secondary, just none of them can stay healthy
Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-29-2006, 11:29 PM
And about Kiwi moving to linebacker on the Giants, I don't think so. He has never played that position at all and I don't think he would be a good fit at all. I think he could be a very good defensive end in time, he needs some work but he had a great junior season then tailed off a bit his senior year. He was injuried for a lot of that year too though due a cheapshot by some faggot on Virgina (Tackle opposite D'Brickashaw)
Evil Vito
04-29-2006, 11:46 PM
Well that's good to hear...guessing it's gonna be a dogfight between Justin Tuck and Kiwi the next 2 years to see who replaces Strahan
They took some ILB named Gerris Wilkinson with their 3rd pick. Never heard of him...I would have gone for Gabe Watson at DT, personally

Why did they draft Cutler after Pumbler help lead them to the AFC title game?

So that we can groom Cutler for 1-2 years and he can play in his third
Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-30-2006, 01:36 AM
I think it is going to fuck up with Plumbers head and make him lose all his confidence. Resulting in Denver having an 8-8 season or something like that. Maybe it will be like the Drew Brees thing, where Plumber will feel the heat and do really good. I don't think so though, I just don't see Plumber viewing it like that, especially with his past history.

Yeah, I don't know, but we'll see I guess. Taylor is getting up there and teams like to have their RBs young. I like that Pearman kid they have backing Freddy up now though, but I don't work for their player management. I'm not sold on that Marcedes cat either.
/sigh
I'm not sure what the Colts were doing in this draft. I like Joseph Addai ( Mainly because i've won the Hiesman with him in NCAA 06 ), but Dominick Rhodes, given a few games to get into starter mode, will probably be just as serviceable as Joseph Addai for the next 3 years. And considering who was left on the board ahead of him. We could have helped ourselves alot more by not taking a running back with that pick. I really thing either Demeco Ryans or Winston Justice should have been this pick. Specifically Justice considering we showed a few flaws in protection last year and Mario Williams was drafted by the Texans specifically to stop Peyton Manning. Howard Mud is one of the best O line coaches in the game and would develope him into monster.
Hey Stima. Enjoy that 4.85 40 time you just drafted at Rb. Is there any truth to the rumor that The Patriots drafted him to spite the Colts? That Jackson pick was clutch though.

Oops sorry he got 262 yards rushing (43 carries) in the game before the Ohio State game (Wisconsin)

I'm pretty happy about the Bengals draft. Jonathan Joseph was someone they needed and that guy from LSU looks pretty nasty. Bye bye Willie Anderson though :wavesad:
Thats about 5 and 4 yards a carrie. He need every bit of those carries to accumulate those yards. 4.8 is pretty slow. Emmitt Smith was considered slow. I think Bettis rana 4.6 or 7. I think your first rounder will be a bust . Your 2nd rounder might be a star.

5 yards a pop is bad now? If anything that shows that his 200 yards wasn't a fluke off some 88 yard run or something.
Ohio State had one of the best defenses in the nation last year, and he wasn't exactly playing with a all star team up in Minnesota. He was still able to put up huge numbers despite that.

I don't know why the Packers traded that pick to NE where they took Jackson. The Packers shoulda taken Chad Jackson THEN trade Walker to the Broncos for the next pick..so they woulda had back to back picks and a replacment for Walker already..idiots

Pretty boring Seahawk draft. Filled a few needs but no shockers like we're used to. Taking USC's FB was stupid though, I forget his name.
Crimson
04-30-2006, 07:02 PM
I think I heard Kiper said he was the best FB in the draft, unless it was someone else. And Strong is gettin old.
The Miz
04-30-2006, 07:30 PM
Strong is getting old, and that is why we have Weaver. Kirtman is not a dominant blocker and can't carry the ball at all so why waste a pick on him? He's the kind of guy you would use a 7th round pick on, there were still many players remaining that could have helped us alot more than this guy.

