After weeks of taking matters into his own hands, Sabu finally achieved his goal of obtaining an ECW World Title opportunity against Big Show, and it takes place at SummerSlam. Big Show and Paul Heyman did everything they could to ensure that Big Show wouldn't have to defend the gold at the Biggest Party of the Summer, but the opportunistic Sabu foiled their plans. Can Sabu take it one step further and walk away from SummerSlam as the new ECW World Heavyweight Champion?

Plus, Kurt Angle had to be removed from ECW on Sci Fi by police officers after the Wrestling Machine tried to attack Paul Heyman. Before the No. 1 Contender Ladder Match, Heyman removed Angle from the contest, putting him on medical suspension due to a groin injury. Angle wanted to compete with the injury, but Heyman said he had to "save Angle from himself." Will the Wrestling Machine be back in the building Tuesday night?

And Mike Knox & Test looked impressive in a win over the FBI on ECW on Sci Fi. But they didn't look nearly as impressive when they retreated to the locker room after ECW Originals Tommy Dreamer and Sandman stormed the ring. Knox and Test escaped the ECW Originals' wrath, but will things be different on Tuesday?

I still don't understand why every match isn't held under extreme rules. It's what sets ECW apart from all of the other WWE products, so exploit it. When Heyman was talking to Holly tonight he was talking about how "hardcore" ECW is, when in truth it's nowhere near hardcore anymore. Just because a match is held under extreme rules doesn't mean it has to have a bunch of weapon spots. It just leaves that possibility open.

Agreed. I wish at the very least they would make all the ECW title matches extreme rules. Atleast that way it could give off a different feel from the Raw and Smackdown world title matches.

Pretty good show, better than the past 2 weeks. Don't mind seeing HardcoreHolly come in and mix it up..if they book each week similiar to tonites' minus the mainevent dq and bikini crap, they'll be ok.

Yeah, I kept waiting..and waiting....and waitng for the commercials to stop. Finally I just got so pissed off that I turned the TV off and didn't see the end of the match. I figured with the time left it would just be some lame DQ ending or something.

Seriously, is there any reason to not allow more time for the main event? There were alot of segments that could have been cut to allow a good 5 minutes or more to the match. When a bikini segment and movie trailer gets more time then your world title match, how does that seperate ECW from any other WWE product? UNNACCEPTABLE.

Maybe my expectations were too high coming off the Hammerstien show, but I have really been disappointed with the last couple shows. Things I never need to see again on an ECW show:

1. Mike Knox interupting his exhibitionist girlfriend.
(The announcing during this makes it worse for me....everyone in the fucking building and watching at home knows it's coming...but Joey and Taz have no clue and are surprised/pissed off EVERYTIME.)
2. Shannon Moore promo
3. Sabu promo
4. John Cena movie trailer/any WWE superstar movie.
5. Anything WWE Diva related

Cut this bullshit out and it gives more time for the "featured" Extreme Rules match of the evening (would have LOVED for the Thorn/Balls match to have gotten more extreme and had more time). As I mentioned before, it also gives more time for the Main Event. If you spend 3 segments building the match and all the announcer hype time...the match should not end in a DQ and should not be interupted 5 seconds in to go to yet another godamn commercial segment. :mad:

And is it just me, or does RVD seem to be moving in slow motion? CM Punk? Why are they RVD'ing this guy after all the build up? Take the handcuff's off!! I never saw him in ROH, but you can tell the guy is like a Ferarri being raced in first gear.

On a different note...notice how the RVD/weed references have been dropped by Joey/Tazz. I don't think we'll ever hear "Noone gets higher than Rob Van Dam" after a frog splash again. :lol:

Thematically, I actually liked the idea. They're playing up that he's hardcore, and then pitting him against the "new" ECW.

However, they promoted ECW as hardcore (They being WWE), and pretty much only hyped it with hardcore flashbacks and the like, so it is pretty stupid to then give us ONE extreme rules match per night.

Their formula has been fairly simple. They have one Extreme Rules match, one or two matches where hardcore rules are never mentioned and they just wrestle, and then one non-Extreme Rules match where they keep mentioning that it isn't Extreme Rules and then someone (Sabu, Balls, etc.) gets DQed for being Extreme.

It's simple and far too pradictable, but it's kind of working right now to establish who's hardcore/good guy.
