In an update to the story we reported Sunday, WWE Smackdown star Mark Henry had surgery Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama by Dr. James Andrews.

WWE.com is reporting that the surgery was to repair his torn patella tendon (which he tore off the bone) and his patella kneecap that he broke in two.

The surgery is said to have been successful but that his full recovery timetable is not known. However, the "optimistic prognosis" is that Henry will miss about 8 months of action which would put his return sometime around Wrestlemania 23.

In any event Mark Henry is done for at least the rest of the year as he rehabs from his injuries.

Well... ain't karma a bitch.

I thought he would injure Batista again at the GAB anyway.

How exactly did he injure himself? Like what move, and on who?

Y'know in a years time he'll get that "returing from an injury face push" and win the title, as a face champion more unpopular than Mr. Cena.

Yay! 8 months of less injuries to other wrestlers.

The problem with that is this: Mark Henry takes longer to heal than the average joe. I think his last injury (Shoulder surgery) was supposed to keep him out like three or four months. He didn't come back for like a year and a half.

Hahahahaha I was just waiting for this moment to happen, as others have said karma is a bitch!

But what does this mean for the Batista/Mark Henry match? I wonder if they will move Batista to the World title match with Rey and Booker straight away and make it a triple threat? That would be good I think.

They address the issue on Smackdown.

Hell, they've addressed it anyway. Without giving away who takes it up, Bats has already issued an open challenge.

Now Smackdown can get some of it's stature back. Hopefully this is a good sign.

Although they WERE hyping up the Henry/Bats match alot. Now it'll seem like just another match, in which Bats will probably win.
