UFC 60 Scores 800 000 PPV Buys !!
K-1 producer Sadahuru Tanigawa recently spoke with the Japanese sports media, and announced that the Fight Entertainment Group and K-1 have received $16 million from Zuffa and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

According to Tanigawa, the UFC's May 27th event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, headlined by Royce Gracie versus Matt Hughes, did an astonishing 800,000 pay-per-view buys and that the overall show including pay-per-view buys, live gate and sponsor ship made approximately $32 million. Due to the FEG and K-1 having Royce Gracie under contract, and lending his contractual services to Zuffa and the UFC, FEG and K-1 have now inherited half of that $32 million dollars.

Tanigawa was quick to point out that this incredible profit is the main reason that Dream Stage Entertainment wants to bring PRIDE to North America, as the American pay-per-view market is much more lucrative. Tanigawa further rexpressed his desire to bring the HERO'S brand to the United States.

Referring to the massive American pay-per-view market, Tanigawa said, "Things of this scale can't be done in Japan." In Japan, the pay-per-view market is not as coveted as in America and thus organizations such as K-1 and PRIDE still depend heavily on live gate, merchandising, and television advertising deals to profit from events.

I'm not really into MMA, bud christ! That's one hell of alot of attention right there!

I wouldn't believe that figure just yet but it definately beat out the 400,000 of the last show. And it probably beat Wrestlemania's domestic buys.

Unlucky Vinnie Mac

Matt Hughes is $. He killed Gracie. It was beautiful

Also UFC's build up to that fight was incredible. They actually got you to believe that Gracie had a chance which he didn't.

Ken/Tito 2 coupled with Tim/Andre 3 will blow those numbers out of the water too. UFC is the future man, MMA is coming to take the Wrestling Market, and due to McMahon and CO sitting on their asses and bringing in Nick Jr. writers...let's just say it won't be a hard fight for MMA promoters to win.

Alright so if these numbers are right(which it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't). Bitter Revials PPV will do a million plus then.

That would be insane.

Funny how the staples center didn't even sell out though.

I believed before this show that Ken vs. Tito II would be the biggest MMA show in North America on PPV and at the gate cash wise and I still believe it.

And Nick Jr writers would be a serious improvement for what crap they have now. At least they understand their audience.

Yeh, this reeks of when everybody went nuts at the report that One Night Stand last year did over 800,000 buys. It'll take a while longer for the proper figure to come out.

Difference is that everyone knew really that ONS didn't do close to Mania buy rates.

I don't believe it's this high for Gracie vs. Hughes but it wouldn't surprise me if it was. Whatever the final number is, it's gonna be real impressive.

Wasn't tito vs Forrest like 700,000 buys? If that were true then I could see this 800,000 being true.

If not then it would be 500,000-600,000 which is still way more tbuys then any other WWE PPV outside of the big 4.

Why would people want to watch UFC when they can watch a subpar soap opera?

It's like the people who love the news and then watch daytime soaps.

This has nothing to do with anything, but have you noticed since Tito has been back Chuck's time on screne in commercials, highlights shows, etc. has been way down. I love how when Ortiz was gone Dana White couldn't stop saying "Chuck Liddell is the face of what UFC is all about!" and now that Bad Boy is back, he don't get shit for time.

It was about 400,000.

Alright then most likely 800,000 would be a bit fabricated.

Chuck Liddell is tough as nails but personality wise, he is super boring. The only time he is remotely entertaining is when he was feuding with Tito Ortiz and we know who has the charisma there.

Chuck also hasn't had a fight since 57
