This season has been going pretty damned strong so far. I'm still not sure how Ortiz and Shamrock have been able to stand each other so far. Right now the teams are tied. Alot of people couldn't believe Noah beating Jesse but I knew it was gonna happen the whole time (As I won $20 off of the fight with my friends). I could tell by looking at the two who was going to win. Jesse is really spontaneous and doesn't think things through alot. Noah seemed more like the guy that would basically stay nuetral until a perfect opportunity was given to him. That's exactly what happened. Noah was getting pounded for awhile but kept calm, kept his composure, waited for his spot, found it, and then submitted Jesse rather easily. Awesome fight. I love finishes like that.
Anyways... what have you al thought of the season so far?

Ortiz loves the deaf kid. His work ethic n such. We are getting to know the fighters a lot more this season without the competitions.
Awesome so far. Apparently only gonna get better. Especially with the Brits holding it up. And at least one of them is gonna be there for a long time.

They couldn't have asked for a better result than that Noah/Jesse fight. Jesse was just a huge prick who got his mouth shut. Noah just listened to his coach and did what he was supposed to do.

Good season so far, can't really tell how it matches up to the other two quite yet though. I liked Season 1 better than I did Season 2 for sure though. This season does look promising however. BTW, I hope Noah loses his next fight.

Tito chose the next fight. He chose the Brit, Ross from Shamrock's team and from his team he chose Kendall. Big height advantage for Kendall. Interesting how they've got so much more personal info this season. I love it. Fight is 40 minutes from now :D Can't wait.

Good god, that wasn't even close. Kendall destroyed him. Ross made way too many mistakes for it even to be a fair fight. He didn't listen to his corner at all (except for a weak kidney punch), and gave up his back twice. In short, Ross got fucked up.
Ol Dirty Dastard

Kendall is a damned good fighter. Laid waste to Ross. It's a shame Ross is done though, he was a good personality.
Man, that team dagger shit has to stop lol. SERIOUSLY
I like Rory Singer, probably because he trains with Forrest Griffin, and you can tell he doesn't take himself too seriously.
Ed Herman is hilarious. I like how Tito was all "fuck I can't believe I didn't choose this kid, meh...now I'm gonna fuck with him every week".

I hope Gracie beats Hughes. I don't consider Gracie to have been cheap in the early days of UFC, he was an innovator. He changed the way MMA was fought, in fact the way it's still fought. I mean shit, back in the day he was beating guys with arm locks and the announcers didn't even understand why his opponents were tapping out. It wasn't until replays that they'd see him cinching in the arm bar or whatever. Hughes is a big mouth to boot.
Tito is coming off as a way better person than I thought he was. It's not just the fighters that you learn about, but these two coaches.
I hope Shamrock's reason for no showing on the next episode is legit and not just him not showing up.

Beat him good. Rob, you're down to 1 Brit.
I know. And he happens to be the favourite for the show with a MMA 10-0 record :D
As for the show, I think Ross was too over confident in his KO power which is something else to be fair. Probably the strongest and fastest hands on the show. His submission skills are piss poor. 4 out of 5 last losses before the show by submission.
I put a hell of a lot of the blame on Ken Shamrock. The guy is a fucking disgrace. How can he give his fighters so much rest, tell Ross his ground game sucks and then know he is gonna be fighting and not teach him a single submission attempt or escape? His team mates tried to do more to help Ross than he did. His attitude on the show has been absolutely piss poor. The fact he doesn't show up for training, nor send any of his staff either is mind blowing. And he has the nerve to question Tito Ortiz's attitude? Ortiz never pulled off anything this unprofessional. Anything he never did was to hype his fights.
I was dying for Ortiz to smash his face in come July but now it's Griffin vs. Shamrock on that show so that will probably be the last we ever see of Slamcock. Not a day too soon either.
Can wait for next weeks show. Bisping should bash that deaf cunt into the floor. :D
Tito is coming off as a way better person than I thought he was. It's not just the fighters that you learn about, but these two coaches.
I hope Shamrock's reason for no showing on the next episode is legit and not just him not showing up.
That's because Tito's rep is all from hype on PPV shows. He has never acted unprofessional in public (aside from the night he got drunk in London and got a couple of punches from Lee Murray). They edit shows well. You'd think Shamrock was a saint before now.
Shamrock's excuse might be legit next week. Things happen so that's cool. What isn't cool though is why the 2 other guys didn't show up or why nobody told the guys training was cancelled and that they had to take it into their own hands. Luckily they are smart enough to do so. Ortiz must be lapping it up after this.
YOUR Hero
04-22-2006, 08:10 PM
wait. Ortiz and Shamrock aren't fighting each other now?
Nope. Ortiz can't get back to 100% for July because of his knee tears. The winner of Shamrock vs. Griffin will fight Ortiz but I'd strongly favour Griffin to KO Shamrock now. I'm pretty sure it's the last fight on Ken's deal too.

