What exactly is the WWE's video library comprised of? Obviously they own the rights to WCW and ECW footage, but what else do they have the rights to?

From memory:

WCW footage
ECW footage
NWA footage (all, or certain promotions)
USWA I believe
Some Japan footage, not sure which promotion(s)

Doubt that helps

They own the AWA footage as well.

They recently got the OVW library and one that Jerry Lawler once owned.

Just curious - do they have like a giant room with stacks upon stacks of video tapes - thus "video library"?

TerranRich

I think it's all digital now. Around 01/02 they converted it all to digital format. So they must have like a 100 TB hard drive (or that much in combined space) somewhere.

I'd like to steal it though... That'd be fuckin awesome to have.

I would imagine that while it's all digital they still have all the master tapes.

I would imagine that while it's all digital they still have all the master tapes.

And then a pipe in the ceiling bursts and ruins millions of dollars in footage...

Volchok

They prolly have all the master tapes in a vault in Titan Towers, along with the million $$ belt.

Ben Rodrigues

Shit, you know how big vaults can get? I'm sure Vince has the money to get a vault to put every last piece of video in that bitch.

My plan was to become the Incredible Hulk break into Titan Towers and run through all of their guards go through the vault and grab it,but yours sounds easier.

Not counting the OVW, Stampede and WCCW footage. If you watched the rest of the entire footage in real time, it would take over 8 and a half years to do so.

Well I'm not doing anything I'm about 33, so let's do it!!

Volchok

Shit, I have time to kill. I'll watch WWF from 96' till about 2000 and then watch all of ECW. Then maybe some WCW here and there.

TerranRich

I want all of WCW from 1996 to 1998. Right now.

Hogan mentioned in his book that he would have bought WCW if he knew the video library came with it. He said he would have put on a WCW channel and made money on it plus he would sit at home and watch the entire collection.

Just as Vince does now. Except he hasn't watched a minute of his own product in his life.

It would be great if WWE released WCW DVD's like the best of Nitro or Thunder.

Isn't that footage illegal in North America?
