I bet RVD will consider himself ECW Champ for ECW, and the WWE title will be vacant and have a tourney or a Edge/Cena match at Vengence for the vacant belt.

I fully expect RVD to lose the belt tomorrow night, whether through Vince saying Heyman wasn't an actual ref, or just making him lose the belt in a rematch. It will suck, but tonight is for us fanboys as one Cena fan called it.

Dude, I couldn't blame you for thinking they would do some crap ending. I thought the same. It is cool, lets just take tonight and enjoy cause the same old WWE crap returns tomorrow night. In fact, while my rep gives only like 5 points, you still will get one.

Sounds like a 24 hour reign to me. Like its been said earlier, is the title given back through a reversal, which makes for decent tv WWE/ECW heat, or does RVD do the job on Raw?

I'm going to go with the Vince reversing the title change, causing major WWE/ECW storyline heat, which makes sense because the two brands are supposed to hate each other. RVD is then declared champ on Tue.

loopydate
06-11-2006, 11:27 PM
Yeah, tomorrow night Cena gets the belt back because Heyman isn't a real ref. Cena fights Edge at Vengeance.

Heyman awards the ECW Title to RVD anyway. Maybe we get a rematch at Summerslam.

Now, see, all of this would have been cleared up if they'd had Fonzie count the pin instead. He is, after, all, the man who calls it right down the middle.

And was Trinity in the ring with the guys at the end? There was a woman in there that I just couldn't place, but I think it may have been Trinity. And, if so, why was Trinity in the ring?

Okay, overall PPV thoughts:

---

Sabu vs. Rey was AMAZING. That was the match I wanted to see from those two before Rey went to WCW, but never got. The ending was complete and utter bullshit, but the match itself was phenomenal. It was nice to see Rey "unleashed" again.

It really did look like Sabu hurt his bicep on the first table spot, so it doesn't surprise me that they used that as their "excuse" to stop the match. Does anybody else think that the guy who called off the match might wind up being a recurring character on Sci Fi? He came across as a smarmy heel, and they could say he's from the New York Athletic Commission or something.

I liked that they made the Taz/Lawler match so short. While I would have liked to have seen Taz have a full match, that was an excellent way to start the night. The most vocal ECW critic gets choked out in less than a minute. And  at Joey putting the sleeper on Lawler.

Yoshihiro Tajiri looked amazing. Getting his release from WWE did him a world of good. By the end of his WWE tenure, his ring work had slipped a little bit, but this was the Tajiri I remembered from ECW. He and Super Crazy made a pretty good team. Mamaluke looks good since he bulked up. I haven't seen any of his stuff since ECW shut down, so he was a really pleasant surprise. And the double-muscle buster was a great finish.

The hardcore tag match was ridiculous. It amazes me that those guys can turn what - on paper and computer monitors - looks like a CZW main event (flaming barbed-wire 2X4s? Barbed-wire boards?) into a match with great psychology. Every high spot furthered the story, and every risk had a point.

I was with the crowd, though. I really thought that Sandman was going to come out and save Tommy. Funk's "Spirit of '76" comeback was pretty cool, but I wanted to see Sandman doing something other than caning a retard.

The finish, with Funk having to be cut out of the wire reminded me of the brutal wire match he had with Sabu. That's the only wrestling match that ever actually made me sick to my stomach.

Back to the Sandman/Eugene segment, did anyone else think that was going to be Dinsmore coming out and de-Eugening himself? He could have said that Heyman offered him a spot in the new ECW, and he jumped at the chance to shed the insulting gimmick that he had to take on to be a "superstar." Ah, well. Maybe we'll get a payoff on RAW.

Cena really impressed me in the main event. I wasn't sure how he'd take to playing the heel, since it's something he hasn't done in almost three years, but he did very well. Obviously, it wasn't going to be hard to be the heel in that match, but he had that crowd eating out of his hand. I gained a lot of respect for him tonight.

The main event was very good, if a bit "WWEish." Where was the RVD crowd dive? The Van Daminator? Perhaps even a Van Terminator? Hell, where was Bill Alfonso?

But overall, the show was very very good, and I'm hopeful for the new ECW. It wasn't nearly as good as last year's show, but considering that last year's ONS was one of the best PPVs in the last five or six years, that's not really that big of a complaint. Can't wait for Tuesday night.

Good show overall. Not as good as last year, but I wasn't expecting it tobe. The one thing I would've liked to see was the debut of some of the OVW guys coming up to ECW (IE Punk, who prolly would've got a more than decent reaction).

Tazz/Lawler: Exactly what I expected.

Angle/Orton: Not great, but nowhere near awful either. Got Angle over as a killer, which was all that it needed to do.

FBI/Crazy-Tajiri: Another fine match. Mamaluke didn't look as good as I've seen him look in ROH. Loved Big Show actully pulling out a new move (For those wondering, he gave Mamaluke a Cobra Clutch into a backbreaker, then flung him across the ring).

