You are asking this question about arguably the most charismatic, mic promo, face there has ever been?

Heel.

Hollywood Rock was awesome!

He did have some kind of really kick ass vibe when he came back.

yeah but you can't deny that he is/was in the running for the biggest face, in the wrestling world. I know you may hate me saying this but, if you look at Hogan (as much as i hate him) Is there bigger faces out there in wrestling besides The Rock?

No one bigger than the Rock imo. Face or Heel.

You know, I really can't think of any now that you mention it. :shifty:

I had put Stone Cold down but reconsidered because I think of him as more of a neutral, he was a heel, but did face type things, Micheals, was sort of the bigger face, and so was Bret, but that was awhile ago, but still I give credit as due, and I said arguably the biggest face in the industry for The Rock, its that IMO he is/was.

The Rock = Best when he was face...

Stone Cold - Best face ever...

Bret Hart & HBK = Not even in Rocky or Austin's leauge...

Rock was great all the time, but as a heel, he could not be touched.

The Rock was better as a heel. He was at his best when he trash talked the fans.

The Rock was best whenever Austin was doing to opposite, as they had great chemistry against each other.

Agreed. Thats why the Wrestlemania 15 and 17 Main events were so memorable, they pitted Rock vs Austin. And the fans loved it, the 17 one seemed like a repeat of the Hogan/Warrior face/face match to me, until Austin did the most unasumming heel turn I have seen.

Rock was great as both, but more fun as a heel.

He was just so god damn charismatic he could play either role beautifully. A tough decision, but I'm going to have to go with face.

He really was over though. I liked his comeback as a heel in 2003 or so.

To me it was right down the middle, he was excellent on the mic whether ya liked him one minute and hated him the next, or vice-versa, but i think the funniest heel rock was definitely late '02 Rock...but thats just me...

Funny how The Rock wasn't there in late '02. He came back as heel Rock to face Hogan @ No Way Out '03

It's hard to decide. The Rock was great as a face, but his return run as a heel was a thing of beauty. I especially liked his mini fued with the Hurricane ^_^

Whatever he was the Rock was awesome, his last Heel turn was brilliant though especially when on the guitar. He just had this way of making anything he said brilliant. I'll say he was best as a face but only marginally.

Heel Rock

Face Rock made me cringe at times. But at the same token, face Rock was huge in the right doses

The Naitch
09-15-2006, 06:02 PM
like if Rock was face for 2 months then vanishes again for Hollywood (ie Summer of 2002) it is great. But in 2001 (he was face for too long. HE never even had his revenge program against Austin ONE ONE ONE as opposed to the Survivor Series mele) he was too watered down as a face

In the WM19 match between the two, the Eock Concert he did on RAW slagging off Austin was hiliarious.

2003 Heel Rock just showed how good he is. He took his stale face character (which the fans booed him for) and turned into a top heel straight away.

Well, I can't very well be my OWN CriticLover, so I guess that excludes me.

I think people were booing him cos he had left to do films not because he was stale. It started against Lesnar at SummerSlam 02 before he left and was increased when he returned with his Hollywood gimmick.

I was never a fan of The Rock up until this period. He was funny now-and-again before this run, but this was his high point for hilarity!

I recently watched Backlash 02, Rock's interview before facing Goldberg had me in stitches.

So yeah, Heel Rock -- You should have done a poll really!
