But doesn't the WWE Championship, ECW Championship, and NWA Championship all share common origins?

If I remeber right, the WWE Championship is the wCw and WWF title's Chris Jericho combined. Therefore it should have roots back to the old NWA belts. ECW's title should still have the same history going back to Shane Douglas recristening the NWA title the ECW title. And obiviously the NWA title is the NWA title.

Also, now think about this, if my logic is right, then Bigshow is not the first person to hold the WCW, WWE, and ECW title, Rob Van Dam was, and he did it all at once.

Now, here is the part that might have been cool but can now never happen; What if Rob Van Dam could have some how also beat up Jeff Jarret and won the NWA title, thus unifying 3 titles, and using my logic, held 4 world titles at once. Though techincally I think it would have been 5 titles, because if I remeber right, RVD already unified the IC and Hardcore titles, and then they were absorbed into the WWE title at one point. Then they brought back the IC title as a seprate title, so I'm not sure if the Hardcore title is still techically part of the IC or WWE title...or it could have been part of the World Heavywieght title that Rey Rey has. Anyhow...what was my point?

Wait, I just remembered that Edge and Mick Foley are the current co-holders of the Hardcore title, so that last little bit is a moot point.

I already came to that conclusion, and when I said it, it was ignored. :|

But what if the titles were only props on a wrestling program with no real significant value except for a dollar one? Would they really even exist then and if a title change happened in the woods and nobody saw it - would the title have actually changed?

The most interesting thing about your post is that you are supposing what is actually fact. And about the title change in the woods, It has been proven time and again that a title can change hands anywhere that the promoter wants. Look at the tag title changes that Vince has reversed and pretended that they never happened (rockers) and the Creation of the IC title and awarding it to someone that won a tourny that never happened
(patterson).

It'd be a real pain in the dick for wrestling historians if all title changes at house shows (aka "the woods" for all intents and purposes) were figured into the record books.

And about the title histories, while technically WCW, ECW and NWA they are the same titles, they are separated when the name changes happen. When WCW was created, the NWA lineage stopped, and same with ECW. I'm glad RVD didn't beat Jarrett, because then the NWA title would be bastardized like the ECW title, and due to RVD's drug habit, Big Show would now be the NWA and ECW champ. Shitty shitty booking WWE style.

Exactly, in 1905..the NWA was created....from that the WWWF, WCW, and others were created...and the NWA became essentially a defunct company except for the regional promotions.....

Living in Augusta, GA, I know quite a bit about Phantom Title Changes that go unmentioned (The 4 hot TV Title changes between Chris Benoit and Booker T, anyone?).