Mysterio/Sabu: Any Sabu match that isn't a total clusterfuck is a plus. I marked out for the old school Misterio attire. Finishing spot was sick, but come on, an injury stoppage in ECW?

Dreamer-Funk-Beulah/Edge-Foley-Lita: Funk is insane. Suprised there was no flaming barbed wire table spot. Very good stuff.

Tanaka/Balls: Needed more time. Finishing chair shot was a sight to see.

Eugene/Sandman: Man, was I wishing to see Nick Dinsmore cut a promo on his gimmick.

RVD/Cena: Match of the Night, if only for the crowd atmosphere. The bit with the t shirt and hat was priceless. Now that I think about, the finish was a fine way to go. Of course it'll get overturned tomorrow, but the ECW fans won't care. They got their victory.

The following is from WWE.com:

Just 24 hours after losing the WWE Championship in controversial fashion at ECW One Night Stand, John Cena looks to exact revenge from one of the men that cost him the gold – Edge.

Back on his home turf, will Cena be able to make the Rated-R Superstar pay for spearing him through a table at One Night Stand? Or will Edge continue to get the best of the former WWE Champion?

Maybe it wont be overturned

WWE being too cheap to use Sandman, Balls, and Tommy Dreamer's music = bullshit. Especially not using Enter the Sandman this time I mean wth?

Pretty good show, not as good as last years but still better than most wwe ppvs. Sucked that RVD couldn't get a clean win and they had to use Edge to interfere.

Gone Mad
06-12-2006, 02:04 AM
Yeah, I read that too in the preview. Something will be up Monday for sure or at least a mention for the title change to happen on Tuesday. They just gotta get you to watch ALL the shows.

But anyways, onto the show. Match of the night was to me, the Edge/Mick tag match for the drama that went on and it made all the men look good, especially Edge. Actually, alot of the matches were good, not classic, but Cena/RVD tops mostly for the crowd reaction. We all died laughing at the shirt and hat throwing session and the FUCK YOU CENA sign bit, it was something else.

I wanted Cena to win though just for the reason I wanna see how the crowd would REALLY react. They tear shit up, it be a riot. Rey/Sabu ending, eeeh, one of the biggest complaints along with lack of ECW wrestlers. I understand last year's "reunion" vibe but I wanna see more of the roster. All I know is with a small crowd, it def. made it very, very unique and more exciting show.

Edge vs Cena for the vacant title. Cena MAY win so PERHAPS Edge has cost Cena the title. In my opinion the crowd was better this year. Throwing Cena back his t-shirt was pure gold. I loved every second of it.

Every match impressed me. I expected Balls vs. Tanaka to blow me away but it didn't however it was still a good match.

Following his controversial win of the WWE Title at last nights ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view, WWE is not expected to strip Rob Van Dam of the Title tonight on RAW.

It's more then likely that when he does lose it, it will be as a result of a match, reports Dave Meltzer of WrestlingObserver.Com.

KingofOldSchool

Although it has already been announced by WWE that Edge vs John Cena will face off tonight at RAW, WWE.com has posted the following concerning the title situation and RVD:

Controversy is reigning supreme following ECW One Night Stand. Rob Van Dam is celebrating like he's the new Champion, but is that really the case after everything that went down in his match against John Cena? That question will be answered as the Championship situation will be cleared up right when RAW goes on the air tonight at 9/8 CT on the USA Network.

Oh, was I the only one who thought that Orton got Wood-Shedded during his match with Angle? I mean, it reminded me of Goldberg/Regal at times, as in Regal mat-wrestling and Goldberg looking completely clueless and almost pathetic. Orton also looked like he was getting stretched with some of the armbars.

The part where Angle sunk in the fish hooks and Randy fell caused a ton of laughs where I was watching it (with two wrestlers). Orton also looked really bad blown up halfway through. You'da thought he spent some time working on his cardio during his suspension.

Well, you have to believe that this match against Kurt Angle at an ECW show, in front of the most hardcore ECW fans out there, is certainly punishment for Randy Orton's previous actions.

I couldn't help but feel like the first half of the match was supposed to be a 3/4 shoot/work. I even thought I heard Angle mutter "you want to work the match now?" when he first brought Orton to the turnbuckle and they started "pro-wrestling" as opposed to "amateur style wrestling."

Well, PWI is reporting that Heyman loved the show. The finish to the Rey/Sabu match was planned. Both got a bit banged up but nothing serious. Cena loved the crowd and acted very professional in the back. Was also very professional about having to drop the title which is a nice change from the usual. Also Funk had to get stitches for a cut very close to his eye. Links are at the PWI website.

I guess he could have came out during one of the entrances or before or something but you'd figured somebody would notice some random guy wearing a motocycle helmet coming down the aisle then going under the ring.

Or maybe thats why Cena stood at the entrance ramp for so long holding the belt up in the air, to give Edge time to get down the ring. Because I am pretty sure that is the only time the ring ever went "dark" before the main event.
