View Full Version : Not gonna lie, ECW has kinda gotten me interested in Raw in a little bit..

Just a bunch of random shit here, I used to watch it all the time but I totally lost interest around 2000-2001ish. This whole ECW thing has kinda made me interested to check out RAW again (There is a ton of dumb shit which results in me turning the channel though, pretty much anything outside of the main event shit/ECW)
So as I've been watching I've noticed a few things. This whole RVD and Sabu going for WWF titles to make them ECW ones is kind of weird. Since it was RVD and Sabu fighting off all of the ECW wrestlers as they came down to the ring while the King was in the ring talking shit about ECW back in like '97 or whatever. Plus isn't that where/how Rob got the nickname "Mr. Monday Night?" since he was for RAW and againest ECW or some shit? I realize it is all fake and people forget but it is kind of funny.
Plus why does everyone hate Cena? He is the fucking man, plus he is from the Boston area so that makes it even better. I don't get why he gets boo'd, probably because he isn't a self proclaimed redneck (aka the majority of Wrestling fans) and likes rap music (probably another no-no among wrestling fans)

I don't mind cena, but he gets hated on pretty hard. His gimmick got pretty lame for a while there, and it was mostly due to his gay mike work.

People boo Cena because he isn't as entertaining as he used to be since they changed his gimmick.

What was his original gimmick?

He used to be a rapper that would cut freestyles on his way to the ring. As a heel he had some really good zingers and his raps were entertaining. Then as a face at first he started to pander to the crowd more, his raps would be mostly gay jokes and then he'd end them off with "choke on these nuts" and throw a bag of nuts at the guy.
Then they dropped the freestyle thing, he was sort of a thug but they pushed him more as an anti-authoritarian/poor man's Stone Cold gimmick that people didnt respond too. That, and his matches are pretty lackluster.

He used to freestyle on his way to the ring? That sounds pretty gay - like was it serious or was it so ridiculous that was funny? (Like how Edge and Christain where)
He does seem like a "new age" Stone Cold though, but I dunno why that would result in people booing him.

Personally, John Cena's schticks have always seemed too forced. He overracts everything. His freestyles were basically an Andrew Dice Clay routine (he was loud, vulgar and acted badass). I personally haven't really thought he was anywhere near the level of Stone Cold, but I will say that he has become so watered down compared to what he was. Seriously, how many times can you see some punk wigger from the suburbs overcome rediculous odds. Even Stone Cold didn't win a 10-on-1 Blindfold Pit Of Death match against 10 ninjas. John Cena has overcome every single thing they have thrown at him. Even Austin got beaten every once in awhile, the only time Cena has been beaten was at NYR and they ruined that. He used to at least seem normal. Also, I hate the spinner belt. It looks so fucking stupid.
Also regarding your whole redneck crap, I live in Texas and when to a house show awhile back and I was surrounded by inbred hicks. They loved John Cena. The whole wigger thing has fused with redneck culture. It is not uncommon to see folks "bumpin" Tupac from their chevy with racestripes and Dale Earnhardt Jr. bumperstickers.

Wigger is such a dumb word, haven't actaully "heard" it since like 1993 - said all the time on TPWW tho.

When he was freestyling and shit, his delivery was on and off, but the actual lines were sick.
Then when they first turned him face in late 2003 he actually gave the Big Show the FU (kind of a shitty death valley driver). He was actually bad ass and more of a tweener then.
Now he's half Stone Cold, half Hogan and all vanilla.

I remember one of his freestyles ..he was saying to Angle before a ppv (Cena had a match with Undertaker). Went something like " ...by the time your match comes half the people will have left the arena...they all know the real mainevent is Undertaker John CENA"
Most were pretty funny, I actually looked forward to them till he stopped doin 'em.
