View Full Version : That had to be the worst lader match ever (ECW spoilers)

If my memory is true, RVD tried to pin Sabu in the early going and the ref counted one. That just killed the match.
Sabu botching the triple jump moonsault with the lader was funny as hell though. And how Sabu won the match was bullshit.
"Hey, I'm just gonna have them lower the contract albeit I have nothing to do with this match!"
Seriously, even as ECW goes, that match sucked. CM Punk's match was more credible (no pun intended).

I haven't read the ecw thread but this is dissapointing to hear. LOL@the ref counting for a pin. Wtf is up with that? They seem to be botching a lot....
Was Sabu SUPPOSE to botch that? Because, come on, he had to have known that it wasn't going to balance.
If it wasn't, I liked how RVD saved it with the leg drop. That was very ECW.

Sabu was probably too high on weed to notice that it wouldn't balance. :shifty:

I'm sure it was still more entertaining than anything CZW could come up with.
Okay, even I've admitted that CZW bashing has been beaten into the ground...

People were expecting a MOTY when they expected Kurt Angle to still be involved.

I was thinking to myself the whole time, tho, "I'm so gllad Kurt's not in this." I honestly think it'd piss him off more to be in the sloppiest ladder match in history than to have been stricken from competition, legitimacy of the groin tear notwithstanding.

When they wrote the ending of the match they thought they were onto a winner, but in practice it looked horrible. Sabu sat on the turnbuckle waiting for the contract to be lowered and the Big Show just 'happened' to turn round as soon as he had the contract in his grasps.
WTF!?
It would have been awesome if, after Show lowered the contract and Sabu went for whatever the fuck it was, Van Dam just shot into the picture, off of one of the turnbuckles, like earlier in the match, but this time grabbing the contract.

With an ending like that, no wonder RVD and Sabu didn't give a fuck about the match.

It was painful watching Sabu sit on the turnbuckle and then on Shows shoulders. Awful

Had Kurt Angle been involved in the match it would have been completely and totally different, and probably not "the sloppiest ladder match in history." In fact, it would have been different in every way. So, yeah. Your point doesn't really make sense.

Just as it was painful to watch Foley, looking over his shoulder, wait for Flair's belt.
An all-around crap-ass night for ECW, I'd say.

Kurt's not quite that magical. Even without the Big Show run-in ending, the match was slow and choppy. Besides, even if every single bump/set in the match was changed b/c of Kurt's absence, they still had time to get things decent. And it just wasn't.
And besides, my point was simply that if Kurt were watching backstage, he was probably glad he wasn't in a match that looked so flimsy.

let Sadistic have his victory. With Cena becoming champ again, CZW not dealing out the same garbage it used to, and Nick Mondo in college, this may very well be the only thing he has left to live for.

It's almost like the writers/bookers were punishing these two for something? :shifty:
The best part of the match IMO was when RVD cracked himself on the head doing the monkey flip of the ladder.

Wasn't this Heyman's first attempt at booking the show?

But it's still the hindsight is 20/20 thing.
He was probably sitting backstage, watching the match, thinking "I told them not to smoke that joint."

It was, but you can't give him too much flak; appearantly he was given power under the condition that he waste the first 3rd of the show promoting a non-ECW match. Not to mention taking Kurt from the Main Event.
Just bad luck, I'd say. Give him time.

Yeah, Sabu's contract should be null and void considering:
A) He never signed it
and
B) He fucking ate it

Yeah I can see that. The botch made me laugh so I couldn't really feel disappointed in it.

It's no Christian ladder match.
It was sloppy, which I did expect. I'll give them credit for reacting to things quickly when something went wrong, or different. I know it's part of being a wrestler to react to things quickly if they suddenly change, but some guys just stand there and pretend it didn't happend and try to do the same move, or thing, again.
I'm not disappointed with it because I didn't have high expectations from it. I didn't know what to expect. It was pretty ok, but won't be remember when ladder match discussions are brought up.
It was better than anything on RAW or Smackdown this week. That's a plus.
