Friday the 13th, although A Nightmare on Elm Street had cooler death scenes.

Nightmare 1, 3, 7. Friday 1, 4, 6. IT'S A TIE.
I dunno, I like them both even though the sequels for both are essentially crap, they're fun. Freddy being turned into a comedian in the latter films pissed me off though.
Friday, I guess.
Freddy vs. Jason was kick ass though.

Meh, I like Freddy ten times better than Jason. At least his murders were creative instead of a mindless hack and slash.

Yeah I dunno. I have trouble deciding between the two. I own all their movies with the exception of Jason Goes To Hell and Jason X, which I'll get around to sometime...maybe.
I know I was rooting for Freddy during FvJ though.

Ditto. I'm with you though. They kinda turned him into a laughingstock during FvJ. :(

Personally, I enjoy Jason more.
He's more of a tank than Freddy is.
Also, on that note, there is a new Friday the 13th flick coming out in 2007. Check it out http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758746/

It's hard to decide. While Jason is a fucking brilliant killing machine, Freddy has the wit along with the death.
I thought Freddy vs Jason was actually pretty decent, shame they aren't doing the Freddy vs Jason vs Ash film. It sounds as if it would have ruled.

I've always been more of a Elm Street fan than of the 13th.
Simply put, Wes Craven is a genius. Freddy is a more creative serial killer and the death scenes are more elaborate. I was seriously disappointed that Jason won in FVJ. Freddy definetely is the smarter of the two.
I was also disappointed that the guy playing Jason in the other "13th" movies[Kane Hodder] was replaced. He was the much better Jason. You could tell the new guy didn't have the Jason mannerisms down.
Can't wait to see how the sequel to FVJ will turn out.

Bruce Campbell should realize that it would make him a lot of money.
Like everyone wants to see that shit.

It had nothing to do with Bruce Campbell. It was Sam Ramey (sp?) not wanting to give them the rights to use Ash.
