Tuesday night on ECW on Sci Fi, the No. 1 Contender to the ECW World Title will finally be determined. Kurt Angle, Sabu and Rob Van Dam will compete in a No. 1 Contender Triple Threat Ladder Match, with the winner going on to face Big Show for the ECW World Title at SummerSlam.

This past Tuesday, Angle and Sabu squared off in a No. 1 Contender Match, but it was interrupted by the shocking return of Van Dam. Back from his 30-day suspension, RVD attacked both men with a chair, rendering the match a No Contest. Many were surprised that he would attack long-time friend and partner Sabu, but apparently the quest for revenge and gold outweighs the alliance between the two Extremists.

Obviously, RVD is looking to regain the ECW World Title that he feels was stolen from him on July 4, and now he is one step closer to that opportunity. Of course, it’s an opportunity Angle and Sabu both covet as well, and now they may have the extra added motivation of paying RVD back for his actions.

Big Show said last Tuesday night that it doesn’t matter who the No. 1 Contender is, because he will “crush them like crackers for (his) soup.” On Tuesday night, three men will be one step away from becoming the proverbial fly in his SummerSlam soup.

What will be the outcome? Will Angle head to SummerSlam with a chance to become the second man to ever hold the WWE, WCW and ECW Championships? Will Van Dam get a chance to regain what he feels should still be his? Or will Sabu get the chance that he’s been denied of three weeks in a row? Find out Tuesday night at 10/9 CT when ECW on Sci Fi is live from Washington, D.C.

That is going to be absolutely amazing!

But I think it's safe to assume that Sabu will make it up the ladder while RVD and Angle brawl on the outside, setting up Show/Sabu and RVD/Angle for Summerslam.

hottt.

Either RVD or (most likely) Sabu will take it. Angle will face the other loser of the match.

Wow. Heyman apparently comes back for one week and delivers the best main event on network television for months

The problem is, this caliber match should not be given away on TV. This thing should have happened at the next/first "real" ECW PPV.

Not that I'm complaining. I'm just saying that it's more of a PPV match than a TV match. I'll bet this show gets the highest rating ECW has gotten to date.

I don't envy Kurt Angle's neck right about now.

Still, match could be sweet.

I imagine that RVD and Sabu will be doing the majority of high risk spots, but then again, we were saying the same thing when Edge took on Flair in a Raw ladder match.

Is there going to be an ECW exclusive PPV any time soon?

I think December.

Even so, they could have held it at SummerSlam. Had it open the night, and the winner faces Big Show in the semi-Main Event.

There are plenty more opportunities for ECW. One of the benefits of a deep roster (including loans from Smackdown and Raw) and only an one hour per week of television is that there are no excuses for exhausting the feuds and storylines early.

It's matches like this that will make ECW the most popular brand of wrestling on television. Are you ever going to see a match up like that on RAW? You might get a Carlito, Nitro, and Benjamin ladder match, but that doesn't even compare. Fuck yeah, ECW.

Holy shit! I can't wait for this. Got a feeling Sabu will win it, and RVD and Angle will start a feud after this match.

I wouldn't count Angle out just yet. He wants the title, and he needs to solidify himself completely as an ECW contender.

I don't think he needs to solidify himself at all.

I don't know. I'm not against the occasional PPV match on TV from the business standpoint. I mean, it's good marketing, especially when you're hooking people into the new show, and the future of your PPVs is uncertain (The date's been changed on the PPV a couple of times, and the location's apparently changed).

So unless they make a habit of it, it's actually good from a marketing perspective. think of it as a preview match, which would be smart, if WWE usually had anything to preview.

I don't think he needs to solidify himself at all.

Perhaps, to many, he does not. But to the fans who hate WWE-to-ECW injections like Big Show and who only respect ECW Originals like Sandman and Dreamer, he may still need to prove that he belongs on the show. That's all I meant.

Those people are called smarks. They respect Angle and Punk the way they respect the original roster, it's painfully obvious that this is the case. The people who you think need to accept him clearly already do.

Hey, now, I didn't say this was my opinion. I was just saying it's a possibility. But, if you can see Angle vs. Big Show and think of it first as an ECW match and not a WWE match, then my theory is completely unsound.

This is so awesome. Paul Heyman > WWE.

Matches like this NEED to take place on ECW TV. They're still trying to hook in viewers, and they actually don't have PPVs, which gives them an excuse to make each show as good as possible.

CM Punk will be wrestling next week as well, so hopefully he puts on a good show. I have no clue what the third match will be, but I have no doubt it will involve Test, Mike Knox, Sandman and Tommy Dreamer. Probably Dreamer vs. Knox & Test in a Handicap Match. Next week's ECW will probably be the best to date. I'm hoping that they have an FBI vs. Basham Brothers tag team match at some point. That match will rule in a world where there are no longer tag teams.

And if ECW follows the WWE path where a tag team breaks up after a bit, Doug Basham will be world champion, while Danny becomes a jobber. I hope the psychology in this match is great, otherwise it will be one of them good idea, bad executions.

WWE wrestlers fighting for the ECW Title. Boo... or whatever it is that everyone else likes to say.

Ahh, whatever happens - I hope they hold off the Big Show vs. Van Dam rematch till the first ECW PPV.

Angle's actually made himself out to be an ECW wrestler. Big Show still feels like a WWE wrestler, but Angle seems at home. He's even accepted by the mutants. Now if it was Batista vs the Big Show...Oh, too late.

Rob Van Dam V. Sabu V. Kurt Angle in a Triple Threat Ladder Match

-SOunds pretty exxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxtreme to me.

Altho, why the hell would Paul Heyman book Sabu in a #1 Contenders Match two weeks in a row if he did not want to give Sabu a chance (EVER) at the Big Show for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship? I don't understand that part.

Or why RVD is back in the title hunt after being screwed out of the title. WHy would Heyman give him a chance at a rematch?
