Friend of mine from work lent me the Shawn Michaels book the other day. And I thought I'd quote a few paragraphs that go against what everyone has been saying.
For the second time in my life, I had to tell Vince that I was done. He asked me what we were going to do, and I said, "I don't care what the doctors said, I am going to Wrestlemania. I'll have surgery afterwards." I was very adamant about putting Steve over.
What happened to the story about Taker taping his fists and paying Michaels a visit?
There was some gossip going around that I was asked to lose to Vader and refused. That's simply not true. I was never asked to put him over. He came in with this reputation of being a bully. Apparently, Vince had a stern talk with him and whipped him into shape in no time. The idea behind me fighting him was to simply give me a big guy to beat. Vince never said "I want you to put Vader over at Summerslam." If he had, I would have done it. Leon pinned me twice on television. If I were going to give him the title, wouldn't you make me look stronger going into the match, and then let him beat me?
There's more but I have to go to work. Anyway - thoughts?

Yeah - that's what I was getting at. The book contains a whole bunch of lies.
Bret Hart believed he was a hero in his country and that if he lost a wrestling match in Canada, the country's collective psyche might shatter - I am being totally serious here.
I can't wait for the Bret Hart book.

Bret Hart was a fantastic wrestler. But a man with some serious issues and a bit of a prick in general. I don't like him.

As long as they can rile up the Canadian fans so easily, Vince won't stop bringing it up though.
Watch Off the Record in 2002 with the Undertaker - he tells the story himself, and even though Shawn is league's ahead of him, I do believe Taker far more.

Not all Canadians were Bret Hart fans, nor were all Bret Hart fans Canadian.
I've not spoken about Bret for years now because I've debated it so much in the past and that's really where this stuff should still be. (PS - I a *gasp* Canadian thought Bret was a dick) BUT... I don't care about Bret Hart's wrestling career's legacy or any of that shit. I don't care about Ben Johnson's track career either and if anything had a bigger blow to "Canada's psyche" it would be that.
So what, they are people that did stuff on TV to entertain me. Now they are gone. big boo-hooing deal. Least of which Bret Hart was in a business of predetermined results, I'm supposed to be shocked if he looses? -Actually good wrestling TV says I should be...

Thanks for opening up and old wound you asshole!!! I cried for three months after that, tried to commit suicide, was sent to an asylum, broke out did went on a bender of opium, crack, and heroin, only to wake up in a Turkish prison, after years of US negotiations with Turkey I was finally released. While I was in jail my parents died, by girlfriend lefted me, and I missed the entire series of Malcom in the Middle. I just got back to my house today, which has been borded up and abandoned, I turn on my computer thinking the worst was behind me, and now you have to tell me if I'm over it yet?!? Go to hell you insensitive prick. I'LL NEVER BE OVER IT!!! I loved The Patriot! He was going staright to the top when Bret Hart had to screw him over...

Sadly enough, this *IS* 100% true. :nono:
What I'll always find funny about Bret, is that the guy JUMPS at the chance to bash HBK whenever HBK's name is mentioned (Bret is shrewd enough to never initiate conversion regarding HBK however).
If Bret truly was over Montreal, he'd just politely decline to speak about HBK whenever he's brought up.
Bret Hart lacks integrity and character.....despite what his fans may want to believe. He's not much different than those who he has critiqued the most (i.e. HBK, Vince).
