My dad gave me this USB TV tuner that he was planning on using for his laptop and I'm trying to use it on my laptop right now, but the problem is that I don't have anything that will be able to read the signal from the thing.

Originally, it's supposed to be used with computers running Windows XP Media Center Edition, but is there a way I can use it on my laptop (Windows XP Home Edition)? Like plug-ins for Windows Media Player/Winamp/etc.?

Anyone have experience with this?

(Product's name is Angel USB TV Tuner, btw)

As long as you have plugged in your coax cable, you can get signal from a number of programs. The simplest, free program is Media Player Classic. You won't really get any good features but you'll be able to view the signal. I use SageTV but there are other programs like Beyond TV, Meedio, GBPVR, or Showshifter. I know there are more but those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

If you are into torrents, I would suggest looking for SageTV 2.0 and downloading that. After that, get the SageMC skin. It gives me everything I could ask for from my tuner.

Here is the link to SageMC. http://www.sage-community.org/index.cgi/wiki/SageMC169

Actually, only get the SageMC if you have a remote. If you don't, just get SageTV.
