I'm really in the mood to make some music but I can't seem to find any free music making software. I've found ones you pay for but they range from $40 to $500 and I'm not going to pay just to mess around with music. I'm talking about the stuff that has drum samples and guitar sample and you can re-arrange them. Kind of like Music 2000 back on the PSone.
Anyone know anywhere I can safely get the right stuff for free?
BTW I'm asking here since I figured theres more chance of people here knowing about music making stuff than the Computer Help forum.

Download.com has some music editing programs. From there, you can find a free one, and it's easy as Hell to grab loops on the internet. Just look for Sample .WAV files ("free WAV files" or something) on google.
I don't know a specific program, because I was looking for a drum machine, not a mixer/editor/game.

I miss MTV Music Generator 2 for PS2. It isn't the most respectable music maker but damned if I didn't make some sweet tunes. I have a single 3 year old file in my memory card that I refuse to erase on the hope that I'll find MG2 again, although it's true sequel is already out (it ain't MG3).
What kind of music you put together, Drake?

Isn't there a decent free version of FL sans cracks? I seem to recal using it, but I think the only cracked software I used was Cakewalk.

I think FL used to be free, but not anymore. It's pretty good software.

Don't suppose they are legal, are they?
Do they install any spyware or whatever?

No, it's not legal, but noone is gonna catch you.
no spyware, if you don't say yes to anything from the crack sites besides downloading the crack itself. Otherwise they will install spyware, common sense.

224MB of RAM but the download in the Tucows page you linked to said it was needing something like 145MB and that I only have 60MB but my coputer is pretty empty accept for a few music files and Ad-Aware theres nothing on here.
You know what, I just decided I'll go and buy a 2nd hand copy of Music 3000 for the Ps2 instead of downloading one here.
Repped you for your help anyway btw.

It's easy, to say the least. I used to use it a lot, but without good .WAV samples, everything sounds all gay techno trance shit.
The stuff Gertner would dance to while smoking one guy and taking another in the ass.

Gotta agree there. Dunno if you guys have ever listenedt to any of the stuff on www.ocremix.com, but with some good samples, you can make anything from metal to hip hop with Fruity Loops.
