Yeah Stevie Y, or "The Captain" as we Detroit fans know him by, opted to retire today after 22 seasons. This thread is dedicated to his career highlights so get to posting them.

When he first came up he was a huge scoring threat. I mean huge. He had early knee problems and that stunted his offensive abilities early on. Saying that, he was still a big time scoring threat. Too bad for the injuries, he could have broken records. On top of all that, this guy was a classy individual. The game may have now passed him by, but it's the game's loss.

Even though he and the Wings kicked our asses in the finals of '97 (Flyers fan), i still give the guy HUGE props. He was that guy on the ice that coaches had to plan for. :y:

Yeah not even a huge Wings fan, but Yzerman's always been one of my favourite players. So many injuries though, but he still had an awesome career
