WWE makes comparisons to the MMA? Besides Angle's character (arguably) I haven't noticed any.

Then again, I haven't really been paying attention lately, so I could have missed something.

UFC doesn't consider WWE competition. WWE considers UFC direct competition.

In short, WWE fears UFC.

Challenges to anyone in 4, 6, or 8 sided rings? JR's references to UFC rules? Hell, TPWW's news section has an article on UFC planning to no longer ignore WWE's challenges.

There were 3-4 this week on Raw, and I missed them until I played a couple of segments for my ex. There could have even been more, because I skipped most of the show (From your mention of attention, I doubt you'll blame me there. ;) )

And they have every reason to. People who want to see actual combat instead of campy wrestlers who have moves like the "Five Knuckle Shuffle" have a viable alternative. Granted, people who want to see pro wrestling still have no real choice, but Vince doesn't care about them. He wants the pop culture crowd, and right now UFC/MMA is quickly becoming exactly what Vince covets.

Yup. Chokeslams, Tombstone Piledrivers, Flying Clotheslines, and walking the top rope are all very commonplace in the UFC, and I'm sure they were telling their opponents that they'd rest in peace YEARS before Undertaker debuted in the WWF.

lol ahahaha, fuckin wrestling fans.

Seriously there are so many parallels between the 2, it's just that right now, the UFC knows how to market their shit, and men 18-35 wanna see some real fuckin fighting, and as KK said, not the five knuckle shuffle. Hell I'll take the Randleplex Kev Randleman did to Emelianenko over a Benoit German any day of the week.

I mean look at how the ufc promotes fights, I mean we have Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock fighting again, after Ortiz fuckin destroyed the old piece of shit, and by all means they shouldn't be in the same ring together. But they used the reality show to really get people to want to see them go at it again. They used promos, as well as well timed and well edited confrontations between the 2, and enough people really want to see Tito Ortiz womp Ken Shamrock, or they wanna see Shamrock score the surprise upset just to shake things up.

That's good marketing, that's what the wwe is missing. UFC doesn't have people pissing on other people, or necrophillia.

Hell you can go as far as to say they even have "stables" cuz there are tons of fighting teams, and they all have each other's backs.

So UFC is extremely similar to pro wrestling, quit fuckin whining, and don't read it if you don't want to.

You wanna know what a mark really is, look in this thread. Ton of people conned by the wrestling world.

You know what the funniest thing is? UFC books basic wrestling feuds (good guy vs. bad guy and #1 ranked fighter vs. #2 ranked fighter) better than WWE does right now. And they do it in a shoot.

WWE fixes it own shit. They should fucking rule right now.

Oh and for all you fuckers moaning about "wrestling". That word isn't even allowed on the biggest "sports entertainment" TV shows in the world. Argue that!

Howabout his basic "Deadman" stance, which looks like an MMA/Shot fighter? Or many of the submission moves he's adopted? His entire brawling shtick looks a lot like an MMA fighter, too.

Really, is you glossing over the blatant elements just the inconvenience to your stance, or what?

Taker's in-ring work IS basically an MMA style with a few Sports Entertainment spots thrown in. He really didn't adapt to this style until about half way through his Biker Taker run.

Take away the MMA brawling, and all you have are his five moves.

WWE's seen fit to compare the two, it's natural the fans will. It's too bad them that it didn't work out, but seriously, they've adopted the style, they've referenced it, and dumb fucks keep whining about how bad the programming is. You expect a viable alternative not to spring up in these numerous conversations?

This forum doesn't follow as strict a set of lines as you seem to believe. TPWW's headlines, though it's theoretically a WRESTLING news site, has multiple MMA headlines. Punk still needs to play a deaf character. That = Ratings. UFC is pretty meh, I mean there's real contact... just not enough of it. It's not constant. For ever 3:00 of action, there's 10 of side-stepping. I've seen more contact in boxing. I would love to see two people just go balls to the wall and explode on each otehr for 15 mins straight. No sitting, no waiting, no prancing. Fist-To-Face assbeatings. Until I see that, I'd much rather watch scripted television.

As a guy who's been a MMA fan since before UFC I, as someone who competes MMA, I can safely say, as KK has, that UFC belongs more in this forum than the random bullshit sport scores in Raw threads. They are comparable, yet WWE fails in comparrison. WWE mentions MMA regularly on it's program, you know why? Because if it points out what they have in common, WWE feels it will become more credible.

For people who consistantly bash the product of WWE, and TNA for that matter, you all sure are bias towards the programs.

Rob knows, MMA is more entertaining because it's real. WWE was so close to getting that big fight atmosphere back with guys like Benoit, Angle, and Brock and they dropped the ball. They stopped being a wrestling company, and started being sports entertainment. Vince never wanted a wrestling company, the sooner you guys see that the better off you'll be. UFC has every right to be in this forum, even more so than the WWE conversations do, at least until the "wrestling" comes back and is no longer a dirty word on TV .

