<!-- / icon and title -->I think the viable contenders for the ECW is a real issue, lets take a few minutes to look over the contenders.
I really doubt that they'll book Sabu to go after the title for much longer since we've seen it so many times already, but you never know with ECW's lack of strong main eventers. Because of this could very well drag it out until December 2 Dismember.
Perhaps they'll build RVD back up and have him challenge again since he never really got a rematch after losing the belt. This is actually the most logical reason, but I can't see this happening until December 2 dismember at the earliest.
Or they could go another, more risqué approach with it and have Sabu turn on RVD thus turning heel and making it a 3-way Dance with Show/RVD/Sabu; perhaps at December to Dismember.
Other than RVD and Sabu, I really see no other possible contenders for the main title. Sandman could easily go for it, as could Dreamer, but WWE is obviously not going to book it with what seems to be new feuds in the form of Sandman/Striker and whatever Dreamer's going to do next (he hasn't been on TV in 2 weeks for some reason).
Punk will definitely bee there one day, but now now. Balls? Maybe, but that's pretty laughable. Test can, Thorn can, hell, even Holly can, but all these guys need time first to establish themselves more before they get propelled to the top, plus there isn't a lot of money to be made with heel on heel. Kurt was a great option, but unfortunately, he is out of the picture now.
So for now, I see only two possible contenders to the belt and that's RVD and Sabu, and unfortunately neither are very refreshing for the main event scene. It's gonna be a rough ride, but they've done a fine job booking ECW so far, I'll give them a fighting chance.
But no matter what, Show is probably gonna have the strap until December.

I think they'll build RVD up, so he can win the title at ECW's first ppv. But as or the time being, I don't really know what they are going to do because Sabu/Show has really run it's course. But I think RVD is the logical choice for a run at the belt.

The triple threat seems the only way out of this. That or have Show drop the title to Van Damn in the next month or so and then build a Sabu/RVD fued for the PPV.

I would like a Sabu/RVD feud for the ppv, as I think it could be good. I don't hate the Big Show as champion, but I am getting tired of him, so I wouldn't be against him dropping the belt before the ppv. Of course, if you have RVD start the chase, without actually fighting Big Show, i.e. having to go through all of Heyman's men, and then have him finally get his chance at the belt, and defeat the Big Show at their first brand only ppv, it could be a great moment.

I agree completely with you caged heat. Big Show is now boring as a heel. He was great as the face on RAW that destroyed jobber with a big smile on his face. RVD is the only viable contender with Angle battered and broken, and no other contender than an already squashed Sabu. ECW needs to build more stars before trying to get a 2 hour time slot, even if is guys like Sandman or Dreamer (novelty, never wrestling matches, just attacking people and squashing guys like test and Knoxx. Fans would eat it up)

Big Show should hold the ECW World Championship until December to Dismember at the very least, but I don't know if Rob Van Dam is the best choice for an opponent. I think they should have him challenge at Survivor Series, but end up losing to Show. Have The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer and Balls Mahoney all beaten before then.
I honestly believe CM Punk is the guy they are going to push. Punk is undefeated, he's already beaten former World Champions, the fans are behind him, he's a New Breed guy, plus, without going into to much detail as to spoil things, he does interact with a current World Champion in the near-future.
Punk has a clean slate with the WWE, so I can see him taking priority over Rob Van Dam, who makes a good babyface, but let's face it, the WWE probably isn't too keen on him at the moment.

Well that and WWE knows he will never get busted with drugs or break their wellness program. :shifty:

I'd book a long reign a this point (12-18 months), ideally on RVD. Then program him with Punk.

A 3 way dance seems likely. Not sure if it will be RVD/Sabu/Show but I think it will be a good way to main event the PPV.

It would seem Punk would be the logical choice, and even as much as I love Punk, he isn't ready, sure he was the shit in RoH and that should mean something but half of ECW audience is the WWE Audience, who doesn't know the slightest cool about the World of Indepedent Wrestling, or granted ECW in General with the exception of what happened on ECW on Sci Fi....
Sabu has had ran it course, which while it's not the greatest fued, or even an good fued, It has produce some great watered down ECw match (Sadly I hate to say, we will never get classic, Extreme style matches in ECW again) however the new way, isn't exactly all that bad, for us still here, who don't mind an Spotfest Match...The only way the Sabu/show thing will be refreshed is If Sabu and Show fight again, and Sabu get's the Title...However I can't say it would be a good business move and would have the double sided sword effect.
RVD does seems like a great thing...He was screwed out of the title and suspended...Came back, and then they dropped the ball with him...It had the makings of something great, if he somehow won the Ladder Match, then got screwed out of the Title again...slowly setting up for the first WWECW PPV...however they completely not went that route and instead, put him in a fued with Holly, which most of us never cared about...Because of all the jobber killing he has done....
Dreamer would seem like an very logical choice over Sandman, for the fact, when Haymen turned, he had alot to do with Haymen, including The Kiss Of Death and everything else...however for that to work...He would need to defeat Test one on one, with of course, Test still having Haymen backing, having to go thru all of them...before Dreamer gives an speech how he has been behind ECW since the beginning, and Haymen is killing ECW like he back during his first run....Getting the ECw Fans behind him again...and pretty much always get destroyed by superior numbers, yet keeps getting up and going foolishly after them....Setting up Big Show v. Dreamer....
