Anybody here a fan of the Lightning Seeds and frontman Ian Broudie?

I'm no fan of the manufactured pop music you get in the charts, but Broudie has a talent for creating heartfelt, "perfect pop" which makes for some great, memorable music. In recent years, Broudie has toned down the synth/effects on his rare new material and concentrated more on "real" instruments and more subtle music, maybe a bit more acceptable to fans of "credible" music. Anybody who dismissed the Seeds on the basis of their questionable affection for whoring their tunes out for TV ads should check out 'Tilt', and Broudie's solo album 'Tales Told'. Two opinion changing albums right there.

Thought they disappeared years ago.

They went on hiatus in 1999, and then nothing was heard from them again until earlier this week, bar a short solo album from lead singer Broudie. They have a new album due later this year, and have just released "The Very Best Of..."

By the way, "Three Lions" is the best ever football anthem, but they need to stop re-releasing it for EVERY damn tourney that comes along. They've milked it dry. The song's a decade old now, for fuck's sake, and it must have been released at least four times.

Only twice, 96 and 98.

Only twice, 96 and 98.

The '98 version was the same song with new lyrics. But they also re-released the original '96 version for the Euro 2000 and World Cup 2006 tournaments, at least!
