Why does MLB have a 160 game schedule? Every other sport is considerably less. It's hard to get excited about game number 2-150.

I think you learn to get excited about it in different ways, see i look forward to a particular series as opposed to a game, ie the recent 5 gamer between Boston and New York.

Plus its going on everyday so there's always stuff to look at and keep upto date with. The football season here started over a week ago now and it won't be finished until late may next year:|

Yeah, 5 Game Sweep! :) I agree about Baseball though thats why I like football season better and more time in between games. The Pats are gonna be good this year and I like Maroney.

Yeah if you just watch random games that sucks, it's about the 3-game series

Because you don't have to watch every single game, like football. The only season IMO that is too long is the NHL. It is played on ice, but the most important games come in June. Have the Stanley Cup Finals in March at the latest.

Another baseball question. How do more players not hit more than 50 homeruns on a consistant basis. You play that many games how can somebody not hit at least 100 home runs? In hockey for example, you have guys scoring 50 goals in 82 games. Wouldn't that be a harder thing to do than hitting 50 home runs in 160 games?

Hitting a baseball is pretty hard. When Greg Maddux is throwing his ridiculous breaking ball i can't fucking imagine how hard it is, or when a high-heater is speeding it at you up and in at 100mph, its really not as simple as just hitting it over the wall.

Although yknow if Barry Bonds hadn't been walked so many times i reckon he easily woulda cracked 90. So yeah, steroids help too:).

Hockey goalies have made glove saves on a 100mph shot and players have deflected the same shots, so the hand eye coordination of hitting a baseball should be no different.

Its completely different trust me:p

Hitting a ball coming at you at 100mph isn't so hard, hitting it out of the park is. A hockey goalie getting his entire body or even a hand behind the puck is quite different to striking it out of the park with precision. Try it!

A long season is always better. It is hard to keep track of baseball these days in many ways but I like the fact that it's kinda' always there.

I use to think this too but I have been way more into it this season. The whole division battles thing makes it worth it. Every game seems important after the all star break when the Yanks and Sox are battling for the division lead.

I love the length of baseball season. And I love how they play every day, almost. IF you don't feel like watching one day, you have practically a week of games you can still watch.