No, he won. There is a difference. He got handled until Soloman gassed out.
God damn Shamrock, get those guys running some laps.
No, he got his arse kicked. When you get hit with the best kick of the fight (which wasn't that good) and punched in the face until you are out cold than that equals an arse kicking. Rory wasn't getting handled in the first round. He lost the round but there were maybe 2 decent punches and 1 slam. The wrestling was the shits, no real submission attempts (and Rory had a stupidly easy shot at an ankle lock or heel hook) and no good elbows. Solomon's boxing wasn't that good either. Low jabs? What the fuck?
Shamrock came off looking like a total jerkoff starting nothing with Tito. Why does he keep telling Tito to remember the last fight? Tito knows he whooped Kenny all over the shop. Kenny should remembering the mess his face was. He is in sooooo much trouble in July.
And Rory is a dead man when the semi's roll around. All the other middleweights who already fought would have killed him. Even Ross and he had zero ground game.
Rory was in complete control to be honest. He got put on his back and went into textbook back defense. Solomon couldnt get a clean shot at all and wore himself down trying. Second round Rory caught him with a kick ( more like knee to the head ) and Solomon dropped. It wasnt really a fight to me.
Soloman was probably right too. With more conditioning he probably could have won by just putting Rory on his back and punching.

so far, this season hasnt captivated me the way that season 2 did. i like the way that the fights are being set up. while it makes it so that all the good fights are likely to come later, at least this way everybody has to fight. the problem is that i dont really give a shit about any of the fighters. it's hard to care whether they win or lose. in the first season, i hated Leidman, and thought that Forest Griffin seemed pretty cool. in the second season, i was immediately able to get behind Rashad Evans, and also Luke Kumo was an interesting character. this season, i think maybe the remaining Brit seems to be a well rounded, tough fighter, but thats as far as it goes.
I disagree. This years show has been phenominal. Probably more characters last year but the heat on this show is friggin unbelievable. They are doing an amazing job of making you want to see guys fight.

Wow, I have the complete opposite reaction. Season 2 was pretty bad IMO. The only one in the whole house that I liked was Jorge. Most of the fights weren't very good and most of the fighters weren't very entertaining.
Season 3 on the other hand has had my interest since the beginning, and there are several fighters I'd like to see progress. I also think that the Rory/Solomon fight is the first one this season to even hit Rd 2, heh.

05-12-2006, 12:03 AM
The guys were getting sick of Matt being cocky and going 100% in practice. Kendall rocked him in practice with a stiff kick, then Josh rocked him again with a stiff uppercut. They were saying its the first exposure he's had to a real MMA punch, but Matt thought he had a broken jaw. They took him to the hospital and everything checked out fine. He milked it and tried to get people to bring him sandwiches, etc.
Josh and Tait were picked to fight.
Noah got a letter from home. Somebody told his girlfriend (of 6 whole months) that he cheated on her, and he made a big deal about it like somebody died or something. He finally told the house what happened and they were like "meh, big deal." He demanded a phone call home, or he was leaving. Dana gave him the "do you wanna be fucking fighter" speech, then told him to pack his bags.
Noah is out, somebody else is coming back in... *end of episode*

