Yeah, okay, it's been clear for a long time that there's no chance Matt Hardy will ever go anywhere significant. So they put him up against Kennedy, I assume he's going down (I don't read the spoilers). Then Hardy gets the win. Which is great from the perspective that I like Matt, but why? What's the point? Why break one guy's winning streak with a guy who's gonna get shit on in 2 weeks?

It was his birthday maybe?
Future Possible Spoilers from the other thread:
On PWInsider's Elite section they said it's going to be a storyline for the two of them, I suppose to give them a bit more exposure.

SmackDown! is desperate for main eventers, and seeing as how Matt Hardy is talented and popular, they might try upping him a bit. I don't mind, I've always like Hardy. This is much better than Hardy feuding with Kennedy because he "stole Jeff's move". Kennedy is charismatic to get by without a winning streak, and they obviously want him to be a heel, so putting him against Hardy should accomplish that. I think they're also trying to make Kennedy humble, so he doesn't get a big head about being one of the only reasons to watch SmackDown!. I think they want him to be at around US Title level.
So yeah, I'm not sure if they're trying to keep Kennedy below main event level, or trying to raise Hardy up, either way is fine with me, as long as both guys are allowed to show off their skills, and aren't being damaged by management (see: Val Venis).
I guess we can add Matt Hardy vs. Ken Kennedy to The Great American Bash. I was pretty sure Kennedy was going to go over, but I can actually see Matt Hardy taking the win somehow.

They still made such a big deal about his winning streak, to blow it after...What? A couple weeks?

Yeah, I know what you mean. They should have at least posted his record somewhere, so fans can have more time to get used to his winning ways. I do think putting Hardy over was a good move, though. Kennedy vs. Hardy is one of those matches that doesn't sell the show, but it is a side attraction which can help persuade people. Ken Kennedy vs. Vito isn't exactly appealing to people at this stage, but Ken Kennedy vs. Matt Hardy is, if you catch my drift.
I miss the good old days when PPVs actually used to have meaningful mid-card matches.

If they wanted to make Matt Hardy into a HUGE star they missed it by about a year. Scratch that. Matt Hardy was a HUGE star, getting mad pops despite being a whiney immature bitch.
Ken Kennedy has potential, and jobbing him out to Matt Hardy is pointless and stupid.
POINTLESS. STUPID.
That sums up the WWE at the moment in many aspects.

That sums up the WWE pretty well.
