View Full Version : According to Meltzer...it's final. *One Night Stand 2 Spoilers*

According to Dave Meltzer, the decision is final and John Cena will be Rob Van Dam’s opponent in the main event match at the ECW One Night Stand PPV this June.

Apparently WWE will be using this opportunity to officially turn John Cena heel after being booed by fans for months. It also appears that this will be when RVD will cash in his “Money In The Bank” title shot, thus indicating that Cena will continue to retain the WWE Heavyweight Championship. credit: Wrestling Observer

See where as I see that it would be ok here to lean away from the JBL vs RVD match or the RVD vs Mysterio match, that's fine. But even if they do turn Cena heel, especially since it will be in the confines of The Ballroom where fans will be able to do basically whatever they want, could they actually let Cena retain . Would it make sense, because personally I believe that it would kill RVD's credibility. To lose an ECW match, in his title match, would kill it.

 What if everyone at ONS totally cheers Cena and boos RVD...just to fuck with everyone's brain. If there was one group of wrestling fans who would do something like that...

But no seriously, I am salivating at the idea of the heat Cena will get. Win, lose, or draw, Cena may be close to getting Lawler ECW heat...oh god...oh god...WWE just secured my PPV money.

for Cena to go over as a Heel, he'd have to Retain.
This is still a shitty situation. Hopefully RVD can DRAG a match out of him =/

Cena will do everything to retain, I just know it. He'll hit an FU off the top, put Van Dam through tables and call in some of his WWE buddies. But it'll come down to Van Dam hitting a Van Terminator followed by a Five Star.

Cena will get the most heat anyone has gotten in YEARS, especially because at least 2/3rd of the fans will be Smarks and the rest will be marks who think they love ECW.

I think that Cena should go into ONS as face, lose the title and then turn on RVD at the end.

I think RVD will win the title and, Shane Douglas style, throw it down and declare himself the new ECW World Champion, leaving the WWE title for Triple H to regain it.

It was the whole Shane scenario with the NWA that kick-started EXTREME Championship Wrestling back in the day. Maybe history is about to repeat itself? It will certainly seem controversial to the casual/newer fans who never saw the original angle, and help get ECW over as a rebel entity.

Now, Cena has low work ethic, no mic skills and bad in - ring skills. RVD has gone through major changes since joining the WATERED-DOWN KING OF WRESTLING, the WWE... ...WWE running ECW shows sounds bad, since of course, it will be a web show for the time being, and why? Because they don't wanna stop running AM RAW!?

ECW will NEVER be the same again, no matter what! Corino never wants to come back, because even he knows the trash WWE created of ECW's legacy... ...I know I should just take ECW for what it'll be worth, but to see what I and so many others have that Vince has done to the reputations of those great wrestlers of ECW is horridly gross...

I miss the REAL ECW. I only wish that this return proves worth it...

Again, I would not mind watching Cena & RVD go head to head, but to let Cena retain the title at ONS seems a bit disrespectful to the fans that made ECW, those same fans who helped shaped and form the way Pro Wrestling would be viewed for years to come.

Vince says the fans are important, when he truly thinks of us as sheep. Well, fuck you Vince McMahon: I will enjoy and hate whom I want to hate whenever I want to (IE: Trying so hard to shove whom we can and cannot like down our throats)...

I really don't like Cena in this match because I know it will not be the crowd vs. Cena the way I want it to be.

Cena will be going in KNOWING he is going to get booed, he is expecting it, he wants the boos.
It's fun watching when he is trying to be a face and gets boos against his will.
Watching ONS just won't be fun because the boos won't bother him, it's only good when the boos bother him.

To me, this is a major disappointment that the main event isn't going to be Triple H vs. RVD for the WWE Championship at ONS 2.

Triple H is the embodiment of everything an ECW fan should hate. He's the bosses son in law, he's married to Steph, he's on the booking committee, and he's held the WWE main event scene in a strangle hold for nearly four years now! RVD defeating HHH inside an ECW ring would've been a landmark moment.

Instead, we're going to see him beat a lamer white boy rapper who hasn't been taken seriously (in storylines or in the eyes of the fans) in several months.

Oh well. RVD with the title is going to be gold. Just hope he doesn't get Benoit'd.

Mr. Nerfect

Am I the only one who thinks it is insanely stupid to have the WWE Title defended at an ECW event? RVD is going to need to justify this in a pretty awesome promo if the true ECW fans aren't going to chant "You Sold Out!", "Fuck You Both!" or something like that.