The Miz, I hate to rub it in, but what position was Vince Young drafted to play?
:p
I've said all along he'd be drafted as a QB. I said he wouldn't succeed there, and if he does succeed in the NFL, it will be at a different position.
BCWWF
05-01-2006, 12:27 PM
Vince Young is a really bad passer, and has a terrible arm. He is great in college because he is an excellent running QB. He has no chance to be a QB at the NFL level.
Yeah he does. Texas passing game is a short passing attack, lots of screens and quick slants and such. Any throw longer than 25 yards Young floats it. He can get away with it play against Big 12 defenses, not NFL ones.
Yeah I was thinking he would try the NFL as a WR, but isn't he pretty big? Maybe he could play TE, I have no idea how his blocking and pass catching skills are though. I just know he's a good athlete and might be able to find a place to play. I guarantee you he will not start an NFL game at QB though.
Technically your position still stands, he is yet to start a game at quarterback. That being said, I think some NFL scouts had some differing opinions.
Jesus Shuttlesworth
05-01-2006, 01:09 PM
Yea but nowhere in those posts did he say Vince was going to be drafted at a position other than QB. He assumed he would be better off at another position. Vince better hopes he makes it at QB because he isn't fast enough to play wide out. Plus nobody was really on Young's nuts until he tore apart USC's D in the Rose Bowl.
Young ran the most basic offense ever at Texas, it was pretty much check this one route or run - everything out of the gun. One team asked all 3 top rated QBs the same question (From SI) What play is your favorite on 3rd and 4? Young talked about a basic base play from Texas, Culter picked a played with 3 route options and Leinhart said he couldn't decided between 8 different plays. Personally I think that says a lot.
Talking about how big of an arm a QB has is pretty overrated to me. Considering the longest deep ball a QB usually has to throw is 45 yards. Thats not that long of a throw. Vince Young will be a star for the Titans.
Supreme Olajuwon
05-01-2006, 01:49 PM
Even if Young's arm is adequate for the NFL that doesn't mean he'll be able to read defenses. He also said in an interview that most of his running plays were called passing plays that he improvised.
Plus Skip Bayless called Young a hall of famer so if that's not proof he's going to fail I dunno what is.

Tim Biakabutuka had 313 yards rushing againest Ohio State in 1995.
He also was getting like 8 ypc in the NFL but got hurt every other game. Had he been able to stay healthy, he would have put up HOF numbers. It got too much so he was cut and never had a chance. Though he was getting old by the time the Panthers finally gave up on him. Still... One game he had like 13 ypc. Total monster.
As per Maroney... the guy the Colts were salivating over. Pats got him, now RP is saying he's going to be a bust. That's pretty sweet right thurr. Maybe he will be a bust. I don't think he's as good as advertised, and I'm a MN guy. He was a system HB who just happened to have more speed than Tapeh or Barber. That means after that initial burst, he could stretch the play for an extra 10. Also, he was playing with the Gophers line in its prime. I don't think MN will see a line as good as it was last year. And Mason said that Maroney's problem was he was looking for the home run. If you look up-field and don't concentrate on making the most of your run, you won't succeed in the NFL.
But LOL@me not seeing this thread.
Jesus Shuttlesworth
05-02-2006, 12:24 PM
Yeah I guess that's true. When Biakabutuka started 11 games he gained around 700 yards. Still though, just becuase a dude has big games in college doesn't mean he will turn out to be a success in the NFL. I'm just not sold on Young because many people didn't feel he was going to be a good NFL pro until post-Rose Bowl, kinda funny how one game can change a guys NFL prospects.
Supreme Olajuwon
05-02-2006, 04:58 PM
Regardless of his college stats or his athletic ability, the only reason I think Young will be a bust because he won't be able to read NFL defenses and if you can't do that then you'll never be a good QB.
BCWWF
05-02-2006, 07:44 PM
The reason the Miz and I started on this when we did last December is because outside of this board I have never heard anybody imply that Vince was more of a prospect at a different position than QB. I am in a Big 12 school and have seen Vince play this year, and the idea that he would be drafted as a WR didn't even exist. I'm not saying that he will be a great quarterback, I am just saying that I've never heard people so adamant that he can't play QB outside of this board.
Gonzo
05-02-2006, 08:00 PM
I might've said somewhere along the way that Vince will never pan out as an NFL QB, because I sure have held that opinion ever since he really took off. I frequent some college football boards quite often, so I might be confusing here with those places.
