night one

A long show tonight. The "dark matches" started @ 7:30 First match was all
of the ROH school guys, nothing special here really. Next up was Chad
Collier and the ROH "Top of the Class" Student. Chad beat him via
submission with the Texas Cloverleaf.

Colt Cabana def Jimmy Jacobs w/Lacey with a powerbomb float over pin. Crowd
was really hot for Colt tonight. A lot of back and forth action, everytime
Jimmy would be on the offensive he would stop and blow kisses to Lacey.
Then Colt would make fun of him and do some chain wrestling.

After the match Jim Cornette and Ace Steel came out. Cornette cut a promo
on CZW and Claudio. One of the best lines of the night was he was going to
call CZW a bunch of chickens, but didn't want to insult a chicken. Cornette
went through everyone that was injured in ROH and asked Colt to be apart of
Team ROH. Colt politely declined and said that he has to work his way back
up to a main event. Cornette then told Colt he was turning his back on ROH
and its fans. Colt reconsidered and said that no where in the ROH rule book
did it say he couldn't be involved in a fight.

Irish Airborne def Jay Fury & Spud. Pretty good match. Spud reminds me of
Rey Mysterio stuck in Spike Dudley's body. Irish Airborne had a really good
reception. They are local guys that have wrestled in backyard feds north of
Dayton, so they had thier little following there tonight. Fury spun Spud
around in the middle of the ring, attempting a team 619. Spud missed
completely. Crowd was all over them for that.

Jimmy Rave vs. Delirious went to a 15 minute time limit. This match was
terrible. It absolutly killed the crowd. Delerious is good from 8-10
minutes, to get in all his spots, but anything over 10 he needs to be in a
tag match. DUD

Nigel McGuinness def Christopher Daniels to retain the ROH Pure Title.
Nigel won after Daniels couldn't make it back into the ring after a 20
count. They were outside fighting and the count got to 18. Nigel grabbed
the photographer and threw her at Daniels. Daniels grabbed her, and Nigel
slipped into the ring before the 20 count. I'm sure this was a great match,
but I was so blown up from the Rave/Delirious match that I had a hard time
paying attention.

Intermission

Flash Flannigan def Apocalypse with a blockbuster. DUD

Bryan Danielson def Jimmy Yang with the chicken wing. Yang never tapped
out, the ref stopped the match after Yang's arm went limp. Not a bad match,
but with their conflicting styles it was hard for them to get into a groove.

Austin Aries & Roderick Strong def Samoa Joe & Matt Sydal. Sydal was pinned
after 2 half nelson backbreakers from Strong and a 450 from Aries. Strong
lit Sydal up tonight with some brutal chops. Sydal is a great worker, but
he just looked goofy and out of his league in there with the other 3. He
pretty much played Joe's cheerleader all night.

After the match Joe said everytime he comes to Dayton, he whips some ass.
Well tonight will be no different. He calls out CZW. Necro, Super Dragon,
and Rancid (I think) come out of the crowd and beat down Joe. Out comes
Colt and Ace. Bell rings and the "match" starts. At this point all hell is
breaking loose. Necro and Joe fight to the back. Only Necro and Claudio
come walking out from the curtain. I guess they beat on Joe. After that it
was a brawl throughout the entire crowd. It was crazy. Fans were throwing
chairs, Super Dragon got nailed in the face with a soda from some guy in the
front row. I think Necro broke his elbow. He got threw over the guard
rail, when he came back over he was squeezing his right elbow. And blood
was literally squirting out of his elbow 2 to 3 inches. Colt attempts to
put Super Dragon threw a table and Dragon moves. Somewhere in this madness,
BJ Whitmer comes out. It ended when Claudio put BJ in a reverse Boston
Crab, grabbing his wrists, suspending him in the air and putting BJ's
head/neck on a steel chair. Super Dragon came off the top with a double
stomp on Whitmer head on the chair. CZW wins and exits the ring immediatly.
All the ROH students come running out of the back and check on Colt and
BJ. Colt is fine, but they throw up the "X" for BJ. At this point someone
comes on the house mic and says ROH says thanks but the public has to leave
the building immediatly. Gabe comes running down and they put BJ on a table
because they have no stretcher. Security pushed everyone out of the
building, then came out to the front of the building and told everyone to go
to their cars and leave.

