I'm listening to WWE Anthology and god damn did Christian ever have an awesome theme. I'm probably enjoying listening to this way more than I should be.
I wish the WWE had kept with the "WWF the Music vol" (Only now it would be WWE the Music). I don't really care about the newer WWE music CDs. I'll admit that I liked Forceable Entry a lot. But that's because they got bands to cover the wrestlers' themes.
Anyone else disappointed with WWE's last few music CDs?
WWF the Music vol 3 and 4 are mad awesome. I still like Full Metal the Album.

Yeah, the music's gone downhill a bit. There are still some great themes (Edge's theme is amazing), but I think the WWE realized that they could sell more CDs with actual bands than with their instrumentals from Jim Johnston. Sucks too.
I miss the days when hardly any theme songs had lyrics. Sometimes, the lyrics ruin the theme for me. Kane, for example. His current theme is a decent song, but I think the character was better fit for the original lyric-free theme. Same thing with Chris Benoit. I enjoy the current theme, but I liked it better with no lyrics.
Take something like The Brood, for example. One of my favorite themes of all time. It fit the characters, and it was just awesome. Imagine if they had tried to put lyrics in it. I'm sure it would've sounded ridiculous.
I'm not saying ALL themes with lyrics are bad, though. Some themes, I couldn't imagine WITHOUT the lyrics....Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Rob Conway to a lesser extent...but the difference there is that those lyrics were WRITTEN for wrestlers, and not written just to make a hot song. Well, I'm not too sure why Rick Derringer wrote "Real American", but everybody recognizes it as the Hogan theme.
So was I the only one who thought the title implied that he was fired?

I loved Batista's original theme. It's still good with whatever bad covered it and the lyrics, but the original is one of my favorite themes ever.
Kane's theme by Finger Eleven is really awesome, but I wonder if it would sound even better with no lyrics. I like the music better in this theme than the other versions of his theme.

Yeah, if they just had the music for Kane's theme with no lyrics, it would fit the character AND sound better than the previous ones.
I almost forgot about Batista's, too. That song was tits sans lyrics.

True some themes have gone downhill a bit. Edge's "Never gonna stop" was really good. ICP came in and out with a theme for both WCW and WWE/F. The teary ones like Shawn Michaels' and Bret Hart's sorta got to me also.

On a side note, Forrest Griffin walked to the octagon for the Stefan Bonnar fight with ICP's WCW theme, "Take It".

I've always thought Rage Against the Machine's DX theme was a great theme overall. Builds up very well, and it's one of those themes that can get a pop with its long version or short version. Once the music hits, it's a cue for fans to go crazy.

I thought Rage only performed that song once.

Anyway, Christian's next theme (Just Close Your Eyes) fit him better, and his prior theme fit Tomko better. Some of the House bands are far better than the commecrially produced stuff, though. Batista's newer theme is horrible, though it gets him away from having a dangerously Kane-ish song, if I have to listen to Alterbridge much longer I may kill Edge just to save my poor eardrums, and if there's one more Motorhead theme, we're talking Genocide.
Furthermore, Musicians covering an established theme, for the most part, is bad.
They shouldn't be touching most of these themes or come up with some better ideas (WWF Agression, they should have thought of some songs that were more conducive to Rap) and better artists.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE NEVER PERFORMED DX'S THEME. NOT ONCE, NOT EVER. It was the Chris Warren band that did it live, as well as the arena theme.
Whoever started the rumor that RATM did the DX theme at one point is an idiot and needs to be shot.

I heard it from the second Ultimate Warrior.

Doesn't hurt that the video shows some clips of a guy who looks like Zack De La Rocha, or they were deliberately imitating them...But yeah, that's about the way I'd put it.

I actually debated seeing Waterproof Blonde in concert just because of that song. I decided against it. Probably for the better.

CHristian always had great themes. The CHRISTIAN, CHRISTIAN!!! theme was awesome, but it needed to be changed, and the waterproof blonde song worked perfectly!
I'm not a huge of Hogan at all, but his theme was awesome too. Even to I've never really liked Hogan, I did always like his entrance and entrance music.
I think another awesome theme was John Heidenreich's too

He may be referring to the RUN DMC version of DX's music that was released on an album a few years ago. But seriously, who could get Rage AGainst the Machine confused with Run DMC? :nono:

Christian may have some great themes, but even I say that his current theme just blows.
Taking the intro of an Evanescence song and looping it over and over is not the best song for a former NWA champion.

How can you talk about great wrestling themes without bringing up 3MW's theme? Yea, it was a little heavy on the gimmick, but it worked. It's a damn shame 2 Skinnie J's no longer make music.

Sean O'Haire's Waterproof Blonde theme may very well be one of the worst entrance themes everm right up there with Big Show and "I'm an Ass Man".

I hated the waterproof blonde song at first but it grew on me and I play it in my car on a regular basis. Christian and Edge's last two entrances have been the only high points in terms of wwe thememusic over the last few years.

No, actually, he is referring to the original Chris Warren Version, which was rumoured to be performed by RATM, and then later rumoured to have been performed live by DX instead. And a RATM version of the theme was also rumoured to exist.
Hope that helps.

No, that's not it. Go on LimeWire or some other P2P program and try to search for the DX theme. I guarantee you about half of them will credit Rage Against the Machine as the artist.
