View Full Version : If you love Finlay, time to start hating Johnny

from Alvarez

There is, in fact, a fucking midget signed that will play Fit Finlay’s leprechaun sidekick. I know this sounds impossible to believe, particularly after the great Benoit/Finlay match on Smackdown. It makes sense when you know the back story. John Lauranitis has been very outspoken in recent months about Finlay becoming a worker again. In fact, he had been negative on the idea for about two years, ever since the subject was first broached. He said it wouldn’t work, Finlay would be more valuable as an agent, it would kill his credibility in that role, etc. It wasn’t until Finlay went directly to Vince McMahon that he ended up back on TV. Lauranitis complained left and right when the deal went down. Well, shock of all shocks, the Finlay experiment ended up being a success. So then a couple of weeks ago, perhaps on the flight to the UK, Lauranitis suddenly had AN IDEA. He went to Vince and said what if we have this little fellow, a leprechaun, who hangs out with Finlay and gets hit by attacking Finlay’s opponents, and sometimes accidentally messing things up for Finlay himself. Vince loved the idea and told him to find a midget. The rest is history..

This proves that Vince is incompetent. He loves an idea that a bitter Johnny Ace used to punish a guy who was getting over too much.

Way to ruin another credible contender.

The list continues.

Yeah... just when I find a favorite, they just know when to fuck it up.

A midget. Shelton had Mama, Estrada with Jamal-ga, and now Finlay with Johnny. All we need is Benoit and a horse and Triple H with new manager, Q-Bert.

If it's a horse from another dimension that stares at children as they sleep through an open window, it might be ok

And I think giving HHH a manager that can only speak in curse words wouldn't be that bad at all. 20 minute long promos that have been completely bleeped out would probably still be better than 20 minute promos that I've heard a million times before and put me to sleep.

Great, another reason for me to turn the channel over when watching Smackdown. So far this year the reasons have been:

1) Undertaker's entrances
2) Boogeyman
3) Great Khali
4) Rey Mysterios title reign
5) Jillian Hall
6) Mark Henry matches

I wonder what the next one will be after this....

1) Undertaker's entrances

He only has one, it just gets interrupted by 2 commercial breaks.

Hey, I like Shelton's Mama. The man had no charisma until his mom came, and then his promo ability went up, he actually got a character, and she left as soon as she wasn't needed to get him over anymore. In my mind, that's exactly what Thea Vidale was supposed to do.

...the leprachaun is a god awful idea, though. Unless he's going to help Finlay protect his lucky charms. And even then, maybe it's not enough.

Welcome to TPWW! And that's a great point about Mama Benjamin!

Although the Mama gimmick grew on me, and I think they should bring her back from time to time, have her show up at big matches to show her son support etc.

First off, you're confusing "charisma" with mic skills. The guy had plenty of charisma, which is why he was pushed when Charlie Haas ended up packaged with Rico and then Holly. One was considered charismatic, one was...Well, not.

Further, though SB's character did change, his ability to cut a promo never really did. He never improved with Mama around, and he looked less important for the effort. Flair looked good in that angle, because it took Mama and a fire extinguisher-sized tank to take him down. Then Shelton has a weak IC title defense, and drops it to the who F'ing show.

Johnny (Ace) needs to go.
He knew exactly the kind of SHIT Vince can't let go and dumped it on Finlay.

I thought Finlay the "generic Irish drunken asshole" character was kind of wack but the ringwork more than made up for it. But the leprechaun thing is just another in the series of the things WWE needs to LET GO. Wrestling fans, mark and smark don't wanna see that shit.

never noticed the leprechaun in finlay's Tron vid though

It's funny just how clichéd Finlay is, and yet how awesome he ends up being.

Come on, Celtic Cross/Knot, a Shillelag?

Maybe if they get a drunk and bitter enough midget, it can be saved. :D

If they make the leprachaun like the mobile ball cleaner Peter Griffin gets at the country club in that episode of Family Guy where he has a near death experience and gets the revelation to treat Lois better... that'd be sorta funny.

Otherwise, Johnny Ace needs to develop elephantiasis or something and be permanently taken off the writing team.
