Okay, just to start off, I know there will be a lot of threads on the core issue here for which this is a spoiler. Every retard and their mother will make a thread on DX, but this is more a minor thing with JR's announcing of their return.
I know this is a relatively minor quibble, all things considered, but shouldn't he have waited like another minute to really announce the return of DX? I rewound my tape a bit, and I don't think it was worth definitively announcing DX at that point. Even after the crotch chops and mooning of Vinnie Mac, it wasn't necessarily definitive. And yet, JR was having an Austingasm over this when thus far, HBK had come out to take out an enemy he and Triple H had in common.
I don't know. It just seems like it'd be more intense had he not been calling it then. Especially since Mötörhëäd was the song used and everything. He and Vince were too "in the know" on this. It kind of ruins the disbelief that we're supposed to suspend in order to be "surprised" by wrestling.
I caught that. He announced it before they even did the X high five (I think). However, he was saying that "the rumors were true", which leads me to believe that, while he SHOULDN'T have announced it, with the rumors (internet sites and the all-too-obvious PPV promo) it was a "known possibility".
Also, am I the only one getting tired of JR's use of pop culture references? He used at least one last night and it's getting tiresome.

We're pretty much tired of him in general.

I agree with you KK. JR's commentary just seemed to forced, I think that's the best way to describe it. It didn't feel like a 'shocking' moment. WWE used to be so good at delivering shocking moments.

was this sussposed to be shocking though?

JR was a little forced, but WWE missed the point creatively by not playing DX's music there.

Why would they play DX's music? That would make it seem planned considering they havent played the music for ages.

Well, they could've made it feel 'shocking' atleast.

Its all done by computers now so it'd be quite easy, heck they were playing kanes old music and thaty wasn't sussposed to be planned........or was it?

Good point actually, would've been great had they played the old DX music.

Yeah man, that's the first thing I noticed. Shawn Michaels came to Triple H's aid, and all of a sudden, "BAH GAWD! DX IS BACK!" It was more or less a "what the fuck?" moment to me.

JR and King's commentary the whole night was godawful IMO. Especially during the Wet & Worthless match. It was really embarrassing. With the new ECW about to launch, JR and King on commentary gives the vibe that father time is passing Raw by and there's about to be a new mother ship...IMO of course.
I feel ya on the DX thing KK and was thinking the same thing. As far as the music goes, I think it was a good idea not to play it yet...only if the purpose was to start the next Raw off with "Are you ready?" Combined with JR's premature immaculation, it would have seemed way too forced.

Yeah, but they always have that "surprise" Superstar's entrance theme ready to play. Run-ins, retirees, that guy who's been out 10 months on an injury...

maybe they're going to have a new theme?

yea, maybe something by right said fred, i mean motorhead.....:shifty:
Shawn had just thrown one punch and JR started "marking out" about DX. His commentary seems more and more like he doesnt want to be there, and is just talking to fill time.

Yeah. And maybe they'd call it something different and not crotch chop?
In any event, if fake Kane can have his music cued up, surely they could have DX's music for a week or two until they offered up the new one.
Come on, Evolution had like 30 variations on their theme.

I agree. It just came off way to quick with the announcement. DX wasn't evem mentioned on tv, except for the chants, and King acknowledging them last night. Even if Shawn helped Hunter, why should it be assumed DX is back? Can't it just be two guys fighting a common enemy?

I haven't seen RAW, yet, but this DX thing doesn't interest me in the slightest. I'm sad that five men are not going to be able to take down two at Vengeance, and The Spirit Squad is going to look like shit. Just make it Kenny & Johnny vs. Triple H & Shawn Michaels. Give Triple H & Shawn Michaels the DQ win when the other Squad members run in, and then have Triple H and HBK clean house.
They should bring Josh Mathews up to RAW to replace Jim Ross.

Make the Spirit Squad look like shit? They're only tag team champions, and have been obliterating everything at Vince's command. I don't think a loss to DX will make them look like shit. Now, if HHH had went over clean monday in the gauntlet with no ref, then they would look like shit.
And Josh Matthews sucks ass.

In JR's defense (and I don't do this often), consider that ever since they dissolved DX, Triple H and Shawn, in the kayfabe, never got along and always went against one another. It's probably the first time since dissolving of DX that Triple H and Shawn was seen working together on ANYTHING! Thus, the DX idenity never did dissolve off of Shawn. Plus, with Triple H and Shawn, the two that invented DX to begin with, and how popular the faction GOT, it's no surprise that nearly EVERYONE identifies DX with Shawn and HHH, or that everyone knew iot was eventually gonna happen. Plus, everyone in the crowd was chanting "DX" during the gauntlet match, and we've been hearing about the retrurn for MONTHS, so it's not like we never knew it was going to happen (kind of like the Brock Lesner going to the NFL after WM20. The fans were so ruthless to Brock that JR HAD to say something about it).
And remember that Vince was somewhat feeding the lines.
But that doesn't make JR excempt that he's an idiot and past his prime. He was having an orgasm over it, for sure. And as far as pop-culture refrences, the only one I remember was his reference to the Dixie Chicks concert tickets (they aren't selling, or something like that, from what I got), and that annoyed me by itself.
I would give Todd Grisham another chance. Vince seemed to be fond of him filling in that one time, and I'm in the minority on the internet in saying he didn't do THAT bad.

now all we gotta do is call Rock, D-Lo, Godfather and move Mark Henry to RAW and bring back The Nation