When is the WWE vs. ECW special? I think it would be so much better if Van Dam won the WWE Championship there, then resurfaced at One Night Stand II, opened the show with a promo, and spat on the WWE Title before adopting the old ECW Championship. For his first defence, he could face Sabu in the main event.

I'm not trying to be negative here, but as soon as John Cena gets time on an "ECW PPV", I can see the loyalists shitting all over the entire event, maybe even walking out. That's not the way the WWE wants to commence this whole new ECW thing.

Eh, while I wouldn't have chosen this originally, the idea is growing on me. Whether or not you jumped the bandwagon or not has nothing to do with the comment you made. I was merely assuming you were a bandwagon jumper (which even if you were you would not admit too).

As it is saying the guy has no in ring skill at all, no mic skills and no work ethic is complete and utter bullshit. His ring work while limited at the moment is far from shit, I have a real tough job faulting the guys effort (in or out of the ring) and even his most vement of detrators cant help but admit the guy is nothing if not 100% commited too the business.

Then again, you would know better being an Indy big wig and all while the guy who put him there only runs the most successful wrestling company in the history of Wrestling.

Okay, this I have to argue with. While John Cena may not be the best in-ring performer in the world, nor is he the best technical wrestler, nor is he the most charismatic by any means, he does not "SUCK."

Mark Henry? He sucks. Recently, The Undertaker has sucked. Chris Masters sucks. How can you say that John Cena sucks in the light of so much sucktitude in the WWE?

His days in OVW as The Prototype aren't neccesarily very good measures of how good Cena can be in the ring, considering OVW is where GREEN wrestlers train to become better. His matches with Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho were brilliant when he debuted, and while both Angle and Jericho can pull a great match out of a lot of stinkers, Cena contributed just as much to those matches as they did.

His current gimmick does really suck because they're pushing him as a "street fighter" instead of a "professional wrestler" which he really is. They replaced his awesome Throwback move, yet they kept the Five Knuckle Shuffle. The WWE are idiots when it comes to booking Cena, and that truly does suck.

Yeah, his gimmick is being ripped apart by the writiers, I agree, but "I" represent one voice, my own, just as any other member on this forum.

I personally think he sucks, and this is from what "I" have seen and since my times following his career. If you ever read my other posts, you'd see that I believed that at one point, he was going onward through a great character, and it was because he still had some control over his own character.

Now that the writers are in control, he's on a downfall. Do I think he would've done better had he continued on his own accord? His own raps, ryhmes and promos? Yeas, I do.

I know for a fact that the writers fuck everything up, and so does Vince. It's the fact that he is trying to hard to shove Cena down my throat that gets me pissed. Cena is playing the role of a dog, following strict orders and becoming the next Mr. T (1800 Collect) all over his entire body and soul...

I know Henry sucks, I know as of late Undertaker sucks, because he can't cut it anymore. The "WALKER TEXAS 'TAKER" gimmick sucks, and again, I blame that on the writers.

John Cena sucks, because he allows himself to drown in the pool of bad gimmicks, fairy tales and utter bullshit. I truly wish I could look every Monday night and watch him do his own thing, but I can't... ...and that sucks.

And yeah, Cena sucks. Cena sucks for his in ring skills, he's slow and highly predictable. In each and every match, I already know I'll see an STFU, and FU, a five knuckle shuffle and his "YOU CAN'T SEE ME ROUTINE", hear him say "WANT SOME, COME GET SOME!" and even watch him win matches in poor fashion (EX: Backlash 2006)...

Cena sucks because he embodies all that is wrong with the business. You have guys like Bret Hart get their legacy ripped and shit on, because such fucks like Cena can make it to the top by merley riding and banking on five year olds. Bret, Hogan, Blassie, Macho King, and so many others worked their asses off not only to earn the respect and admiration from the fans, but made Pro Wrestling what it was to the adult audience. A Sport. Something the Japanese and Mexicans still work THEIR asses of for to this day. And something that will NEVER again be the same, in the United States...

A Sport. Something the Japanese and Mexicans still work THEIR asses of for to this day. And something that will NEVER again be the same, in the United States...
Hah hah hah hah! I quite literally laughed me ass off at how melodramatic this post is.

We all said the same thing last year when they did the RAW/SmackDown invasion, and it was pretty much universally considered the best PPV of 2005.

So, I'm going to trust Paul and Tommy to take whatever WWE saddles them with and spin it into gold.

When you put it that way, I do have faith for it to turn out OK. I just hope the WWE doesn't expect Cena to not get chairs thrown at him or something. :-\
