People's tastes in music vary as can be seen almost everyday in this music forum and that means that what one person says will not be fully agreed upon by others.

Anyways

I've noticed recently that a shit load of great music, in particular bands come from England. I just find that English bands and singers tend to be better songwriters, better performers and create a greater sound than those from other countries. Well lets face it, 90% of known music comes from the states or the UK.

examples:

Freddie Mercury/Queen
John, Paul and George/The Beatles
Duran Duran
Oasis
Richard Ashcroft/The Verve
Coldplay
Bee Gees
Elton John
Elvis Costello
Pink Floyd
Dire Straits
Rolling Stones
U2 (if speaking of the UK)
Sting/The Police
Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel/Genesis
Eric Clapton/Cream

To me, these are some of the greatest bands and performers ever. Extremely biased ofcourse. I just find music from the UK of greater quality than that comes out of the states.

Northern Ireland is, Eire (southern ireland) is not. But if I'm not mistake U2 are from Dublin, which would make them not from the u.k anyways.

Well - Muse.

There so so differnet from any other band I've heard. They're lyrics are great, and they ****ing RULE live. They put so much effort into making what they do, and all 3 members are great and extremeley funny (y) Muse rule :)

Scotland doesn't have that many good bands. :-\

Biffy Clyro, Aereogramme, Mogwai... the list isn't exactly long.
