According to PWinsider.com, the Jimmy Wang Yang name and Cowboy gimmick will eventually become an angle in which he asks Teddy Long to drop the stupid gimmick and remove the word "Wang" from his name.

This will become a running joke for Jimmy Yang, who "got the Wang out".

Is that serious?

James Yun is such a talented performer. I wish Josh Mathews was on commentary. He used to rant about how Akio was an actor in Korean films. He'd be able to save this by saying Yang is working on expanding his range as an actor. :(

I can just imagine the meeting where they came up with the name "Jimmy Wang Yang".

WRITER: Let's make him a redneck! No one believes people of Asian decent can survive in the south!

WRITER: Sort of like a John Wayne character?

WRITER: Jimmy Wayne Yang?

WRITER: Jimmy Wang Yang!

EVERY WRITER IN THE ROOM: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Fucking idiots.

Apparently, his original gimmick was too close to Hassan.

Honestly, I dont even fucking care. As long as I get to see him perform, they could put him in a tutu and put him in blackface for all i care

I bet he gets some sort of gimmicked ring work where he rides them like horses and whips them. Basically Eugene, only a little higher on the stupid spectrum.

Why don't you guys think that's funny?

Because we over-analyze everything in wrestling. If ECW was EXACTLY the same as it was back in the day, we'd be saying how overused it is.

Nothing ever suits us even when it does.

Why don't you guys think that's funny?

A. It's not funny. Yippee, an Asian guy acting like a redneck.

B. I hate redneck humor.

C. It's a horrible gimmick that probably won't work, and the lack of overness will be blamed on Yang, who will be released again.

I guess I'm the only person amused by this... and I am Asian!

I dunno... it's lack of a gimmick that got him fired in the first place. So now he's got a gimmick. A stupid one, but it'll get him on TV (hopefully). I think it's funny in a ridiculous way; but it's entertaining.

As long as they let him fly in the ring, who cares if he has a silly gimmick? If this lets him be ON television, then all the better.

And I dunno about you, but he showed a lot of charisma there. What the hell were the writers talking about when they said he didn't have any???

They had no clue an Asian guy could speak English. Fucking idiots.

Seriously, I know a guy who has talked to Yun, and apparently he is one of the most charismatic guys he has ever met. If they let half the guys who "don't have personality" actually get mic time, to show they do, things in the WWE would be a lot different.

I must say, Jimmy Wayne Yang gives me high hopes for the gimmick. Much more than Jimmy Wang Yang. I just hope they continuously let him cut promos, and such.

I am willing to give this gimmick a shot before I judge it too harshly. After all he can go in the ring, and it is true he did show some good charisma, so who knows maybe it'll be a hit. I want to see how it plays out.

LOL. I had no idea Jimmy Yang had any charisma. That was great. He went from being a stereotypical Velocity cruiserweight to actually showing off some personality and charisma. I have absolutely no problem with this. This man is gold and I welcome him to the cusp of the midcard ranks. *Salute*
