I finished watching Dustys DVD today and I will give you some info and feedback on it.

The documentary was good but way too short. It was only 80 minutes long. It went through his early beginnings and briefly his time in AWA with Dick Murdoch and CWF and talked about his face turn from Dirty Dusty Rhodes to the American Dream. His legendary feud with Kevin Sullivan was mentioned briefly and showed only one 3 second clip. The footage about the feud with Superstar Graham was recycled from Superstars DVD in January and Dusty said it was his favorite matches ever. They shown footage of his 2nd world title win and said it was his first title win. The only time they talked about Flair/Dusty was when Dusty won the title from him at GAB 86 in the cage. Dusty said although people blame him for JCP downfall he said that inexpirenced people behind the scenes were spending way too much money on the promotion even though it was doing well. Another part was did Vince make Dusty wear polka dots in his WWF stint as a rib. Many wrestlers thought that it was and few thought it was not. Dusty's wife said she actually liked the idea but wished they made the dots different sizes. Dusty said he thought he did well with the gimmick and would have worn a diaper to get over. He said he cannot say anything bad about his yr and a half WWF stint at all because it was his largest paycheck ever in that time. His favorite feud in the WWF was against the MDM. Dusty talked about how it was his idea to put the belt on Ron Simmons in WCW as he was a American Dream type guy as well. The DVD talked about his relationship with Dustin on how he never got to spend time with him being on the road and trying to make him a star in WCW in the 90's. They had a disagreement over Dustin taking time off to be with Terri who was sick in 95 and left to be Goldust and didnt speak to his father until 1999. Dustys wife said in those 4 years Dusty was depressed over it. Barry Windham arranged at a Nitro show backstage in 99 for the Dusty/Dustin reunion. Dustin was in tears talking about the moment and how close they are now and having a blast during the feud with Flair/Jarrett in the final days of WCW. Lots of people on the documentary praised Dusty Rhodes and Joey Styles said that Dusty should be mentioned as one of the top 5 best of all time.

For those that enjoy promos theres 2 hours of Dusty Rhodes Promos

The matches.

My 5 favorite matches on the DVD are.

1. Dream Team vs Enforcers SS 89 (no Ventura commentary on it though)
2. Sting/Dusty vs Tully/Arn COTC 2 Great tag match
3. Sting/Dusty vs Road Warriors. Another good tag match
4. Dusty/Murdoch vs Muraco/Robinson 2/3 falls match AWA. Great old school tag match. The annoucer on there has mixups like present day JR and very hyper like Tony Schovione
5. Dusty vs Ivan Koloff U.S. Title this was actually a good match in my opinion and the crowd was into it.

The 2 Dusty/Murdoch vs Brusier Crusher matches are clipped and very short same for the 3 CWF matches as well as the Bullrope match against Superstar. There is 3 alt commentaries on there with Dusty/Mike Graham/Steve Romero. The 2nd Dusty/Murdoch- Brusier/Crusher Flair/Dusty GAB 96 and the Texas Bullrope match against Superstar.

Found 2 easter eggs so far.

On Disc 1 under chapters Press right on Texas Outlaws and you get to hear Mike Graham telling when he first met Dusty and Murdoch

On Disc 3 Press right on Dusty/Dustin vs Ted/Virgil and you get to hear Dibaise talk about when he came to the WWF in 1987 and Heenan choosing the name Virgil (Dusty's real name) as the name of his bodyguard as a rib and how 10 years later in WCW when they had to give Virgil a new name since his name was trademarked by the WWF how Dusty got payback and named him Vincent.

There are better DVD's out there (like Flair, Bret, and Rise and Fall) But this is a very good DVD for a great price. If you enjoy old-school wrestling or a Dusty fan its def worth checking out.

Rating 7.5/10

From what I gather, Ventura is off all compilations because he sued the WWF for using his voice for re-releases, when he was only contracted to do the live event (sort of like Enter Sandman being taken off the DVD release of ONS).

The reason they can release his voice on the show DVDs, like the WrestleMania set, is because the lawsuit, I suppose, only covered them for the already released shows, not single matches.

Ventura had been steadily losing my respect for years, and when I found out about this whole lawsuit thing he totally lost everything. And if I hear him say "We should put a Wrestler in the White House!" one more time I will personally kick him in the balls until he bleeds from his eyes.

WWE has to pay Ventura every time they use his voice as he got paid only for live broadcasts instead of videos. When he found out about this he sued and settled for 800 grand I believe in 94. Now every broadcasters contract I heard states that they get paid for broadcast and video production.
