Mr. McMahon has announced that in an effort to boost the new ECW brand, Paul Heyman will be given two draft picks – one from RAW and one from SmackDown.
Who Mr. Heyman will choose is anyone’s guess. Will he make that announcement on RAW tonight? WWE.com caught up with Heyman to find out.
“Well, first of all, I don’t think Mr. McMahon gave me anything,” said Heyman about his two draft picks. “I think ECW earned the right to have a draft pick from RAW and from SmackDown. And if you want to know whether I’ll reveal this information tonight, then you’ll have to tune in and find out.”
Paul Heyman is scheduled to be on RAW tonight after being challenged to a face-off by former ECW employee and current WWE Superstar Mick Foley. WWE.com talked with Foley today to get his comments on tonight’s face-off.
“We’re having this face off to clear up a couple of myths – namely one about me being some kind of prostitute,” said Foley. “If anybody has stood up for what’s good about sports-entertainment, I think it’s me. And if indeed I am a prostitute, then I’m just one with a new pimp named Mr. McMahon. And all things considered, I’d rather prostitute myself for Mr. McMahon than a low-life like Paul E.”
The situation between Foley and Heyman is a powderkeg ready to go off at any time. One thing is for certain, this will be one extreme face off tonight on RAW.
To see how it all unfolds, tune in to RAW at 9/8 CT on the USA Network tonight.

Curious to see how this plays out.
(Xero already eluded to this, but I didn't catch it. This is the scoop and whatnot for those too lazy to click the links. :p)

I'm actually genuinely curious about this. As bad as most of WWE has been lately, they keep giving me at least one reason to tune in.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I guess like anything WWE does, it has the potential to be very good or very bad. I just hope that whatever they do, they don't take away from the actual Raw/Smackdown roster. I mean, I think it's been a lot better lately (opinion, of course), but they need all the help they can get.

Let the speculation begin on who he's going to pick.
I hope he drafts Eugene by calling him out, in character, starts a promo in-character, and then Heyman says "now let's hear what you REALLY have to say" and Eugene rips off his Eugene jacket revealing an ECW shirt.
Nick then rips into the WWE for putting him in the retard gimmick which led him to drugs and rehab. It would SHATTER WWE kayfabe but it would be such an awesome moment.

I think it one might be ether Edge or Jbl as last year they where the most vocal wwe superstars agasnt ECW ONS . It would be perfect as ECW could start with a well established heel as most of the returning ecw superstars will be cheered.
Imagine all the storylines with Edge and JBL agasnt the whole ecw rooster.
Or I would have Heyman pick Burchill or Johnny Jeter. It would be great for these two young guys who have "main event" written all over them to be given a start in ecw with new gimmicks and an arena to show off their wretling ability

I'd actually kill for him to draft Kennedy off of Smackdown. Make an angle out of it where Kennedy could say that he's tired of being censored, tired of being silenced, and that in an extreme environment, he can say what he wants to who he wants.
Actually, whatever gets Kennedy back on TV suits me. :(

- Spoilers -
So what's left for Smackdown? Right now they've got Rey, Henry, Taker and Booker T. Mark Henry becoming World Champion is becoming more and more a likely reality.

Well isn't Batista coming back soon, same with Orton. But even so it seems the yare giving their Superstars away. JBL fired, Angle gone to ECW, Melina and Nitro fired, Mercury in rehab. Smackdown is slowly becoming the B Show again in my mind.

Okay, spoilers, tardboys.
One way or another, RVD was going to ECW. Why waste a "Draft" pick on something that was already coming?
Angle makes sense, because he's not the sort you'd expect to see go ECW. On the other hand, he doesn't make sense, because that's just begging for him to die.
I guess it's better to tap out than to fade away.
What the fuck is up with RVD being the pick? Did I hear wrong, or didn't Heyman explain that anyone who wants to jump can?

Exactly my thoughts. It's like they're trying to kill him by sending him to ECW. He has enough problems as it is.

I just hope the "New ECW" has a place for him to not kill himself.

So wait, DID Heyman use the Raw draft pick for RVD, or was it just taken for granted that he'd be the one to fly over to ECW?

...While it may not be a huge surprise that Mr. Money in the Bank Rob Van Dam was Heyman’s pick from RAW,...

People think he won't fit the mold of ECW. These are the same people who figure that ECW was nothing but barbed wire, fire and chairs.

Surely you know he has a history of neck problems right? And has other injuries at the moment ive heard, thought he was meant to take time off recently.

I think he'll fit in just fine. I'm just concerned about how long he'll last due to his neck injuries in the past.

That's what I was thinking. Seems like he shouldn't have to waste a pick on someone who is basically the last of the ECW ambassadors in WWE.

Angle will fit in very well in ecw, imo.
ECW was not just home, to hardcore violence, but also, amazing technical bouts. Mysterio, Benoit, Jericho, Eddie, Psicosis, Malenko, Scorpio, Lynn all wrestled for ecw. And they made ecw the place to see fantastic counter for counter tech bouts. Until they all left for wcw anyhow.

I think Angle is a cool choice because it wasn't expected. However, obviously his health is a huge issue, which seems to have put a negative spin on the decision to move Angle to ECW. I hope he can stay healthy, and if so should provide a nice element to the development of the new ECW. He also gives them that star power, and a quality main eventer if he can be healthy, which is a big if.

You know, given what they've been hyping, I don't blame anyone for thinking that. Beyond that, Angle's got serious health issues.

Exactly. Remember the 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Chris Jericho vs. Shane Douglas vs. Pitbull #2 fourway match for the TV Title?

I was hoping (out loud, no less) that when he was talking about the new style of ECW that he was talking about cruiserweights. I was really hoping Gregory Helms was his draft pick. Kurt Angle just doesn't make any sense to me.

The only way I can wrap my head around this botch of logic is that Vince could have told Heyman that champs were off limits.

And even then, they could pick people who weren't going to automatically JUMP when ECW was open...Angle made sense, for that reason. I mean, maybe he would have jumped ship, but he's someone unexpected.

Its WWE, no doubt next week Heyman will come out and say "Mick Foley just assumed it would be RVD... and then annouce someone".
Maybe he'll announce Lita as his draft pick just to piss Edge off. Then Matt Hardy could come over to fued with Edge as an excuse as to why he jumped ship saying the loser left raw but this is ECW.
Just an idea I had.

I have a little bit of insider news. It doesn't regard the draft picks, but apparently WWE just signed the Beasts of Burden ("Evil" Helvis Elliot and The Original Sinn) to be on the ECW roster. BoB are doing their last indy show at my former workplace UCW tomorrow night, but apparently they signed their contracts last night.
I gotta say, that's a good signing. Both guys are really talented, and they work the ECW "style."