All and all a decent show, Al Snow and his brother Logan Caine were in
attendance. The brawl at the end really saved it. There was a lot more
going on during the brawl too, but it was hard to keep up with it.

night 2

With the lineup looking somewhat bland and from what I read, reports were not great from Dayton on the previous night, this show totally blew away expectations and then some. A great show from start to finish. I apologize about my lack of details.

I got there right at the beginning of the preshow due to the tremondous amount of traffic for the Indians game and parking was a bitch.
I know Shane Hagadorn won a 4 way and Collyer went over Rhett Titus.

The show started late (7:45) cause of the traffic and construction problems. BJ Whitmer came out with a neckbrace and challenged anyone from CZW. Cornette (w/a crutch) and Adam Pearce came out. Cornette told BJ to rest up and fight another day. After BJ left, it was vintage Cornette. Jim ripped the company up north and then CZW. He mentioned that he needs knee surgery and wants Pearce to replace him as Lt. Commissioner. While they were leaving, Claudio attacked and bloodied up Pearce real quick and Ace Steel came out and chased him out.

Colt Cabana & CK3 d Irish Airborne. Colt's back to playing comedy. He & CK3 worked alot of headlock spots. This was my first time seeing CK3 & Irish Airborne. Irish Airborne did some cool aerial spots and messed up one or two. Colt pinned one of the Crists with the powerbomb @ 8:48. Solid.

Delirious d Chris Sabin in 12:00 with some choke submission. Good match. Delirious is very over.

Jimmy Jacobs won a 6 man mayhem match involving Spud, Trik Davis, Flash Flanagan, Jimmy Yang & Jay Fury. Fury & Yang worked some cool spots. Good highspot action with a couple missed spots. Jacobs pinned Davis with the contracode.

Claudio Castagnoli did a promo from the balcony challenging Joe to a "wrestling" match not a fight. Joe came out to a huge ovation. Crowd was all over Claudio. They had a solid wrestling match that ended when Nate Webb & Necro Butcher interfered which prompted a dq. Joe got layed out. Steel & Pearce came out to help Joe. Claudio walked away from the mayhem. Pearce piledrove Webb on the floor. It was all ROH until Super Dragon came out. BJ ended up coming out and it turned into a BJ v Dragon match with all the guys brawled thru the crowd and never heard from again. BJ won with an exploder thru a table.

Return date 7/29
***INTERMISSION***

Christopher Daniels d Matt Sydal when Matt taped to the Koji klutch. Really good. ***1/2-***3/4 range. Sydal seemed to have messed up his knee.

Nigel McGuinness d Bryan Danielson via CO to retain his Pure Title. Because he won via CO, he doesn't win Bryan's World Title. It would've been better with a clean finish but it was still **** and the match of the night. They went 28:34. IMO it was the best Nigel match I've ever seen. The final few minutes saw Bryan put on the Catal Mutilation & the Crossface Chicken Wing. Nigel got a rope break to escape the crossface and escaped the Catal Mutilation after being in it for a good minute or two. Nigel hit the tower of London but Bryan put his foot on the rope. It went to the outside and Nigel (I forgot how) ended up in the 2nd row. Bryan did a dive off the top rope right before the ref hit 20. He restarted and Nigel, after playing dead, snuck in to win the match.

Austin Aries & Roderick Strong of Generation Next successfully defended their ROH Tag Team Titles over The Embassy of Jimmy Rave & Alex Shelley. HUGE amounts of toilet paper. Shelley sold a shot to the face. Very funny. Shelley was hiliarious with one liners poppin out of everywhere. This match was really good. I'd go ***3/4. Strong brutalized Rave with his chops. Finish saw Roddy hit a double backbreaker combo and Aries hit the 450 on Rave. Shelley was holding his neck on the floor. Not sure if it's storyline or not. Great way to end the show.

One of the better outings that I've seen from them (or anyone) lately. It great matches of different styles. I definetly recommend this show when it comes out.
