You see, I am trying to play Baldur's Gate 1. Yeah, I know, its an old game, but I wanna play it because I never have.

Anyway, so when I go to install it, I have like 11gbs left on my hard drive and the goddamn game is telling me I have less than 2 gbs left and I can't do a full install.

So I try the minimal install, and that goes just fine, until I attempt to play the game, and it tells me to insert disc 1, which I did while installing the game.

My buddy said its because its an old game and I'm using xp, but there has to be someway to make it work.

Any suggestions?

I'm just gonna give up in that case.

I have the same problem with the original Black and White and with Starcraft. I believe there are patches for some games, but I haven't actually seen them.

Many games do this, because they were old enough that they weren't made for the format system modern computers use, and thus, will read your drive wrong. Least, I'm pretty sure that's the issue.

yeah, you need to downgrade.

First time I've ever heard that.

To play the game and without some kind of patch, you're going to need an older version of Windows. Microsoft isn't exactly 100% up on keeping legacy software compatible.
