Hmm - I'll prob get some heat for this, but does anyone else see him as being the next Shawn Michaels?

I know Jeff Hardy got tagged with that label back in 2000 (why I don't know) but after watching RAW this week - I can kind of see a little Shawn Michaels in Johnny Nitro. Am I the only one?

Aside from his mic work, he's not bad.

That said, Shawn Michaels without good mic work is another face in the crowd.

No...in no way, shape or form do I see Nitro as the next Michaels.

Yes i see a lot of similarites between the two. Nitro is still green but he is a lot of potential.

Also Nitro and HBK are the most a like when it comes to bumping. That's what made HBK so good, and I can def see that being the case with Nitro.

not if Johnny-boy keeps cutting those lame-ass promos.

Sheri Martel?

Sherri Martel.

Sheri Martel? Sherri Martel. Are you trying to tell me that people tuned in to see Sheri Martel instead of HBK? You're out of your mind.

And when I think of a piece of ass in wrestling, Sheri Martel is the farthest thing from my mind.

How long have you been watching? Too damn long, really.

What's Triple H then? HBK was well over long before Trips came into the picture.

Nitro was fine during the 'Press Conference'. I do recall it was Milena who was horrible. Perhaps if she were given a script, or could think on her feet, she could master the promo deal. I can't say as I'd call Nitro "The Next HBK", but in all honesty, I'd rather he be "The First Johnny Nitro".

Nitro will absolutely never be anywhere near the level of Shawn Michaels.

I doubt he'll ever be near Shawn Michaels, but I do still think he can be a solid wrestler.

gonna agree with destore/aussie skier. They guy will end being very solid, and maybe even be Michaels esq. but he will never be "the next HBK."

Nitro sucks so no. The guy has such a look and a grand entrance, for such a boring, bland person.

Nitro first of all cant talk. Nitro, secondly, is a very shitty singles wrestler. He doesnt cut it.

He's not even close.

Sherri Martel was far from ugly. And she is easily in the top 3 best managers I've ever seen. I'd put her right up there with Bobby Heenan and Jim Cornette.

I have seen some Rocker Michaels promos near the end of his run as the rockers and he wasnt too bad

Michaels at that time was a phenominal worker too. I casually watched wrestling before then but was never hooked. The very second I saw The Rockers, that was it for me. Still never seen a tag team like them.

Rob
09-05-2006, 04:07 PM
Oh and Michaels admits to this day he needed Sherri Martel to get over because guys didn't want to sell for him. Sherri told him to throw them outside to her and then she'd rip fuck out of them to the point they'd be begging to get back in the ring.

I love Sherri :D

Punk is the only comparison I can see to HBK, though thats from a Punk mark. HBK marks tend to think there will never be another HBK, thats just not true he wasn't/isn't that great. Definitely toppable. I've got Punks future right here: cocky, good worker, terrible draw. Sounds familiar...

Rob
09-05-2006, 05:21 PM
Fuck off! Shawn Michaels not that great? I got about 100 Michaels matches that say different. When CM Punk works infront of 10,000+ crowds on a regular basis and steals the show practically every night, we'll talk about that overrated dick.

Better Than You
09-05-2006, 05:35 PM
Calm down, your showing markism for HBK. I said that CM Punk everything HBK is, so if I sayed HBK isn't really THAT great... what does that mean? I love him, but he isn't the second coming like CM Punk marks/HBK marks make them out to be.

Rob
09-05-2006, 05:40 PM
I'm not a mark for him. By being the biggest Bret Hart mark of all time, that isn't possible. However, I know talent when I see it.

You'd be a fool if you couldn't see that they are at least trying the same route. In a tag team, split, becomes WWE Intercontinental Champion after split, has a female 'manager' they are pushing him in a similar way but I doubt it will generate the same results.

What Would Kevin Do?
09-07-2006, 08:45 AM
Nitro can be great if they let him develop himself.

Don't forget, Nitro came from Tough Enough, so he's coming pretty damn far in the few years of training he's had. People like to bitch that he's green, but he's not that bad for how long he's been training.

Mark my words, Johnny Nitro is not the next HBK, but if used right, he will be WWE champion someday.

He looked retarded. He didn't look like a realistic wrestler, let alone a champion. Plus, from what I remember, he was pretty "meh" in the ring.

Seriously, can you imagine Maven merchandise? Outside of the unibrow, I can't see ANYTHING marketable about the guy.

Look at the guy. He' built well, he looks like a wrestler, he looks like a cocky asshole, etc. He looks like the type of guy people would hate because he's full of himself... His mic work needs some help, but like better ring skills, it comes with time.

There is something about him. He has little mannerisms that go a long way. Basically, he has "it."

How long has Nitro been in WWE? How long did it take before Steve Austin or The Rock became "SUPERstars"?

I agree with WWKD, give Nitro time, book him right and he will be one of the next WWE Champions.
He has always had this presence about him such that are only seen in wrestling greats, e.g HBK.

To stick with the thread; No Nitro will not be the next Shawn Michaels, I don't believe in wrestlers becoming 'the next' of another, but he will be a star (aslong as he is given the time).

I like Nitro, and I think he's only going to get better over time. However, I can see the gripe that some people would have with him. While it took guys like Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, The Rock, etc...a while to get over...they weren't exactly in the limelight before they were ready to be there. The Rockers were a tag team in a division of a bunch of brilliant tag teams. They weren't even recognized champions. Steve Austin's first WWE stint was at The fucking Ringmaster, for shit sake. Even Triple H as Hunter Hearst Helmsley was pretty 'blah' at the time.

Nitro is already an intercontinental champion, and I guess that bothers some people. But honestly, today's wrestling world happens at a MUCH faster pace than it did back in the day. Back when there were 4 PPVs a year, everything was a lot more drawn out and things took a lot longer to come to fruition. That's probably why the matches felt like they meant more back then. Today, with 12+ PPVs a year, you've gotta keep those storylines rolling, and with that, you've got to make yourself some new stars more quickly. That's what I see happening with Nitro right now. For what it's worth, I think he's carrying the load pretty well. I definitely don't hate watching him and he's got some pretty unique offense. As far as the next Shawn Michaels, only (accelerated) time will tell.

The conclusion I drew from this thread is that Nitro is the next Edge?

Anyway, why the fuck does ever up and comer have to be the Next ______? Nobody says the Rock is the current Hogan, or was the future Hogan, or whatever. There is no current Hogan. There is no current Rock, for that matter. It's sort of a misplaced idea to try and compare a wrestler's future to the past of another guy.