I thought about this also after the show ended. It has to be a light heavyweight right? Noah was a light heavy, would only make sense to give Tito a light heavy back in return for one leaving. So if thats true, I think its going to be Jesse. I tried to find a list of the ultimate fighter season one light heavyweights, but I cant seem to find a decent site for it on the web. If it was an season one light heavy that would be awesome depending on who the person was.
I just dont think its going to be anything other then a light heavy, but someone could move up a weightclass easily from middle to light heavy. Solomon to me looked like he would be better fighting at a light heavy class for example, not saying its him because he just lost last week, but he is just an example of someone who could move up a weight class. That one episode of the ultimate fighter ross was 199 pounds before he went to bed and everyone was freakin out that he wasnt going to be able to drop the weight. Then he woke up, weighed in at 191, and everyone got off his case. Could be a middle weight that just put on some pounds.
how did he lose 8 pounds in his sleep?
He didn't eat or drink anything that night where his body would retain the water. He obviously knows how to cut weight better than anyone else in the entire UFC since they are all starving themselves and sweating off anywhere from 12 to 25lbs.

I had 20-18 for Tait. Josh seemed very ineffective for a large portion of the fight, Tait kept looking for submissions and takedowns. Josh landed some good shots and had some nice escapes, but I didn't see anything that convinced me to score a round for him.

Tait won the fight hands down. i lost faith in the show after that decision. if it did go a third round, Josh would have been knocked out or submitted - or their would have been a stoppage.
now it is hard for me to get out of the habbit of scoring a fight like this: "who would have eventually won the fight?" but clearly, Tait would have won in a third round, and i think it is clear to most people that at least the second round was dominated by Tait, and if Josh won the first round, it was by a thin margin.
Josh was not impressive to me at all. i actually felt as though I could have taken him. he looked like what is called a fish. once the fight went to the ground he just sorta flops around. at best, he looked like a Tough Man Contest fighter - not an MMA fighter.

First round was 10-9 Josh, Tait wasn't solid on the ground yet. Second round was 19-0 Tait but I could see an argument for 10-8.
I wanted a third round dammit

You just said Tait won hands down and yet said Josh won the first round and Tait won the second. How the hell does that work out? Tait didn't win hands down anyway. It was a close fight and he lost a decision. Personally I thought he won at first glance and on review, I had it a draw. And you can't say Tait would have definately won the 3rd round because a single shot can change a fight and Josh was more likely to get that shot (not saying he would have though).
First round was 10-9 Josh, Tait wasn't solid on the ground yet. Second round was 19-0 Tait but I could see an argument for 10-8.

Out of interest, what arguement could you have seen for a 10-8 round to Tait? To get a 10-8, you have to dominate the round and be in a extremely good position to finish the fight and Tait didn't do that.

Naw, Tait pushed the action. Lots of knee shots, lots of submission attempts, even when he was dog tired he was still trying to finish the fight. Tait won in my eyes, no comparison. Bad call on judges part.
Innovator
05-19-2006, 10:45 PM
Josh was tired and wasn't landing the shots he was in the first. When it went to the ground Tait was constantly going for submissions, and was a couple seconds away from making Josh tap to a couple of them. Josh was just getting pushed around the second round.
Again, that would be my argument, I wanted Josh to win

I dont think the last fight had a clear winner and it should of gone to a 3rd round. They gave the fight to Josh because of the knockdown in the first, but I wouldnt of even considered it a knockdown. It looked like Tait slipped more then anything else.
But this is what happens when fighters dont finish, they leave it in the hands of the judges, and no one wants it to go that way. Both fighters need more training, especially more cardio work. Tait's submission work wasnt solid, but it was terrible either.
I just saw it as another fight with 2 average fighters. You put 2 people in the ring that arent well rounded and you get a lame fight. What I thought was the funniest thing was that they hyped the fight as "one of the best of the season" and it was not even close.
Lol at Killerwolf's comment of "I think I could have taken the guy". Some people must not understand that fighting professionally isnt something that just comes to you. You train at it, and while it didnt look like Josh had a lot of training coming into the fight, their is no way that you or anyone else on this website would be able to hang 1 round with anyone that has been on the ultimate fighter. Unless of course you are infact already a fighter in MMA, but I dont think anyone on here is. Killer, you would of taken a couple of jabs from the guy and not of wanted it to go on anymore.

