From Observer:
--The Sci-Fi Network is preparing a press release that will be released once either Vince or Linda McMahon approve the wording. It is expected to be released within the next week, possibly before Raw on Monday, and unless there is a late change, ECW will start on the network with a weekly time slot in mid-to-late June.
Sci Fi Network :wtf:

Sci-Fi network is a pretty good choice, I think. They are pretty relaxed with the censorship on their network. They show Tripping the Rift and other shows that walk the line of acceptable for basic cable. It should give Heyman the ability to push the envelope.
And if you think about it, Wrestling has never been on a network that seemed appropriate. They're currently on a basic cable channel who's biggest show is reruns of Monk. On the Network side, UPN is known for being the channel that shows black shows that no one other than black people wach. And hell, they used to be on The Nashville/National Network. I'd give Sci-Fi network a chance.

It should be noted that their move to TNN was actually in a network attempt to change it to Spike, which wrestling is a perfect fit for...so that might not be the best example. But the rest of your points are valid.
Well while it may be true that wrestling hasn't always been on the same track as other programming on the network, there is still the fact that ECW is in no way "sci-fi" or "science fiction". This is dumber to me then the people that decided to show live action movies on a channel who's mission statement was to show cartoons 24/7.

WWE's move maybe, but ECW was on The Nashville Network long before SpikeTV had been thought of.

I totally wasn't even thinking about ECW, odd since this is a thread about ECW. :shifty:
...flipped through some channels...remember what they air on MTV...retract previous statements about not staying on the format...
What, you think MTV has anything to do with music?
What, you think MTV has anything to do with music?
I don't feel any version of MTV really has anything to do with music at this point.
...coolness either...
BTW, not to go off topic, but did anyone else ever see that documentory on how cool is marketed to the public.

I don't really care on what channel ECW shows as it's a good show.
Who cares what channel it's on?? Just watch it...

Kinda hard to do if we're not caring what channel it's on, as we will - when the time comes - need to be able to successfully switch our television to said station.

Okay, this is amusing to me.
I thought it must be a joke.
You see, back when management was changed at SciFi, certain shwos were cancelled. The ones most nerds got up in arms over was Farscape (Especially whining that they sacked it for SGAtlantis). The reasoning behind this is because they wanted something more mainstream, with Sci Fi programming more like the Sixth Sense (One of the actual movies named) or a couple of others.
Their new programming? Tanked. Stargate and the soon-added BSG were their only rela ratings grabbers.
So if it's true. LOL.

I thought you might have meant Hollow Man, because along with Sixth Sense, that may have been one of the movies they mentioned wanting to be more like.

OH! I remember invisible man! The Quicksilver thing. I saw like 3 episodes. I actually had to explain the Tommy Walker reference to the friend who introduced me to the show.
Sci Fi is owned by NBC / Universal the same company as USA so it makes sense why its going to be there.

They need to be on tv if they ever want a chance to make the ECW brand into something, so if this is the best they can do, they might as well go for it, for now.
My question is what day it will air and at what time.

I just ad an awesome thought though. In ECW's timeslot, we see a letterboxed commercial, showing Chris Jericho standing over the decimated Triple H. He's holding up the Heavyweight strap, and his music is playing. Suddenly, the "IF" Sci Fi logo shows on the screen. :D

ECW was on TNN because TNN was a redneck channel and alot of folks (at least around here at the time) suspected that pro wrestling was entertainment for rednecks, up there with monster trucks and other hillbilly fanfare (also featured on TNN). The equation of wrestling = redneck has died down drastically since the 90's, though, if not killed off entirely.

TNN was trying to change its image at the time though.
Of course, this was before their "We've got pop (By pop wee mean Bob Newhart)" phase...

Yeah, I always hated those "pop" commercials. Actually, the "we've got pop" bs was worse than when it was a redneck themed channel. Spike has evolved since then[thank God].
But, ECW on SCI-freakin'-FI network?! :wtf: :shifty:

Ok, so I'm cool with ECW being on sci-fi. The next step is to fix Smackdown. My suggestion is to move it to HBO. That way, it can maintain its current non-existant audience, it will still suck complete ass, but people will rave about how awesome it is, thus selling merchandise like mad and making wrestling mainstream again.
Seriously, though. You wanna know what always got me about the Sci-fi channel? For a few years they showed Mystery Science Theater 3000, with Mike Nelson hosting the show. I never actually got to see any eps with Joel, so I thought the Sci-fi MST3K was awesome. That didn't stop them from canceling it though... So, in the following weeks I would try to break my habit of switching to Sci-fi to watch my "progrems". Whenever I turned on Sci-fi, I swear they would show equally attrocious movies as the show that aired really attrocious movies but made them funny and entertaining. Nice move, Sci-fi. You've really come up in the entertainment world. I'm sure you rake in the ratings now. [/nerd]

That's only in America, however. I believe Sky Sports have the right to all WWE programming, hopefully they'll air it as soon as it starts, but usually we have to wait a few weeks to see a new WWE show, don't forget how long it took them to start showing Heat and Smackdown over here.

If Sci-Fi's newer "down to earth" programming all bombed, and it was still at least tangentially Science Fiction, imagine what this will do.
Yeah, the "We've got pop" shit was the worst. Though I didn't get TNN until shortly before ECW was kicked off the channel (Meaning I missed out on much of ECW, as well...), so I can't much talk about the Redneck Network. I remember I'd go over to a friend's house, he'd watch ECW and that Roller Jam show that was on there, so I got exposed to a bit of it before that, but still limited. I don't know anyone who watched more TNN than that.
However, Getting Raw was a big coup for TNN, this might be a coup for SciFi, even though the odds are pretty slim (SCiFi has a huge stigma along with it, and ECW was never huge ratings)

LOL. The sad thing is, the shit on now is worse. I watch their Friday lineup (SG-1, Doctor Who, etc.) and they always have ads for "Mammoth" or "Artificial AI" or "Mosquitos."
These aren't even B-Movies.

Remember, that was like 6 years ago. The WWE and Sky have a much better relationship now, what with all the new deals they continue to sign, and us getting Raw live and Smackdown before the USA. Hopefully they should come to an agreement pretty fast.
