View Full Version : Most Shocking Moment when you were Little

What was everyone's most shocking moment in wrestling when you were Little. And I'm talking about a time when you still thought wrestling was real.
For me it was when Michaels threw Jannety through the barber shop window. I was about 8 yrs old and I remember just standing still for like 6 minutes with  look on my face, which was followed by a :( look. I just couldn't believe what I witnessed as the Rockers were my favorite team at the time. I would of never guessed that Shawn Michaels could of done something like that to his long time friend Jannetty. I thought Jannetty was seriously hurt and his career was finished. But that one segment got me hooked on wrestling forever.

For me it was the Hogan/Andre match from that one SNME where Ted hired Earl Hebner to screw Hogan (How Ironic, no?). Then Dave comes out and the Hebners have a shoving match.

Well, I wasn't little. But I just started watching wrestling in early 99, so I was about 15. I knew it was all staged and whatnot, but for some reason, a part of me made me think it was real. When Undertaker tried to "take over" the WWF, and he had the flaming bear and gave it to Vince, I was like "holy crap, what is going on?" Then when Shane became leader of the Corporation, I thought he was actually running the entire company. Hahaha.
I do not why I thought this. But that is why the Greater Power angle is one of my favorites. And I just thought it was really cool. After that angle though, I didn't really feel that way again. I wish I did.
Also, when HHH pedigreed X-Pac at WM15, I was  So yeah.

Mine would have to be when Ultimate Warrior was on The Funeral Parlor and he was about to assault Paul Bearer until The Undertaker came from behind and beat the Hell out of the Warrior, stuffed him into a casket with Ultimate Warrior logos all over it, then locked it shut. Man that traumatized me. I remember all these officials trying to get the casket open and when they finally did, The Ultimate Warrior was unconscious and the liner inside of the casket was all torn up where he was trying to get out. After that I started having nightmares about The Undertaker stalking me.

I think you might be refering to when Beefcake was attacked by Outlaw Ron Bass and Bass used his spurs to slice open Beefcake's forehead.
I don't ever remember thinking wrestling was real. The Roberts/Savage snake deal shocked me as being real and it actually was so I dunno.

Another good Ultimate Warrior moment was when Papa Shango put a curse on the warrior. The warrior was doing an interview and this black ooze came from the his forehead. When I watch it know it is very cheesy, but back then it freaked me out.

Back then, I loved Goldberg, but STILL was NEEDING Nash to beat him. Still am a Nash mark. Hate Goldberg.
My most shocking moment was after a big hiatus from wrestling, seeing the nWo and Hogan bashing the fans and all that (not knowing he turned heel), and I just hated him. I ripped up my Hogan books I had had since I was little.

Oh my god! Randy Savage being tied up in the ropes, as Jake Roberts let his cobra bite Randy! I mean, I remember seeing that on Superstars, and I was AHHHHHHHHH!!!! They put a flashing red X on the screen, which made a great censor .
Anywho, a few nights ago I was going through some old wrestling tapes, and I found a clip of that, without the censor! Many little kids crying, people screaming, watching Roddy Piper come to Randy's aid, and seeing Randy stumble around like a washed up pro wrestler who thinks he could rap (wait a second...), and my little sister saw that for the first time. She's 14, and was shocked to see it! It was just... AHHHHHHHH!!!
I wasn't sad when The Rockers broke up. Frankly, Shawn was the first heel I liked. My twin bro on the other hand will still tell me to fu</>ck off to this very day when I bring that up.
The first ever ladder match... That was "brutal" and "hardcore." For its time it was awesome, and it's the foundation for the modern day TLC and ladder matches.
Let's fast forward to the lovely work of The Road Dogg Jesse James and Baddass Billy Gunn... When the New Age Outlaws pushed Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie off the stage, when they were in the dumpster... Yeah, I knew it was fixed, but that was just WOOOOOOOOOAH! Took up a lot of air time, and it was the biggest mark out I had in a while.
Ah, and then there was the screwjob in Montreal.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Shawn collapsing in the ring after Owen kicked him in the head. Man they pulled that off perfectly as Vince had a worried look on his face.
And Yes, the Oulaws pushing the dumpster was a shocker too. That looked very real because the entire WWF lockeroom came out with worried looks on thier faces. I rememer Sunny crying.

AhhhhHHHHH! Holy Lost Vintage Wrestling tapes, Batman! Before WMVIII, the match was set for Hulk Hogan and Sid Justice VS some people, I forgot who. Anywho, Hogan was reaching out for a tag. He needed to tag, and Sid just stood there, then walked off leaving Hogan in the ring VS two guys!
Yeah, when the headbangers won the WWF tag team titles, major underdogs, ranks right up there with Sparky and The 1-2-3 Kid's tag team title reign.
Hulk Hogan VS The Undertaker for the first time, when the real world's champion, Ric Flair, slid a chair under the bottom rope, TOMBSTONE!

Always, the team that Justice and Hogan were facing happened to be Ric Flair and the Undertaker. I remember seeing a fan rip up his Sid Justice sign as he walked out on Hogan, sold the heel turn PERFECTLY. Of course, later that night, Taker kept Jake from introducing Elizabeth to a Chair Shot, which led to his face turn:
Jake Roberts: Who's Side are you on?
Undertaker: Not Yours! (Insane Crowd pop)
Jake then grabbed the Urn from Bearer, threw it in a coffin, slammed Taker's hand in it, DDT'd the Fat Man who always talked like he was getting Fellated in Ring. Taker started giving chase, dragging the coffin behind him as Jake was hitting him with a chair. That was a CLASSIC Funeral Parlor, up there with the Warrior one.
BTW, Jake was the man. Too bad he was a cokehead.

The most shocking moment for me was when Owen Hart fell from the rafters and died. I had heard about it that night but didn't believe it until i saw it on the 11 0'clock news. I watched the tape the next day, of course it didn't show it but just seeing the look on Jeff Jarrett and Debra's faces was I don't know.
Hands down it has to be the most shocking moment in wrestling.

I can't really remember alot right now, but the scariest one for me that I can think of right now off the top of my head, was 1994 Survivor Series, the IQ match between Bob Backlund and Bret Hart, and the loser would have his manager throw in the towel. British Bulldog was in Hart's corner, Owen Hart in Backlunds corner, and their parents were there. The scary moment to me was when Bulldog rammed head first into the steps and fell unconsious, lol I thought he was dead. The next day on Superstars I was amazed that he was alive, heh.

Definately when Kane put the Undertaker in his casket and lit the casket on fire, I was like holy shit. They extinguished the fire and didn't find a body. Then the buildup just to bring the Undertaker back. That was golden. It kinda makes me think that this bringing back of the UT right now could be that good.