Yea, I guess people don't understand that a close fight doesn't necessarily equal a good fight. Both fighters looked like complete amatuers. It was FAR from a good fight.

TUF 4 news on mmafighting.com
The Boston Herald is reporting that the fourth season of The Ultimate Fighter will premiere Thursday, August 17 on Spike TV.
Season 4 will follow 16 UFC veterans as they battle for a six-figure contract and a title shot for one middleweight and one welterweight.
The UFC will do away with coaches and place Randy Couture and Georges St. Pierre as "advisors and counsels."

I predict now Kendall pisses this 185lbs division.
Ed did absolutely nothing to convince me he is anything special. His clinch looked weak, his ground and pound looked weak. Danny looked like he was lost in the headlights. Anyone else would have probably reversed Ed and pounded him. Ed wants to start worrying about Kendall and Kalib instead of trying to stir shit with Tito Ortiz. Ortiz would absolutely muller him and probably without breaking a sweat.

I don't know. It seemed to me maybe since he knew this wasn't going to be a very hard fight that he was trying to limit his chances of injury. Every blow was slow but it was hard and calculated. He was in control the entire fight (spare maybe the first punch). He knew everything Danny was going to do and had a counter for it. I'll bet he goes twice the speed and does triple the damage come semi-finals.

That fight was disgusting. Both fighters were unbelievably sloppy. A more skilled fighter would've finished either of them off with no problem. No doubt in my mind that Bisping has the competition all wrapped up now.

I seriously can't believe that Matt does not know any submission. There were like 10 oppotunities at least to put a rear naked choke on Mark and he blew it. How this fight went past 2 minutes is beyond me. He had a good jab but his defense is the shits and anyone else will punish him. Even with his wrestling, I'm not convinced he can beat anyone on the ground even in full mount ground and pound. He got in stupid submissions postions where others would have tapped him.

Well Matt hadn't been training for even a year before the show, so it's unfair to expect skill out of him. The fact that he beat a guy with more experience, and who actually had a submission game says something. He's got heart, and that'll help him in years time when he's finally making way.
With his wrestling background, the first submission he should have learned was a rear naked choke. I see your point but he is trying to get into the big time now so there's no excuses.

Matt Hamil can't continue with the competition, nor can Mike Nickels. Shamrock hustled Tito in a game of pool. A bunch of the old fighters came back for the night, and Dana asked both Tait and Kristian (who now has pink hair :wtf: ) if they wanted to replace Matt. Both declined, so they brought back Ross Pointon, who's gonna fight at 205 pounds.
They made the semi finals:
Jesse Forbes Vs Josh Haynes
Mike Bisping Vs Ross Pointon
Kalib Starnes Vs Kendall Grove
Rory Singer Vs Ed Herman
Kalib and Kendall had their fight, it was pretty even, but Kalib quit the fight in the third round because he said his rib was broken. Kendall advances.

No Tait. No Noah. No Kristian. Good job burning that bridge guys! :y: Fucking idiots.
And I couldn't have been the only person laughing when Matt found out he wasn't fighting in the semi's.
What happend to the deaf guy?
Matt Hamill beat Mike Nicholls in the first round but his body kinda shut down after it and he got taken to hospital and the doctors wouldn't release him for the tournament.
Dana needed a replacement for him. Noah quit the show so he was out. Mike Nicholls wanted to fight but had a broken nose so wasn't cleared. That left Tait and Kristian. Dana first offered Tait the fight and he refused immediately. Kristian was offered the fight and refused too. They were stuck until Dana has the fucking awesome idea of offering the fight to Ross Pointon who accepted practically before he was even asked. Oh and he accepted before he was told he would have to move up to 205lbs and he didn't care in the slighest.
Ross = LEGEND!!!
Matt came back this week and has no clue if he won his fight. Then when he was told he won, he wanted to know who he was fighting in the semi's. It was amazingly funny TV but still a tad sad.
