View Full Version : So i listened to metal for the first time in like 2 years...
Machine Head's first album, man i'd forgotten how fuckin good metal could be when done properly.
So yeah, favourite metal bands, songs, musicians, albums etc?
By the way that's '\m/ metal' not ':wavesad: metal'

Static-X, Opeth, Nile, Silent Civilian, In Flames, Slayer, Dark Tranquility, Lamp Of Gob, Shadows Fall.
These are the ones I put on C.Ds the most, as they all have a fair share of really good songs.

WTF Penner. Parkway Drive isn't metal. They are like straightforward Hardcore 101 everybody breakdown at the same time shit.

Whatever Mitch, iTunes said "unclassifiable" so I just went with it.
I guess Underminded isn't metal then, but I'm pretty sure the rest are.

Godsmack is more "Alternative" these days, they're certainly not Nu Metal (Though they are rather Generic).
Disturbed was one of the bands lumped into Nu Metal because it was a catch-all genre (Though it was really coined for rap-metal bands, and Disturbed doesn't count--No more than Melissa Ferrick and Inner Circle count as rappers just because they have some rhythmic speaking...). You could count them if you want, especially with their borderline emo themes, but you could probably argue it.
I'd also like to throw in WITCH, even though they're probably considered "Hard Rock" now. They're similar to oldschool Sabbath with some borderline grunge/alternative shit going on in there. Not surprising, as J. MAscis is involved.
