But they still play the same bubblegum rap bullshit.. Sure they bust out some aiight stuff occationally but it is shit for the most part.. F'n G-Unit saturdays on Shade 45?? If I wanted to listen to nothing but G-Unit, I'd buy their f'n cd's, no?? Also, that raspy voiced faggot DJ in the after is shit.. He has great ideas for shows, like playing nothing but songs with Bill Withers samples and discussing Bill Withers influence but he is also shit for the most part.. The other day, they were discussing Wu Tang and he had some record PR who had been around Hip Hop for over 20 years and was supposedly an expert.. The DJ ask him how many MC's were in Wu Tang and without hesitation the dude said "SIX".. WTF?!? Listen to "M.E.T.H.O.D. MAN" off of 36 Chambers and they name NINE members.. Really ten is you count Cappadonna.. What irkes me is, these guys are paid to know Hip Hop yet don't even know the simplist trivia about the subject of the discussion they are being paid to discuss.. Ridiculous.. The one saving grace is BackSpin, the oldskool channel.. The problem there is, they have the same DJ's every day who play what they like, which is the same shit, everyday.. I know that if Lady B is on I'm going to hear RUN DMC, Heavy D, Dana Dane, BDP, and Biz Markie.. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's 2006.. They could be playing old Wu Tang, Onxy, Tupac, Biggie, Pharcyde, Nas, etc etc etc all from the early 90's which now is oldskool..

The one other thing that gets me is, as a huge fan of turntablism there is no channel that plays it anymore.. I'm not talking about spinning "Lean Back" and "Grills" either.. I'm talking about juggling breaks and making new songs out of 2 bars of old songs.. There use to be WAX but that changed to 50 Cent's Asshole, I mean, Shade 45.. There is no place to hear DJ's like Shadow, Cut Chemist, Mr. Dibbs, Q Bert, D Styles, etc.. WAX use to even have DJ's come in a spin live sets from the studio..

Satellite is worth it, but is only one step above "free" radio..

I just wish I could be a programmer..

Discuss..

p.s. it seems the best Hip Hop (well the shit I like which is grimey NYC shit) is played on Faction, but they also play alot of punk which I am not a huge fan of..

It's nice to see that without even saying it's sirius radio everyone knows it. My buddy has an XM in his car and it's ugly.

And yea, I bought my sirius because I hate the radio out here. One mix station, one pop, two country, one oldies. Gotta love Octane and Revolution! Maybe there should be a thread that just talks about how awesome satelite radio is.

I'm not saying I hate it by any means just saying it could be much better..

Why not just state how awesome you think it is in this thread??

I've got a tuner that will receive XM or Sirius. It's part of the MP3 CD player in my car. I don't really see the point, as I'd rather just listen to CDs in the car, and I don't really listen to radio except going to bed.

I'm sure there's some great stuff on there, but Kris' statement that it's just a step above free radio is really the sort of thought that's deterred me from subscribing.

I bought it post Katrina because of all the driving I was having to do.. Talk radio makes long drives better.. I got so tired of scanning AM stations every 30 minutes to find sports talk.. With Howard Stern, ESPN, Raw Dog, NFL, etc I'm set.. The talk is excellent..

I think my disapointment lies more in the state of Hip Hop.. I just can't seem to get away from Mtv rap..

It could be so much better..

We have the best radio station in The World - Triple J. It's free and you can get it anywhere in the country (anywhere in The Wrold if you listen over the net)