Discuss news, storylines, or any other wrestling related topic.

UFC IS NOT WRESTLING. I'm not going to sit here and debate about similarities between the two, how much WWE fears UFC, etc. What it comes down to is this is a pro-wrestling forum (which includes sports entertainment, because that's mainly what American pro-wrestling is.) People don't talk about amateur wrestling in here, nor do they talk about boxing, so why should UFC be any different? It is a sport. It is a mixed martial arts competition. It is not pro-wrestling. How hard is this to comprehend? I don't give two shits about the topics in the forum. For the most part, I don't read them. However, saying they "belong" in the wrestling forum makes no sense.

I wouldn't agree with that first sentence at all. MMA is entertaining because the guys bust their arses to entertain the fans and don't have the restrictions that is ultra frustrating in pro wrestling. WWE could be just as exciting without real fights, infact they should be better really since everything they do is a work. They can book perfect scenarios which UFC can't but UFC knows how to build basic feuds far better than they do.

Fuck if I know. I usually just ignore most of the topics anyway. I ended up reading this one out of boredom. Like I said, I personally don't give 2 fucks, but to claim UFC topics BELONG in the wrestling forum just makes no sense.

There are more real wrestlers in UFC than there is in WWE. What doesn't belong now?

O_o

Rob, you are prolly the best MMA poster here, which I respect, but this is retarded.. I watch MMA as much as possible but never watch wrestling any more.. Fuck sake, I didn't even know MMA was discussed in depth in here until today.. It should go in the sports forum due to it being a sport..

Rob

I'd rather it be in the sports forum but people are saying that it absolutely has no place here. I disagree.

I see both sides.. Truthfully, I wish that mods would make a decision so it'll be in one forum.. As of right now, it's in sports, wrestling, tv, and casual..

One place would be nice, regaurdless of where it is..

That doesn't matter. This forum is about PRO-wrestling. You don't see people starting topics about National High School wrestling championships, do you? While MMA guys may have a wrestling backround, that does not mean MMA belongs in a forum about pro-wrestling. Likewise, Brock tried out for the NFL, and he was a former amateur and pro wrestler. If he would have made it onto the team, it wouldnt' be justified to post about every game that team played.

If anything, I'd agree that an MMA forum could be a sub forum of a wrestling forum, but since AAA isn't doing that, it fits better in the sports forum. MMA is competitive, wrestling is not.

MMA is also filling the wrestling fan niche by providing contemporary action that appeals to wrestling fans. I mean, Jesus, this is unscripted, but it's got the drama, the promotion, and the intensity wrestling used to have.

Sure, it doesn't have the benefit of being scripted, but to say it's not relevant is to ignore that there are suitable comparisons between the two that will come up in the course of a wrestling forum, and more specifically that will interest and even blow away wrestling fans.

The Wrestling Forum is meant to "Discuss news, storylines, or any other wrestling related topic", as stated on the main page. You want to talk about UFC here, ask Triple A to change the name and subtitle. Otherwise, until then, STFU and go to the Sports forum, where it belongs.

If someone made a thread about a sports team after it was mentioned on RAW, I'd say the same damn thing. This isn't about bitching about wrestling "marks" versus whatever.

Where in the forum desctipion - "Discuss news, storylines, or any other wrestling related topic" - does it limit discussion to pro wrestling?

Since we brought up his name - Triple A's "Wrestling" website had major XFL features and it's head to toe in MMA news right now.

We can discuss something hot like MMA and a proper invasion that Vince McMahon can't fuck up. Or we can discuss The Miz or DX's fireworks.

When football players start getting called out or they adopt a football style in WWE, we'll talk about that comparison.

That British guy they spoke of only based his record of MMA concussions on what he saw during fights on TV. So if say he watched the show the other night and thought Shamrock got a concussion, it counted.

It came off like O'Reilly knew nothing about the sport, and just lumped it in with boxing.

In boxing you can take upwards of 100-150 good punches in the head per 12 rounds, in MMA all it takes is a good combination and it's lights out

Bill O'Reilley host the O'Reilley factor on Fox, is known for several books, claims of being a self made man, etc. He's a huge liar. I this video, for example, he has probably intentionally twisted the "knockout" story. When the guy corrects him, however, he brushes him off and moves on to another point along the same lines, as though that original comment was inconsequential.

Now, it could have been an honest mistake, but he brings it up, and when it's no longer convenient to him and his attempts to call UFC brutal, he cuts the guy off...

O'Reilley's kind of famous for doing this exact same sort of thing, often parodied by Stephen Colbert. He also tells a lot of people to shut up. I can't remember who did it, but there was a video package which starts with O'Reilley claiming he's never told a guest to shut up, and then just packaged him in various instances doing just that.

Another rich asshole. Republican I can safely guess. Republicans like to use the 'bigger voice' style of debate, while Democrats think whining works.
