View Full Version : Will Vince McMahon allow ECW to become his #1 Brand?

With only days before One Night Stand and not long to the official relaunch – everybody seems to buzzing about the resurrection of ECW. I have friends that haven’t watched wrestling since the Attitude era asking about the ECW revival. Bottom line is – this ECW stuff is creating a lot of fan interest.
Now with their launch on the sci-fi channel soon approaching – and with Heyman and Dreamer in charge of booking, in my opinion the brand has a legit shot at being the most watched brand – pending availability to most people. If this does indeed happen, what do you think will happen? Will Vince allow this ‘outside’ brand eclipse his baby WWE or do you think he’ll begin to raid the ECW roster much like RAW did Smackdown?

Vince loves money, if it makes money then for sure he is going to let it become more successful.

Well its his brand now so I don't see why not...
When ECW starts I'll be watching it a lot more than WWE though, that's for sure.

What I don't get about people saying no is, well then whats the fucking point? He already said he has plans to make ECW big and take it global, so that tells me he is willing to make it the no.1 brand. Unless the WWE dramatically changes direction, then i can't really see how WWE will top ECW.
WWE is going downhill.
ECW is going up.

This is exactly what I thought. Wanted to see how the rest of board thought.

No.
But I can also see the roster split ending now.

I brought this up in the RAW discussion thread - but I don't think I got an answer. Question is - how much do you think it would cost the WWE to licence real songs? ECW did it and it was no where near as financially solid (that may even be an understatement) as WWE.

It would still cost quite a bit, not sure of the real costs, but Im guessing it would cost the WWE more than ECW as it was going to a larger audience (?)
Also, vince is a cheapass about that kind of stuff, he'll probably have all the ECW wrestlers coming out to rehashes of "Real American"

One word for ya: EGO.
WWE is Vinnie Mac's baby. He created it, he probably believes he single handedly built it up from nothing (not true) and he has been through every peak and valley with it.
ECW is somebody elses creation, somebody elses baby, and traditionally, Vince makes it a priority to prove how WWE and HIS wrestlers are superior to the rest of the world. There are SO many examples of this from over the years.
While ECW has a fighting chance of making it big, Vince will never allow it to outgrow Raw and SmackDown.
We'll have a fair indication of this tonight on the Head-To-Head show anyway.

what im guessing and hoping is that that they make raw and smackdown a single brand again, and have ecw (some name) on thursday nights or have raw monday ecw wednesday and smackdown friday (thursday for me on channel 410)
which means that on monday, it whould be ok, wednesday even better, and on thursday smackdown and tna impact what a week of wrestling that whould be 4 shows and 7 hours of wrestling

Well, your blind faith is amusing, but if Vince won't eveb let Smackdown be a better rated show, what makes people thik that it would ever get to the point of "making a lot of money?"

RAW will always be pushed as the #1 show.
I wouldn't be surprised if they even buried ECW on the PPV. :nono:

I got a feeling this is gonna turn into the WWE vs WCW/ECW shit we saw a few years ago. ECW is gonna bust out on raw and WWE will show up on ECWs show, then we will have a final match between the two brands.

The Alliance didn't have it's own TV show syndicated on cable TV. This isn't an invasion, it's the launch of the second brand (or third brand if you count Smackdown!)

The original ECW is dead and gone, and it'll never be the same. Not hating on ECW, it's just the truth. (Although I'm hoping to be wrong)
As for everyone hating on WWECW...with Heyman at the reigns and the green light to push the ECW style in the ring, it'll have to be better than almost 100% of the bullshit WWE has been throwing on television the last couple of years, even if it isn't the same as the original ECW.
...hopefully.

We'll just have to wait and see. People are always negative about stuff like this, so i'm not surprised by the majority of opinion on this subject.

IT all depends. Heyman's been given control before, only to have it taken from him.
However, the fact remains, Vince will not let his own creation get dominated by Paul Heyman's.
That's pretty much a moot point, though, as Sci-Fi broadcasting it alone will hamper ratings.

So is anybody more positive about it now, after the Head to Head show?

I loved it, but more than a few people thought it was horrible. So I'm guessing no.
