Here's a little diddy I found on ECW.com

-Justin Credible defeated Sabu by disqualification after being put through a table

Now I don't watch ECW (albeit I might start because of CM Punk), but I thought you couldn't get DQed in ECW... Now I'm not going to ask "Gee, how did he get DQed?" I'm asking "Why the hell did he get DQed if ECW is this extreme wrestling group?"
If the WWE is going to use the name ECW at least try to make it how ECW was, not this more watered down that the WWE Heavyweight Title bull crap.

Now there are no DQs if it's an "Extreme Rules" or "ECW Rules" match. Any match that's not billed as such will be WWE rules. Count outs, DQs, etc.

...that has to be the gayest thing in wrestling since the Chuck and Billy storyline... or Kanyon... or OJ.... or Rico.... or X-Pac... That is gay....

The best part is the way they were shoving the "This is not ECW rules!" Down our throats. You knew it was gonna end with a DQ.

Again, the big question bouncing around my cranium is this: If Vince was under the impression that the ECW fanbase was 'dead', then why bring back ECW? If he just wanted a third show, why not call it "Tuesday Night Thunder", or some other recylced name? Or, better yet, come up with something original. I mean, calling the show "ECW" and then referring to 'extreme rules' as a damn specialty match is basically false advertizing.

Then again, perhaps it's on SFC b/c the idea of an actual return wasn't grounded in reality.

While you're more than likely right, it could be easily argued that he believed there was a fanbase due to prior success, saw the ratings dropped, and assumed it had nothing to do with WWE influence.

He had to know. ONS 1 was fecking huge! But ONS 2 was down. What was the change? Storylines and WWE influx. It just didn't have the same feel. And I understand the theory that the cross-effect of ECW and RAW stars flipping back and forth is going to pump attention and therefor ratings toward ECW. But Again, this is not just Big Name 3. This is called ECW and should either be treated as such or renamed.

It should be, but when has WWE used logic?

When they had Spike Dudley "fall in love" with Molly Holly. Yeah, that's about it.

That is such a cop out. But I'd actually 'mark out' to find that it's an actual argument in the office.

:Vince is stopped in the hall by some guy.:

NOT VINCE: Mr. MacMahon, I found an inconsistency in our thinking.

VINCE: Ignore it. Everything we do is fine.

NOT VINCE: But sir, this is something the fans will notice.

VINCE: Trust me, there's no problem. Quite frankly, if there was, I'd have caught it.

NotT VINCE: But Sir--

:Vince sees the name on his office door.:

VINCE: Holy crap. Did you know there was an "H" in my name?? "Mac-MA-hon". Huh. All these years, and it's apparently three syllables. ...."Mac-MA-hon"...

NOT VINCE: :|

NOT VINCE: Mr. McMahon, about that pyro...
VINCE: PYRO PYRO PYRO!!! WE NEED PYRO!!!

That is such a cop out.

Unfortunately, it's the way they work within WWE. Ratings are down. Do you thin kthey will blame DX, or the Spirit Squad, or Vince McMahon and son? Of course not. Someone else will take the blame. ECW is unsuccessful. Now is it the WWE writing that's at fault? Of course not! WWE writing is better than that...Extremely Crappy Wrestling....So it must be that Heyman still has some say in the show, and they're appealing to a dead fanbase.

Edge is getting "boring chants," that proves he's a good heel. Masters gets no reaction, that proves he's a good heel. Cena's getting booed, it's just the bad apples and internet fans. Push him for another year to stick it to them. Christian's getting better pops than most of the faces. Bury him on Smackdown because he's "just a midcarder." Buying Marijuana grown in Vermont supports terrorism, even though the terrorists are being funded by oil dealers. Bill Gates is a great man for his humanitarian work, even though he's the one who manned Microsoft through all those years where they moved jobs overseas so they could pay their workers ridiculously low salaries in the countries he's trying to "help."

Sorry, those last two were more pointing out how Vince isn't even alone in this logic.

I don't condone it, and in fact, I'm done with the new ECW in all liklihood. It is their logic, though, for better or worse.

I will still keep on watching "WWECW" until I am no longer entertained by it. I haven't watched SmackDown! in 6 months because it didn't entertain me. I still watch RAW because it entertains me, but with Booker T. possibly getting a title run (40 months too late) might make me tune in to see if it picks up any.

Vince decided to pull the plug on ECW because fans weren't respectful of Mr. McMahon at the first ECW house show. They chanted "Vince sucks dick" and "Fuck you Vince" all night long, mostly because they were pissed at the lack luster card and piss poor booking, not to mention the use of the "extreme rules" gimmick, where in the old ECW, every match was "extreme rules."

McMahon didn't like the fans chanting against his product, his WWECW, and decided that the fan base (for a company that never actually existed) was dead and that they should go an entirely new direction.

Fucking idiot. ECW will be dead soon and TNA will rise again.

Don't you have to rise a first time?

TNA has risen to televised shows. When WWE shows an example of failure, as it very well may with ECW, faith in the company will rise and TNA will likely get quite a boost from it.

Hence my understanding of the phrase, "Rise again".

Or maybe Fox is dumb.;)

And technically, sicne it lost a TV show too, they have risen again.

So they will fail, lose Impact on Spike, and then rise again. And again. And again. Until JArrett can't get backers.

If you're talking about FSN, I wouldn't call that a loss exactly. They knew they were on a bad station at a horrible time and needed to get onto a more widely distributed channel and better timeslot (and 11PM is a hell of a lot better than 3PM). So that was more of a boost.
