View Full Version : Do the Spirit Squad really deserve the push they're getting?
I'd like to start this and say that, while I HATE them, I can understand why some people can get a kick out of them.
However, they have main evented or have had a main event segment for more than half of the past 5 months of RAWs, they are the tag champs and are probably main eventing Vengeance. Why, may I ask, are these men the center of RAW?
Sure, they may be entertaining to some, and sure, they're some good talents, but in now way do they deserve as much of a push as they are getting. I would have left them in the upper-mid card at best, with the same gimmick, minus McMahon. Not getting WWE title shots and wrestling Triple H and Shawn Michaels every week.
I do understand that they tie into the McMahons' angle, but shit, they couldn't come up with some guys with better gimmicks than "random annoying cheerleading cunts"?
So, I ask you, why are these men one of the bigger focuses of the RAW brand?

Cause the Spirit Sqaud is Vince's baby.

I'm as big a Spirit Squad fan as there is on this board, but there's no way they should be main eventing as much as they are. They're usually one of the most entertaining segments on RAW, but there's only so many times you can have Vince punish someone by sticking them in a 5-on-1 match before it gets really old.
They're the Tag Team Champions, so why not use the heat they've garnered to help - and this is a radical idea, so bear with me - get the Tag Team Titles over. Their credibility has been established because of these matches, so let them use the rub they got from Vince to help get someone else over. Build the tag division back up.
Lately, though, they haven't had much of a chance to do what they do best (annoy the crap out of people with poorly-synchronized cheers and pull off crazy spots) and are either just being fodder to make Triple H look good or are doing gang beatdowns consisting of punches, kicks, legdrops, and their "parachute" move.
So, I think they're deserving of a push, since they're talented and entertaining, but they shouldn't be in the position they've been in for the last month or so.

I never said they're not deserving of any push. Like I said, I could buy them as upper-midcard at best. It's the main eventing that's getting way out of control.
Now, if there were two or more other factions (DX doesn't count), then I could buy them main eventing, but only with the other factions, and even then not as much as now.

They were easy to make as vinces henchmen, but after vengence these 5 on 1/ 5 on 2 matches have to stop.
Arguing for the SS, looking at the Raw roster, are there any other heel wrestlers who are as over the SS are? Edge probably but he's in a feud with Cena right now. Orton but he just got moved to Raw so he wasn't an option. I find it refreshing that guys like them are getting the role of being Vince and Shane's lackeys as opposed to the usual suspects like Snitsky and Masters.
Do they deserve the push? Maybe not but I can't see anyone else on the brand who is more deserving.
What's your definition of "over"? Because every week they don't exactly get a strong reaction.
To me they seem to get a better heel reaction than any other guys besides Edge and the McMahons. That's just the way I'm seeing it.

I personally like the fact that Spirit Squad is main eventing. They're funny and their wrestling is good...they've probably produced better main events for me than WWE has done in a while...so I'm not complaining.

I like them in the main event, but only occasionally. They could be doing so much more. Why haven't we seen a member of The Spirit Squad take on Charlie Haas or Carlito? I salivate and become hard at the thought of a Spirit Squad vs. Paul London & Brian Kendrick Tag Team Championship Unification Match.

I failed to get nothing. You seem to fail to understand that hyperboles are by definition bull shit. Thus makes your statement irrelevant as well as meaningless; and this whole tiff pointless.
The Spirit Squad is a good thing because:
1) They're perfect henchmen. While they might play faggy cheerleaders, they're all incredibly athletically sound and when working as a team, they can come off as a threat to the main eventers like HHH, Michaels and Cena.
2) Ken Doane might be the future of the WWE, so this exposure is good for him.
3) It's giving these 5 young kids ring time with veterans like Michaels and Hunter, as well as good air-time to make themselves into future stars. And honestly, as far as the RAW roster goes, these kids look like the future of the WWE. Definitely more so than guys like Chris Masters, Carlito, Eugene, Snitsky and fucking Umaga.
4) Their trampolines spots = sick.

I'd buy that, except it's coming from a TNA fan.
Well, that and how painful it is to listen to one of them try and cut a promo. If Ken's the future of WWE, they're more fucked than I'd thought.
