I'm taking a page out of Aleinoid's book and writing an ending to Unforgiven. Baring in mind recent rumours that Lita is also ready to quit the WWE, I think this would go down quite well.
"Trish was saying that the road has been taking its toll on her and it was time to take some time for herself," Lita told WWE.com, "but the hardest part was that she couldn’t decide how to tell her fans. Well, being the good friend that I am, I figured I’d break the news through WWE.com to alleviate her worries and save her the trouble of figuring out how to let down all her fans like that."
Lets run with this angle here. Lita has "broken" the news to Trish's loyal fans that their hero is leaving. Naturally, Trish feels invaded by this and wishes to take some sort of vengeance. During the next Raw broadcast, Trish attacks Lita and basically wipes the floor with her causing the usual ref intervention.
Trish is furious yelling "If I'm going, you're going with me" before she's dragged away. She later pressures Vince McMahon into agreeing a loser-leaves-WWE match, with the winner also crowned new Womens Champion.
So onto Unforgiven with a very fast paced and raw match (why not? didn't you see these two tear it up on a Raw main event about 18 months ago?). Edge, who accompanies Lita, is ejected from ringside by the ref for trying to break up a pin. Eventually Trish comes out on top with a Stratus-faction for a win infront of the Canadian crowd.
Lita sobs in the ring at the thought of losing both her belt and job as Trish celebrating up the ramp. Trish on the other hand, makes her way to the edge of the stage to wave to the fans on the far side when a returning Edge bursts through the curtain and nails Trish with the spear, knocking her backwards through a set of tables below.
Edge does his usual 'grunting' routine and looks down over Trish as the EMTs rush to help, and then he walks to Lita to the back while a shocked crowd is torn between a rendition of 'naaa naaa naaanaaa goodbye' and being utterly shocked at the events moments ago leaving Trish in a heap fifteen feet below.
Basically we've achieved two things -
1) Major heel heat for Edge leading into the main event with Cena. This feud hasn't exactly set the world alight but this one act would almost guarantee heat with the Trish-loving crowd for at least six months.
2) Trish leaves the company on a high, as champion, albeit in a strange way. WWE announces that Trish sustained massive injuries and if the decision to quit hadn't already been made, she would have to now anyway. She forfeits the belt and there's a diva battle royal to crowd the successor in 2 weeks on Raw.
Furthermore, the door is open for Trish to return at any point in the future to regain what she sees at rightfully hers.
