Okay, so like, about a month ago I posted a thing saying how I was getting an error in MSN Messenger (error 80072efd to be exact), and was having trouble connecting to Google, Wikipedia, pretty much anything that wasn't in my cache a lot (I could still connect to TPWW forums, oddly enough).

Well, I use a Motorola surfboard modem, and occasionally (not all the time), my connection will do that thing, but EVERY light stays on. It tells me that it's sending signals, receiving them, and that I'm online, but sometimes I can't connect to certain sites for anywhere from about less than 2 minutes up to an hour or two (that only lasted an hour at one point though. The first time, actually. Connection usually comes right back.).

Now, I powercycled my modem earlier while the comp was still on, and the connection was fine again. I just found it weird that the modem lights were on as it was operating normally, but I couldn't connect. Any ideas on what's causing this?

Okay, so a weird update on this. The little incident happened again (for about 10 minutes or so), so I called the cable company.

The rep there was able to ping my modem/computer, and says that my speed is fine, and it's showing connectivity. He told me to restore my browser to factory settings, but it got stuck when I was deleting my offline content (temp files). He told me my best bet was to contact the manufactuer (Compaq, in this case).

Anyone have any idea about what it could be? It seems to be on MY end, but I'm not sure what I'm dealing with here.
