So you have Ken Kennedy, who not only had never been pinned in the WWE, but was heavily touted as never having been pinned in the WWE before.

Then he faces Matt Hardy last, last week. Matt Hardy, a man who has been reduced to glorified jobber. A man who hasn't had a push since he lost to Edge. A man whose credibility is about as low as Simon Dean's.

Hardy pins Kennedy clean, giving him his first pinfall loss.

O...kay... so maybe they're setting up a feud between the two? Nope. Hardy faces Gregory Helms as the surprise opponent and promptly loses to him at the GAB via a dirty pinfall, but a pinfall nonetheless. Gregory Helms, the man who is the longest CW champ in history... only because he hasn't defended his belt much aside from the first month after he won it. Helms, the man who jobbed cleanly to Rey Mysterio several weeks ago.

Rey Mysterio, the man who jobbed to Finlay, Great Khali, and Kane.

Back to Kennedy: he gets to face Batista. His streak is over, so time to give the returning main eventer a win to quickly rebuild his credibility, right? Nope. Lets give Batista a loss via DQ for going crazy.

Erm... okay... why couldn't he have gone crazy after the win? Why give Kennedy a win (yes by DQ, but a win nonetheless) when a loss won't really affect him anymore, now that he's jobbed to Matt Hardy?

To set up a number one's contender match on SD? You mean you couldn't have just made that match the #1 contender's match and then devoted more time to build up Batista vs (now) Booker?

In effect, what they've sort of done is put the pecking order at Khali/Finlay/(Kane) > Rey Mysterio > Greg Helms > Matt Hardy > Ken Kennedy > Batista.

Obviously, not literally, but any experienced wrestling booker knows that this is the line that is drawn in kayfabe. Obviously, Batista isn't a jobber or even shown as one, but having him lose by the DQ is sort of stupid. It breaks the "comeback rule," and just because the show was reshuffled at the last moment doesn't mean they should just throw things like that.

It may have made sense for Dave to go crazy on Henry like that, but not on Kennedy. I have a sneaking suspicion that they just used the finish they had for Batista/Henry and put it on Batista/Kennedy. Which shows an extraordinary amount of laziness IMO.

What's the point of this? Nothing, really. Just felt like ranting. Or maybe just subconsciously releasing my frustration over a terrible Tipsters round.

TERRAN REST IN PIECES/PEACE/PISCES/PEZ DISPENSERS!!!!! X(

We seriously need to draw WWE writers here. Maybe that would wake them up

Here was my feeling in that: Batista's storyline was "I have the pent up anger from not being able to compete, and since Henry is injured, I have to take it out on someone, and since you, Kennedy...KENNEDY, are enough of a dumbass to want to challenge me, I'll take you up on you giving your ass on a silver platter to me." So that kind of makes sense when you look at it that way.

As for the Hardy thing, hopefully they will spring the program for them going into Summerslam. Hardy NEEDS something to do now, and SmackDown could really use a program between two of their best mid-card compeditors. I'd make Hardy beat Finlay during that trek to the 'Slam so Kennedy can challenge for it there.

I think the match with Henry would have been a clean win for Batty, after all that WAS confirmed as being the #1 contender spot, unlike the match vs Kennedy, but you never do know nowadays...

Internet Fans: Wait a second, if Mark Henry vs Batista was for a title shot at Summer Slam, and Mr. Kennedy took Mark Henry's spot, and Batista lost, does this mean that Batista lost a number one contender's match to Mr. Kennedy.

WWE: What we really meant was.... Purple monkey dishwasher!

Internet Fans: :wtf:

WWE: Exactly.

While I hope you're right, I have to agree with the original sentiment. Like I said in a thread on the subject, Matt's been busted down the food chain, to the point where he's all but guaranteed to lose, and he's totally useless. I love the guy to pieces, but he's pretty much wheat on the food chain...The only things he's allowed to eat are shit and decomposed biowaste.

Ken Kennedy is doing pretty well for himself, and while beating Hardy is about the same as having no opponent and calling yourself a winner (pointless), losing to Hardy slows his momentum like fuck. Then, instad of a program there, we get what? An inexcplicable win (albeit via DQ)? Sure, the animal is loose, but it still seemed rather pointless and anticlimactic.

Oh shit, I kinda forgot to say that I'd make Hardy beat Finlay FOR THE US TITLE!!

Replied at 4 AM, which is a hopefully logical excuse for my omission of that.

Low-Gee-Ick? Come on now guys, this is SmackDown we're talking about. We have come to expect this, whatever injuries don't fuck up, the writers are sure to do it instead. It's the natural balance to the world.

In all fairness, give the writing team a break this time around, since they pretty much had to throw this together at the last second.

Kane Knight

So Matt Hardy's victory was thrown together at the last minute because a guy who wasn't out yet would be out?

Fox

Well, when Matt Hardy won his match, it's possible that there was a program in the works for Hardy and Kennedy after that. Because the injury took place several days later at SNME, plans were shifted around, the feud was scrapped, and Kennedy was programmed to be used as Batista-fodder.
